Razer refused to acknowledge the problem. I contacted them explaining that I have a large collection of optical mice that do not jitter on my mouse pads (which included a brand new razer goliathus speed which I bought at the same time as one of the abyssus) and that I have tried three different abyssus that all jittered including the newer LoL edition.

I asked them if they have done anything to fix the problem and if they knew of a specific e-tailer that had the fixed version in stock.

Their responses were:

"Was the abyssus missing a teflon foot?"

and

"It shouldn't be doing that, you can use the warranty."

I got the deathadder 3 days ago but i want to change it against an abyssus , but now i dunno

honestly it seemed to be fixed sometime around halloween for me.

when they updated the QL sens, i noticed my mouse was a lot umm.... better. it messed me up because it was not jittering anymore.

i can do very straight lines in MSpaint now as well, previously, i could not.

i use a goliathus control though, one of the pads it was designed for. a lot of people experiencing issues are using a pad it was not meant to be on.

And this ladies and gentlemen, is why i will never ever buy a razer product again

I've been using mine 12+ hours a day (bring it back and forth from work as well as gaming) since shortly after they came out and its holding up fine. Ugly as shit to be sure, and a fingerprint magnet, but functionally it's great.

tarantula's keys get way too gummy after 2-3 months , had to keep changing layout because of it.

Mine didn't, it's working like a charm with wasd+qer+space+numbers.

hmm I prolly just have strong hands or something.

same problem here: I had a tarantula and I hated it since I put lots of pressure on the keys (I guess my hands have been stolen from agriculture world :D).
btw, I changed it with a ss 6gv2 (harder keypress) and it's much more comfortable to me: I can feel the cherry mx switch go down smoothly and the overall mechanical construction seems more reliable (better plastics, weight, number of key pressed simultaneously, ...)
I guess the only possible drawback is that it's noisier than other keyboards.

clean optic lense with ear-cleaner (dunno how it calls in english, stick with wool). but I am sure 95% your problem is dirty mousepad (maybe it doesn't look dirty, but I guess it is). Try others new mousepads.

If a mouse lives for more than 1-2 years while being used excessively (more than 1-2 hours of usage per day and most of it gaming) then it's an amazing pice of hardware. My first DA held for like 2 years, second one was about 1/2 a year 3rd one holds for over 1 year now. Razer has some very good products that can hold for a long time (tarantula bought like 3 years a go and it feels like new), other products from Razer can break quite easily but that's individual you can't say that all products from Razer will break fast (1-2 years is a good life-span still).

Only thing that breaks on my DA is the scroll wheel... good thing I have a few spare Razer scroll wheels lying around. They seem to be using the same scrollwheel for alot of mice.

Currently having a DA with a Imperator wheel :p

Well the MX510/518/G400 have insane built quality. If they were released back in the war of 14-18, we would probably still have working versions lying around in museums...

I have a intelliexplorer 3.0 bought in 2002, still works. I am using a deathadder now and it still looks like new, I would be surprised if it broke in the next year.

Changed my Deathadder (because it was to heavy) against an Abyssus LoL edition and got the Razer Goliathus Control Edition Mousepad.
And the fucking shit mouse jitters alle the time crazy , its really annoying , installed the driver .. but it still jitters.

im gonna give that mouse back and take my money back !

Salmosa. Shape and weight is very close to abyssus. Plus it doesn't have a blue led. Instead, it has a slight prediction in the sensor that can't be disabled. It's up to you if that's a problem.

all salmosas squeak pretty bad too but it's not noticeable if you have headphones on

I just got my LOL abyssus win7 and goliathus speed and its perfect. Thank jeebus for that. Its good on QCK also.
But it jitters if you rotate pad 30-45 degrees but I dont care much about it..

well I got an abyssus 2 days ago and the sensor was perfect.
BUT
I pulled it out and put my salmosa sensor in :D

dumb massive dpi steps and 1000hz is the only choice above 125hz which sucks on the abyssus and prediction doesn't effect my aim at all so I went back to my 800dpi/500hz salmosa setup just with the abyssus shell to make sure I had fresh feet on the mouse as re-sticking mouse feet that have already been stuck before is a pain.

my salmosa skip if i do relativly fast moves at 50cm/360 with no accel, pointer starts to looks up ore down, wierd :l

ps : tested on QCK and desk...

I meant to me , but I tested it out yesterday with 65cm/360 on a qck heavy and I couldn't get it to skip.

I just grabbed an abyssus off amazon a few weeks ago. Not mirror edition, didn't say lol edition (although it did come with some kind of rune shit in the box).

Works fine for me, feels exactly like my DA except its small and doesn't weigh as much as a family sedan. 125hz/450dpi seems to provide the best performance for me. 1000hz setting is 100% fucked though -- its seriously noticeable even when just moving around the desktop. Pad is a Puretrak Talent.

500hz is worth a try (via the usual method, hidusbf etc)

3500 dpi is for really high sens at extremely high resolutions at relatively low fields of view.

it's funny I had no issues with my abyssus at 1000hz but I still didn't like the sensor.

the 125hz drawings looking only better, because 125hz leaves out so much data while u draw(it leaves out the jitter).

As you can see there is some minor jitter on 3500dpi/1000hz and it goes batshit insane at 3500dpi/125hz but I couldn't care less about those anyway :p

I personally like it. If you don't have a big hand, it could be appropriate for you. Cypher uses it.

As for surface, I use it with the Goliathus Speed, and I never encountered problems until a few weeks ago where I started having weird problems.

I heard that QCK does not work well.

Do you guys know for sure if the Abyssus doesn`t have prediction? Mine don`t jitter at all and my lines on paint (for ex.) are very nice. But the circles can get some straight lines that together becames the curve. Don`t prediction works like that?

So I`ve made some tests again and with a Steelseries pad, my Abyssus on CS 1.6 gets all fuzzy. But if I use the Everglide Titan pad, there are no jitter at all. So maybe you guys with jittering could try this pad. It`s not expensive and works really well.

It's not sold anywhere though. Not even ebay!

Then there goes a big part of what makes it attractive, being a $30-something mouse. Why should I have to go out and buy a special pad for it. When every other mouse works perfectly fine on the qck+. Fuck Razer.

I read a lot of contradictory info about optimal settings, though.
Some people claim it's best to to use it @ 450dpi, other say @ 3500dpi. So, what is the truth? Is it in-game settings dependant or what? If 'performing best' means as least jittery as possible, then logic tells me to use 450dpi. Or is it something else?

Anyway, my in-game settings are:

3500/1000Hz, u can see the jitter, at 450 is a little harder to see because of the line thickness. Sorry, but your mouse clearly has the jitter issue.

it seems some of the pads are a little more jittery, but I can't see how ppl can control that shit reasonably with a steady hand to make it not jitter @ 3500. Basically if any of those are the horrible jitter that is ruining your games I can tell you personally that it isn't going to be visible in game at all. 1-2 pixels of inaccurate "jitter" translates to how much ingame input? less than a fraction of a fraction of a degree...

I use it at 1800, works perfect, feels cool. On a sidenote I've always claimed goliathus control was faster than other pads. It isnt the case on abyssus due to the size/shape of the feet I guess, slides rougher compared to mice with large mousefeet. qck seems the smoothest, I only have a sample qck thats small so I wouldnt use it. on top of that goliathus control doesnt wear like most cloth pads where it has a different feel where you use it most, so goliathus is a cheaper investment.


MY ONLY GRIPE: no dpi setting midrange between 450 and 1800. i play dota and like stock sens settings on dota/rts games. 1000dpi logitech mice are perfect sens in this regard but dont have mouse hz settings or have shitty sensors for fps games :( 1800 is 2hard to control

the easiest way to put it is if if you can feel the jitter it's a problem, but it's entirely possible that can be a problem associated with higher dpi being harder to control. i didnt experience any jitter on mine but even if you were to youd have to have a shitload to actually notice it ingame
