I've been pretty bored lately, and found myself going back to the classics of the golden era of adventure games, titles like Beneath a Steel Sky, Monkey Island series, Full Throttle, Sam & Max, The Longest Journey, Zork Nemesis and Zork Grand Inquisitor, Phantasmagoria, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, Under a Killing Moon, Toonstruck, Broken Sword series and the like, mostly titles that are the heroin and cocaine of any adventure game nostalgia junkie.
Replaying these games is great and all, but i'd love to try something new, even though i've played most of the noteworthy adventure games of the 90's and early 00's, i'd love to hear your favourites, perhaps discover some hidden gems, and maybe a bit about what's new in the genre, i haven't really kept tabs these last few years.
One "new" game i've found was Broken Sword 2.5, which is apparently a fan-made sequel. It looks good on screenshots and i've heard favourable reviews. I'm usually a bit wary of projects like that but this one seems pretty tight (and was in development for around 7 years!) so i'll give it a shot.
