I believe its from the scaling causing the black border. This is a good thing and I wouldn't try to stretch it or adjust it so it fits perfectly.

It's the drivers. At least it's for me! I had to stick to an old version so I don't get this issue. Unfortunately I have 8800GT but the same drivers should work across the Nvidia GeForce range. You can download them here and tell me if they solved your problem:

The drivers I included are for 32bit and I noticed you run 64bit. Maybe try downloading the correct once here http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7_winvista_64bit_196.21_whql.html

If that doesn't work do what h8m3 said as I got the same advice a while back. Create custom resolution and set refreshrate on manual. Select 119hz or 119.9 etc.

Thanks I'll give it a go. Playing tribes now and out looks awful in 800x600 so I wouldn't mind just swapping back to LCD. To much viewable space on 23" though. oh well

I understand. I don't game much anymore and I rather end up with nice IPS monitor. Maybe soon they will make 120hz if ever. I guess it all depends how soon my Sony Trinitron will end up in smoke. Then I will just have to settle for whatever is on the market.

Yeah I love the crt. I know someone selling a p992 in the box never used. It's tempting to pick it up.

it's caused by drivers or .inf file for your monitor, try reinstalling both(or use another frequency like 121hz)

Didn't work. Might just retire the crt for my 120hz LCD.

Ok the fix came through a custom resolution after reinstalling drivers multiple times. 800x600 @121 hz works
