When I played warsow I saw that lots of times on the forums, but this and this show admins are even impolite now.

In a game that was made by the community for the community it's inconceivable to see such responses. The whole reason why warsow is dead is because admins don't even bother taking suggestions into account, and Jal was even more stubborn.

Moreover, it's funny that 99% of players (all 13 of them) don't even care about basewsw since they play an Instagib mod in custom maps, promode (a lot more aggressive weapon balance and others) and a race mod that only uses old movement.

Not completely true. I think the admins started to be so rude on the forums since a lot of stuff that was suggested was complete shit and the people posting it were too buthurt to admitt it and started insulting people. Also it may seem that crizis and the other devs are rude at times but if you suggest something really logical and good they will concider it and they also will talk to you about it, especially on IRC there are a lot of constructive discussions.

The part with the funny is also not quite true anymore (appart from the Instagib stuff). PROMOD was designed by crizis as DRAMAMOD first, following the requests of some of the better duelplayers around and it will become basewsw with the 0.7 version that is comming out soon. Pretty much everyone in the WSW-Community agrees that the current basewsw balance is shit.

didn't know that it'll be a part of 0.7. That's awesome, but it's still true that no one likes current basewsw, that defraggers actually use a mod with different movement and that at least 95% of players play that instagib mod or CA. Almost no one plays the actual game.

I played wsw since it started and I always disliked Jal's posts here and on wsw forums. I stopped playing after a couple of years since the 0.4 version was unbearably bad, though I kept reading the forum from time to time.

Tried 0.5, still didn't like it and I made a thread with a couple of suggestions, mainly about competitive features, decent vertexlightning support, crosshairs, fov ratio, mouse accel and others, which were promptly dismissed by Jal because he didn't want the game to become q3.

For 0.6 I gave it another shot, did a similar thread and the answer was the same.

Last month I started reading the forum again. Luckily I didn't see any posts from that developer and also the random pics thread got updated, but I just couldn't believe that admins are even worse than before.

there are no bad suggestions or things that can't be changed (or removed) if the community wants them.

Problem is that the suggestions I'm reffering weren't what the community wanted, most of the people ideling on the forums didn't like them, it only were the people that suggested them who wanted them implemented.

Jal is long gone from the developer-team now the main developement is done by crizis and vic. I also like the way they handle things. A game needs someone who has a complete concept in his head can just ignore the crap the people are sometimes suggesting and that's exactly what crizis and vic do. Most of the community supports them in their decisions.

If you are still interested in playing some Warsow you probably could try out the Newbie cup that is comming up soon (assuming you would have to get into the game again and couldn't rape people left and right from the start). to -=AvengeR=-. There are a few active developers (2-3). It is the main problem. No one wants to help DevTeam, but everybody has a lot of 'ideas, suggestions, bugs, features'...

probalby a monkey from a zoo can easily make a low konfig by writing a lot of 0's in the cfg...a lot more bigger problem is the unusable huds, and ofc lot of retards playing ica instead of ictf or ift. the lack of players could be solved by a steam support, thats all.

Only because the game gets promoted on Steam this doesn't mean that the game gets more players. Sure some will try it out, but 99% of them will leave, so where is the point? The problem is the "Beta"-status imo.
Also only because you can type a "0" behind a cvar it doesn't mean that the config gets more preformance trough it. That's why the dev-team wants to clean the cvars in 0.7 version. There are just to many cvars where noone aside from Vic knows how they work, thus making a config with all "0" as value more incompetent than one created by someone who actually knows what he is doing.

4. Basic config in q3 is the same crap. You have to do it yourself to get a decent one. Wheres the difference to warsow ? q3 doesnt even HAVE low, mid, high

6. Mods are good. Racesow > basic race, promod > basic duel/ca

first of all, if you want to participate in this website you have to register an account first. This goes more to the QL forums NA newbs that are spreading this site with their boring trolling (np if it is fun), but still.

ofc I booted up the game before posting here. I also read the forums for a while, and I played the game since 0.12 (or earlier, can't remember). That's why I said that "wsw is dead".

About the quake live comparison, QL has different profiles, the menu is simply perfect and you have to admit that both QL and CPMA (rather cpm for a direct comparison) are on a whole different level than warsow quality-wise, and those were made with competition features in mind.

Don't get me wrong I really liked the game before 0.4. I used to be the southamerican champion and played quite a bit when I lived in the states. The thing is it started as a great project with a lot of potential, but nowadays 0.6 (and its updates) is simply boring and bland in comparison with the said 2 games, and actually QL hurt warsow's playerbase a lot.

and yes, I'm butthurt that I asked for competitive, or rather basic, features and that Jal dismissed them twice.
As of now it is literally unplayable with vertexlightning because the crosshair becomes almost invisible and there's no command to fix that and it's been like that in every version. Mouseaccel is simply badly implemented, fov ratio was different than every other game (maybe that's fixed by now), the item, weapon and movement balance just doesn't work properly, movement was changed and it was disliked to the point "defraggers" made a mod to not use it, and so on,

as I said on another thread, I'll keep trying warsow's newest versions and if something is good enough I'll spend some time playing it, but I don't think so since nowadays the direct comparison is Quake Live, which has 100x the playerbase (at least 67,000 active players according to qlranks) and in the end is the best fast fps game available, with maybe the exception of cpm with its 17 players (against the 13 people who signed up for this wsw cup) or QW. I hope it gets better so there are more alternatives

I'm glad you stop to play Warsow. :) and why every player from ql like to speak about ql in warsow threads? This is another game with its own spirit and ideas! No one insits you to play and discuss the game that you doesn't like.

Srsly, why do you think that item/weapon/movement is not working in W§W??? It works absolutely perfectly (atleast if you use PROMOD which will be the new standard in 0.7) you just shouldn't compare it to QL or CPM cuz they are two completely different games that don't have anything in common with Warsow.

I'm starting to get really pissed off by people who try to compare different games just because they have the same gametypes/basic ideas. The gameplay of a game is something you can't compare at all to another game from the same genre, you can compare graphics/sound/technical stuff but not the feel a game has because every game is unique and great in it's own way.

considering that currently the game's balance doesn't work and it's been like that for years, that even defraggers don't use basewsw's movement, and that at least 90% of the community left when QL was released, you can't really think the game can't be much improved nor say that it is perfect; if it were much more people would be playing it and just leave other similar fps games, or rather not abandon playing warsow completely.
It desesperately needs some major changes, not just improvements and fixes following the same ideas that got the game to the state it is right now.

and as for unique...it isn't. It's just a mix of aspects copied from other games using a modified q2 engine. There are very few unique fps games, but warsow still falls on the "unrealistic fast fps game with air control and fast weapon switch" category, in which almost everyone on this site agrees that cpm, qw and pk>>>>warsow.

Warsow is just a game. No matter if it dead or alive. Someone plays it and has a lot of fun. I love this game since 0.3's releasing, and for me wsw >>> all. Any problems with that fact?
