A friend of mine recently stated that he felt like watching some good games, maybe jump back on the quake train. What are your favourite Quake Live VODs, which ones do you consider to be the best? Pls post some links =)
thy
When i was a little kid I believed in Rambo but then people told me everything is fake... 10 years latter i saw Noctis play TDM...I always knew those fuckers were lying!
while for quake players it can be exciting, for non quaker spectator its just boring... cmon... 22 minutes of map and no frags.. thats kinda unquakeish :D
no wonder ESL dropped quake, ppl found it boring i assume... nowadays QL, with bigger hitboxes, and medicore score games on every map [even dm13!] is much more enjoyable for random spectator
Yes, you did. The analogy was that no matter the genre, tactics and strategies are integral to the end success, and the more refined they are, the deeper the gameplay gets, the more entertaining it is.
22 minutes and no frags. So what? The intensity of the game and it's drama does not hinge on the amount of frags scored, but rather on the decisions both players make and their outcome. It's something even a person that does not play the game can appreciate.
If you prefer shitty frag fests where both players are rushing each other constantly without any plan, it's your choice, but don't present your subjective opinion as fact.
Also fix your attitude, you're coming off as a raged pre-teen shithead.
tactics are needed, but not to degree when ur scared to rush a guy whos at stack disadvantage... at this moment game gets boring... and this game was boring, and both cypher and rapha played shit... its not hard to chose safe option whole match... ofc the shit hitboxes didnt help, as rapha would love to +b any attempt of cypher attack, but still - game was boring...
ow and what intensity you were talking about? hidding and running away on every map, not even trying to make some dmg?
and im too hungovered to be nice to stupid ppl, whom i despise
You still don't understand. I'm not taking this particular game as an example, i'm dismantling your silly parallel between frags and entertainment. The tactical element helps improve the spectating experience, as it showcases the depth, magnitude and importance of the choices players make. Dramatic tension can be built regardless of whether there are frags and constant action, or not.
The same holds true to virtually any game or sport, depending on personal preference. Having an idea of what you're watching can help to notice the subtle and fine elements of what you're observing, of course, but it's not necessary if you possess a functioning brain and spend more than 5 minutes thinking about what you're watching.
I can't help if your preconceptions are false, i can only tell you why.
Bonus: I found that game you are talking about to be extremely exciting, as did many people who i recommended it to and who never played Quake before, in any way, shape or form. Go crack that nut, chief.

-> epic rocket juggle on strenx t7 with 'where is the skill, and right here comments'
-> epic dahang double air rocket on dm6
-> epic czm ZTN q3 rape
-> epic cooller vs cypher grand final at qcon, hitting 100 percent rail on aerowalk
