looks decent. as long as they stay away from fucked up pricing scheme (was talk of f2p with restricted loadouts or something) I think it'll be a pretty good game.
2 Weapon limits for all classes.
Weapon slots can't be customized in a loadout.
Weapons can't be tossed or exchanged for other weapons on the ground
Loadouts consist of one primary weapon (chaingun, disc, sniper, grenade launcher, plasma, arx buster) and one secondary weapon.
There are 4 loadouts with the disc launcher, 2 with the grenade, 2-3 with the sniper rifles.
The chaingun and disc launcher are tiered weapons (level 1 smg, weak disc, level 2 rifle, medium disc, level 3 chaingun, strong disc)
The packs, grenades and deployables cannot be customized in a loadout
The engineer loadouts uses up a slot for the repair gun (something that was available only with the repair pack)
And that's just with loadouts. There's still tons of other things Hi-Rez has done with the intention of making it as noob friendly as possible, and it's only going to hurt the game imo.
What's weird is that there's all this leaked footage, .exe's, torrents and even alpha forum discussions, and the general consensus is that Hi-Rez is going in the wrong direction. Even the global agenda (assholes) testers who never played the previous titles hated T:A, that says something.
I live near their offices so I signed up for the on-site beta. Nothing ever came of it :/. Probably shouldn't have mentioned Quake so much in my "previous experience" :D
yes this game had duel although it was entirely aim based because there are no pickups. its more akin to midair duel that youd see in something like QW
generally no, there's a few tribes 2 mods that have a duel mode but it's not really popular. tribes has always been about big team ctf games, which the games pull off quite well.
if they make the loadouts "tribe-esque" it will be the next big game. it has so much going for it, and it'd be a shame to see it follow the ql path of totally fucking up the game for an odd pricing strategy. make the game true to it's prequels and charge a fucking flat rate for it.
The open beta is due out on the 4th of November. In other words, in a few fucking weeks and I cannot wait!
Also if you ever wanna brush up on your skii-ing skills before hand, I suggest you download and play some of the other Tribes games. Tribes or Tribes 2 in particular. I believe they've been made F2P and are a great blast at times even though the game is a small bit dead.
