I can guarantee you people get more frustrated the other way around.

I've tried iCTF ladder and cup one time with my clan.. some of us were really pumped up basing our experience playing on pubs here and there and how easy that felt.
Well then, clan wars are completelly different. While players on pubs usually just rush in and play like complete idiots it's the exact opposite in a real match.

These people know every spawn location on any ctf map and position themselves accordingly (forcing spawns to certain areas). Meaning if you're an attacker you will most likely get spawn raped 2-3 times before you spawn somewhere somewhat safely.
If you survive your spawning it's a slow chess game on from there. They camp around corners just waiting for you to put your head out so you have to be extra careful the whole time.

It was a horrible experience for me, the amount of concentration needed for this is more than i could ever muster up.


Needless to say i don't exactly like it. I wouldn't say it's a no skill mod as it requires different kinds of skill sets. Players in top6 clans all hit above 50% meaning if you don't kill them with your first shot (if you had the chance) you're more than likely to die when they shoot back at you.
Getting the flag across is also much more difficult because of that.

On the other hand it only takes on shot for you to get killed too. One single mistake and you're dead. So while it may not require the weapon skill like in ctf, you still got positioning, movement, team coordination and rail-aim as skill factors.

Well if the measure of skill is how many times you have to hit someone before they die then you might actually be right :)
I would still reject that logic however based on the duels that i've played in the past.
I wouldn't see myself as being more skilled when losing to someone that made less dmg and had lesser acc than me, but damn.. that happend nonetheless. I forget to time items and i position myself badly when i'm losing to someone thats worst than me at least on paper.

Of course other people have an urge to call the other guy a noob when they lose while their own stats were better.
They tend to prefer CA for some reason, at least thats where i see most egomaniacs at. It's a perfect environment for them when you really thin about it. All weapons, no items to pickup and get stacked with. The basics really. Thats why CA players see it as the most skilled mode. No randomness with items and such.

If you go even deeper, same would go for insta then.. basics.. with only one weapon. Meaning no random grenade kills, random MG spread at mid-far distance, random fire at some location which results in a direct hit rocket across the map. Quite simple really, you actually hit and kill where you aim at. So no more randomness just... khm.. skill :)

It's something i think a lot about actually, you're not the first person who thinks what he plays is the most skilled game/mod/mode in the world.

CoD/cs players see quake as some arcade game that has no form of realism in it and is therefore less skilled.

It all comes down to perspective. I've played a lot of games competitively over the years and was able to see that different games require different skill sets (some of them similar tho).

It's probably because clanbase's downwards support is terribad, they stop any kind of personal input and force you to do shit you don't want. Maybe this has changed in the last few years with the even further decline of the amount of cups, but it's enough for any old admin or supervisor to do anything for CB anymore.

Anyway Jeesports will have a CTF Nationscup that's being launched in Feb/March.

If you're talking about the downwards support within a cup.. that very much depends on the supervisor running it.. but even he has someone above him to who you can complain to..

Anyway, official seasons have set of rules that need to be followed, the global rules they share is what clumps them up together as a season. Thats the whole point isn't it?

There are also other cups available on CB for those who want to run things their way (you know...so you can shit on others with your ideas :) ) called hosted cups. Pretty much anyone can get a hosted cup on CB and all the tools needed.

I knew you would be one of the people taking this personal, I'm just talking out of my own experience as a CB supervisor. It's close to impossible to get any personal input into CB. I do mean ANY, it's not that im bashing cb or anything, I'm just pointing out what I don't like about CB. I believe it's the main reason there are no longer any people willing to supervise CTF for CB.

It's not like that as far as i see. I made some changes within CB myself.. but that was probably because i got pretty high up back then.

I've never been desperate to be famous in any game and it's quite laughable you would assume such a thing. I played QL for about 11/12months and the team I created (infused) was with players that weren't even that established playing in division 2/3 etc. Ischju was playing pickups, Juvenile was in evo and Geno7a was in nFa (division 3).

I've clearly said since EF days that I've never EVER played online gaming to make friends. I only cared about people I was playing with (clan mates). I was fortunate enough to come across some fantastic online gamers, who know who they are. As I'm pretty sure even they'll agree on, we've had some fantastic games together and a good laugh. Till this day, I can actually only think of one clan mate I fell out with which for me is quite a good thing considering how horrible I can be at times to people.

I've played with Jaz and known him for years, and will agree he's wound up a lot of players online. However, he's one of the nicest guys I've ever played with. Till this day and I've been around for a while now ;-). I've never once seen Jaz claim to be any sort of online superstar.
