Also, another achievement-based give-away! There are 6 achievements per day, and each achievement gets you either a gift, or a piece of coal. 7 pieces of coal can be crafted into a gift, or you can wait until January 2nd, and each piece of coal that you have will enter you into the main give-away. Coal and gifts can be traded using steam trade.
If you decide to sit on the coal until the 2nd, the give-away prizes are as follows:
Grand Prize (1 winner) - EVERY game on steam O_O
1st Prize (50 winners) - Top 10 items on wishlist
2nd Prize (100 winners) - Top 5 items on wishlist
3rd Prize (1000 winners) - Valve Complete Pack (EVERY valve game)
It's going to be a tough choice. The first achievement is basically free, as you just have to open the page for the achievement list. I got a gift, and it was 33% off any Valve title.
Do you have steam? Just log in and click the part at the top right on the store page. Achievements are usually fairly easy to do, and will be in many different games. They usually have one "token" achievement each day, which doesn't require any game. Something like "PUT A COMMENT ON THE PROFILE OF A STEAM FRIEND".
I'd copy/paste them, but the page is dying. A direct example from the summer sale was a TF2 achievement just to kill someone who was in water.
edit: finally loaded.
Today is:
Orcs Must Die!
Deck the Halls - Complete the Hallway using only the Arrow Wall trap, weapons, and spells
Bunch of Heroes
Holiday Survivor - Survive up to the 20th wave in Santa's map
EDGE
Snowblind - Find the six hidden switches in the snow-covered levels in December
Cargo! The Quest for Gravity
2012 - it’s almost there - The Christmas bell tolls! You have been blessed with a present.
Anomaly: Warzone Earth
Santa's Challenge - Grab 20 Santa's gifts from missions 2-4 to get yourself a nice prize
and the token achievement was just to check your inventory. It's different games for achievements each day, and the games that have achievements will always be in the daily deal with a huge discount.
I bought Cogs and Yet it Moves on steam each for 2,49 €,
and 5 hours later I saw they were just added as bonus to the humblebundle indiepack4 for free :-(
Quake 4 - $9.99 (multiplayer looks like a real hoot, and I've heard good things about the singleplayer)
Ultimate Doom/Doom 2 - $9.99 (nostalgia, and does anyone still play online?)
I play Doom on every weekend, you just need the wad files from the original installation and this. I think i bought doom games more than 10 times just to support id, that shit with Q1 was the best game they ever made.
damn ...
I bought borderlands, batman arkham asylum, duke nukem forever and left4dead 2 and elder scrolls oblivion for 4,99 each, although I don't have a PC capable of playing these games, but for these prices I just can't say no =), but some time next year I'll get the right hardware =)
well... the experience is much better with a joystick but the "first" part of the game is mostly trading and not much of fighting is involved so u can easily play with mouse/key but later on when battling more ships at once u might want a joystick.
you can choose to pursuit the story or you can just freelance and build your own empire.
the games are very time consuming. you actually spend a month playing without gaining much really :D theres so much to explore and when u want to advance in the story it would be best to prepare yourself with a good ship and support by other ships.
when u start the game you start linear with basically 1 or 2 missions and just end up floating in space wondering what to do next, thats when u actually start to build up (trading, buying buildings, ships etc.) before u proceed to next mission.
I can't say anything about EVE since i haven't played it. from what i've seen EVE is more like point and click? this is real deal with piloting ships, fighters, cruisers it's more Star Trek like.
Trade is usually done solo, since there are no consequences for stealing/scamming. There have been some attempts at investment corps, but I have yet to hear of one that didn't end up in disaster. If CCP could make viable punishment with some SCC oversight, we could have a fully functioning stock market.
I know how boring trade/prod can be without a real goal in the end ( except if you're one of those freaks with an account in each hub, then it gets fun again )
anyone tried Shogun 2 total war? the first one was awesome.
i liked medieval TW as well. on metacritic Rome TW got even better score than Shogun 2TW, is it worth buying?
Steam ran out of product keys for third party games, and third party coupons. If you are still looking to do achievements, or you are considering crafting coal, the only games/coupons that can drop will be Valve games.
That's unfortunate, but the sense of entitlement from those forums is just absurd. Just skimming the posts you can tell how riled up people have gotten themselves because they didn't get the correct free thing that comes attached to something that was likely already 75% off, on the last day of the event.
Besides, isn't the real problem because of the assholes who farmed achieves with alt accounts and humble bundles?
