Maybe. If you have a text file you want to follow the movie file, then it makes sens.

And!!! I compressed a 69.9MB avi today with rar, and it became 54.8MB, so it's not always senseless ;)

The reason why people zip videos into *.zip/*.rar are:
1. Because you can add readme txt files and whatnot to the compressed zip/rar file
2. So if people don't "right click to save as..." they start a file download on the zip instead of opening the avi file in your media player of choice.

3. **SOMETIMES, you can compress the video down by 20 megs as well if the compression isn't great for the video itself, I have seen it on a few files where even 40 megs were compressed again making the overall filesize smaller.



**Only in a few instances will this actually compress the video file more then what it is already.

You don't need to compress files you add to a zip or rar archive. Just add them without compressing and save everyone some time...

If they're not major, people won't notice them as easy as now, and many who might want to see them might miss them.. Hopefully there will come a filter for it..

I voted 0 because I came to this site to read important news regarding gaming. Important news being updates on new games such as Doom 3, Unreal 2, UT 2003 etc. not about how every Tom, Dick and Harry has made movies of them and their clan fragging people, if I want to see that i'll visit the demo section or the movies section which is where this post should be, not set as major on the news page. I'm getting quite fed up visiting this site now, it used to be good for keeping up to date with the industry but now it seems every 4th/5th post is a movie which I couldn't care less about.

so actualy you voted 0 totaly for nothing, cause your vote has nothing to do with the quality of the movie or whatever, i think its pretty dump and not fair for the makers of this movie.

The reason there are lots of movie posts is because lots of people like watching them. Stop thinking only about yourself maybe and consider that other people might find it very interesting. I'm sure not every news post is something you like, so why don't you just as well complain about them?

If lots of people like watching them then they should visit the movie section, this doesn't deserve to be major news and neither does most of the movies posted.
