this turned out to be a really nice final in the end, after seeing the 4k lineup (krysa, juven1le, spart1e, jocko) i was expecting a 3:0.
and then after being destroyed on dm20, ip comes back to play two very close and entertaining maps, very nice.

anyway, congratz to 4k for another win!

the viewer numbers are depressingly low though :(
i party blame all the shit scheduling for that (also the reason why i cba to do bets for it :()

That was great final and i had a lot of fun watching it with teammates on ts. Teams who are still interested in improving should do that more often imo.
Also 4k are so afraid to loose they are taking every top player available around instead of trying to recruit newer players who are interested in getting better and try to help them.

i don't get it... spart1e joined 4K* in april, and juve at 1st of november: how it's a "team of mercs"? :)

edit: and also: it's EC - the highest tdm cup at cb, so what's the problem of inviting strong players who's not yet playing in the cup?

as i said, i also think that its a bit harsh to call them a team of mercs. but although spat1e has played with them before he does not feel like a 4k player, afaik he does not commit to 4k (at least he never "officialy" joined them), he will player for who knows who in the upcomming tournaments. and juven1le and draven (dont forget that they used him in the match before) cannot not be considered anything but a merc.

i think people are so disappointing because 4k has always been because of their own legacy. but times changed when zik and v3rb left to play with srs. looking at it now, a really sad move considering that neither they nor srs are playing tdm atm.

4k has been a team of mercs for how long now, just get the best free players for the finals, its a joke tbh. and i used to like the team a lot, nothing personal ofc. teams shouldnt be allowed to add new players during seasons unless its a very special case. not like they could have taken the finals with dk and anakin instead of juve and spartie

i don't see what the fuss is about, players that left got replaced, simple as that. 4K play to win so they add some of the best, they've been on their roster for quite some time, and you're allowed to add 2 players during group play anyway.

I think krysa was their strongest player yesterday anyway!

ppl just forgot that dibbe, kanin(nEu) left us at the start of this EC. We was basicly 3 players again like from osp/cpma(SP BABY YEAH!, real pros will know/esr strudelkopfs not:) days - me/krs/dk + we know spartie long time before, so i dont know why is here such wall of bullshit about us. Anakin played ESH after one year of inactivity since spartie/juve didn`t register properly, draven was just on the list from past and same as spartie he is long time buddy to us.

anyway GG/WP iP - was nice to meet u in finals!

yeah i know they got extra players laying around their roster who only show up for finals, not like spartie or draven are proper 4kings members? but apparently juve is joining for good now. at some point this mercing (around a year ago) got so bad we got dropped by 2 different teams in tournaments but the players were basicly the same, silencep playing for 4 teams at the same time etc.

i can understand the frustration and i think the rules should be a little stricter in general, especially for a premier tournament like the ec, but at the same time you always have to look at the actual situation, shit happens and you have to make the best out of it.

what you say about 4k and spart1e is unfair though, he was in 6 out of the 7 games 4k played in this ec

The question remains, why do you hate merc teams so much?

i dont hate them, but i prefer real teams because of a few reasons:

teamplay might not be that important in tdm, but it is far more entertaining and impressive to watch.

who cares how this mix team of duel players does? i wanna see grudge matches between known clans who have met before etc

it keeps the level of play stagnating. real improvements come when you practice together for a long time and have experience as a team. good players being mixed together for a tournament will always make a good team, but they will not make a team that pushes to the next level.

too many mercs make the scene unstable and unreliable. real teams motivate and make players stay active for long times.

Yep, they won't push QL to the next level because they simply can't do it anymore. They have already played the game for lets say 7 years, the time when they tried to perfect their performance on their own is long gone, they have new aims/priorities.

They also don't have to ''catch up'' to new progressive players who could potentially invent something new because there are simply none fresh players that are both able to take it to the next level and willing to invest so much time just to achieve it.

Just from certain point of advancement Quake becomes more like a casual game, there is nothing for newcomers that would keep their commitment high enough for such a long time. And in 10+ year old game you need a lot of time to at least catch up with semi-active top players. (ie Juvenile over 2000 tdm games which means at least 833 hours in-game with average 25 mins for a game).

Apparently team play does mean very little in Quake Live at the moment.

I think teamplay is very important still .. remember your talking about very experienced teamdm players.. jocko and krysa play together for a long time (maybe 10 years or something i dunno) .. krysa and spart1e played together atleast at salivating monstah (probably the team with better teamplay at that year?) and juvenile is a player with like 3k teamdm games on his profile.. if that is not experience i dont know what is.

That being said i think yes .. practicing together alot maximizes your teamplay but the maps are not exactly new and these players have alot of tdm rotation.

Another big question for me is.. if TS was not allowed like the old days.. teamplay would be even much more important.. i consider it an allowed cheat tbh.

And yeah arrows give quite a lot of information about the map situation. I believe it's not used to its full potential.

I dont know anything about having low ping since i never had it .. but i believe it does, even tho ping is ping haters gonna hate etc.
