dunno how this ql version of amphi looks/plays, but in q3 u weren't just supposed to 'jump in mid' to a good lg. u had to do dmg from above, maybe rockets if he was close, mg/plasma at distance, lg at mid range. u could only afford to jump right after spawn to mid if u were playing lower skilled dudes or ones u knew u could outaim

well some guy tried doing that to me but its harder to aim down than it is to aim up and the guy in the middle has alot more room to dodge, the guy on the ledge just gets destroyed if you have any aim whatsoever

they need to add 1 sec of BS when u spawn , so u can jump to middle :(

someone should do an amphi guide, it's obviously the most tactical map about. also when are we likely to see this in the dh map pool..

b) Make platforms closer to center
c) remove platforms altogether and have all spawns in centre

there is a spawn platform in all except 1 corner, and the corner that doesnt have a platform has the spawn in the centre, so thats 3 spawns outside the center and 1 in the center platform.

Its like 10 platform spawn for 1 middle spawn : /

I agree. While I think it's a good idea to have it to train with certain weapons, I don't think it really *works* with QL. Like you said, a person can just sit there with lg and push them into the lava on the spawn, making it unfair after the first frag. (usually)

dont see anything wrong with it, obviously qw povdmm4 is much much better but its simply because of the weapons and balance of qw.

If you don't like the flow of the map, then don't play it. It is obviously not a compettetive duel map, and will never be in any duel cup/lagues map pool. The map is simply for fun and practice. I can't see how increasing the amount of maps can be bad for QL.

And btw, don't be a baddie and jump forward into an enemy's LG stream. Jesus.

Rofl. Try stepping a bit back then? You get more space then you know. I'm not sure if you know this or not, but the lenghts of your and your opponents LG beam are infact the same.

1. its harder to dodge in a small space like that
2. your opponent has double the space you do
3. its harder to aim down than it is up

obviously the smart thing to do is just walk off the ledge and onto middle, all im saying is the map doesnt seem to fit into ql seen as its alot easier to aim than in other games

You dont need 100 meters for your dodge. As I said just step a bit back from the ledge and any half decent shafter got enough space for dodging in a LG vs LG fight. It's just as easy hitting lg from the platform that it is from mid.

I thought the only that is left for making a free version is a decent playermodel, the sourcecode is already opensource ... and the textures and items in the game were already remade ... but I don't know about the sounds ...

I suggest that some bright soul out there collects these, put them together in an ezQuake-esque client (Just with better menu's and more options!!) and republish it as QuakeworldFTW.

sounds like airrocket mod in warsow. and trust me, it was FUN!

well in QW i played a mod called midair which made it so rockets only did damage while you were in the air, and the only weapon was the rocket launcher. they functioned normally except that if you got hit in the feet there was huge air, which set it up for the air rockets.

however, QW had air control so half the fun of that mod was learning how to dodge rockets mid-air in a spiral. QL does NOT have air control, at least not as high a coefficient as in QW, and it would be far too easy to hit air rockets in this game type without drastically altering the QL experience.

cool idea in theory, in practice it would be nothing more than a mini game due to the inherent differences in the games.

in QW where midair can be taken seriously, the movement in midair is of the utmost import. here in QL, you couldn't dodge a rocket coming at you in mid-air no matter what because you simply cannot move yourself in the air in this game.

high time to fix pmove_airaccelerate in QL.

The command exists but it's badly done.

this and cpm has this too, cpm took the air control idea from qw. to be honest cpm is the most advanced and satisfying form of quake made till date.

I find the map to be very fun in 5 minute duels. You can't lg rape from the bottom the whole time, cause after about 2 kills (sometimes just 1 with my aim) you run out of lg ammo. Soon after, the opponent is able to jump down safely, hopefully for a good rocket battle, and you eventually switch places (you're up top, and he's lg-ing).

Fun aim/practice map. Especially for rockets! It is effing with my QLR ELO though. I played 4 games on that map, won all 4, and my ELO went up like 100 points. It was against players I normally wouldn't be able to beat.

If you're so worried about your ELO, play it in CA mode. Duhhhh...

It plays totally different in CA :/. The thing regarding LG ammo doesn't apply in CA e.g.
