1.55m/s is the max speed before getting negative accel. That's a lot really. There's no way someone can realistically move their mouse faster than 1.5 meters a second, so you can use whatever sens you want.

In my experience you won't have problems if you use accel (cypher's settings are superb), and if you don't you can still be an asshole and not have any issues.

Stermy plays with 22.8cm/360 using 4.55 sens with a wmo (400dpi), which is fast enough to move around the map easily. I used a similar sens when I started playing ql and it worked flawlessly.
Tox plays with 35.4cm/360 using sens 4.3, m_yaw 0.015 and m_pitch -0.018, which is very low sens yet it seems he has no negative accel issues. He wouldn't reach the max speed even if he swipes his mouse through his icemat 5 times in a second.

Lets suppose you go berserk and use 40cm/360 using a qck heavy (45cm, 40cm considering that the sensor is in the middle of the mouse). To reach negative accel you'll need to use it to its fully extent 4 times in a single second. That's absurd, and there's no need to do four 360s in that period of time lol

sure but you can move your mouse 30cm and still hit high speeds, without doing a single 360.

The way i play i hit negative accel with ie3 and wmo so often i cant play with them....but if u are used to it and dont do much "flick" moves u'll do ok i guess.

I use cypher's settings, which is about 25cm/360 with 0.1 accel, so I'm nowhere near that threshold

ye just think a little bit ffs... in a steady state motion, i dont doubt that wmo can track 1.55m/s, but when acelerating it can give you negative acceleration earlier... and what if tox is used to its negative accel? things aren't just as linear as you put it...

It's not hard to move a mouse over 1.55m/s brah.

erh, I tested myself on enotus today and apparently I go between 1.7-2.1m/s with 15cm/360 on my abyssus and I mostly use wrist movements with a bit of arm for adjustments.

You should always set your mouse sensitivity at exactly 2.732 400dpi because it is the best sensitivity.

This sensor has 430DPI.

that's been discussed a gazillion times. Most people say it's exactly 400, others 413-415, 430 and 450. Lets just say it is 400.

I play Excessive Plus for a long time on low sensitivity (50cm/360) but this negative acceleration was to long too worrisome.

Simple math says you won't ever reach that threshold even with 50cm/360, unless you really must do three 360s in a second and you have bionic arms or something.

I don't know what the fuck you are talking about, because it isn't hard at all to hit the max speed on a WMO. Not even remotely difficult. When I played at 50cm/360 I would hit 2-3m/s routinely. I think when I used Enotus and was just trying to go as fast as I could I hit 4 something.

I see what you're saying in #3, but you need to realize that you don't have to actually move 1.5 meters in a second to be moving at a speed of 1.5 meters per second. If you drive your car 30 miles per hour but only go half a mile, does that mean you didn't move at 30 mph?

first of all, it's ridiculous to play quake with 50cm/360. Tox's settings are considered to be very llow sens and anything above that without accel is begging for tendinitis.

secondly, and most importantly, I'm an idiot and you are completely right, but the first point remains to be true in a fast paced fps game.

I often hit neg accel with wmo and i dont have a very low sens.

=36.3 cm/360 which is legitimately low but because you have a ~ 1 : 2 yaw pitch split and no prediction ( or rather very little ) you get the idea that you have a higher sens because of the curving in your mouse movements.

Why you use different yaw and pitch?

and moving up and down is harder than side to side so higher pitch values can be more comfortable.

I have a high pitch because accurate vertical movements arent really required by any games and I want to be able to rocketjump just using my wrist.

Mhhh that somehow sounds too low to be true, perhaps the 0,2 accel play into it but I've always seen myself to have a rather high sensitivity.

as I said the curving movements of your hands helps increase the sens by feel, try running around with lower pitch value for 5 mins and then switch back and you'll feel the difference, and yes the accel with have a big impact especially if it isn't senscapped and because of the yaw pitch difference.

My pc is broken and I'm stuck with my netbook for a while so I can't test anything but the point is that - accel or not - I don't need to move my mouse very far to make any of the moves I usually do ingame. In fact I have (had) a pretty small mousepad so I couldn't have moved my mouse very far even if i wanted.
But even then there were plenty of situations where the negative accel of the wmo was giving me trouble.

I've tested it on Goliathus Speed, Titan, QcK, Icemat 2nd.EDITION and always the same result - 430DPI (precise 10cm in Enotus).

I think someone could write a linux app that would read from dev/mouse , then count the mickeys in a given direction while moving the mouse a certain distance with some guides and a ruler.

Should answer the question once and for all.

The sensor has a 400 CPI specification. There's a lot of talk about different CPI values, but I believe the actual CPI can change based on how tight the internal screws are locked down. (distance between IC and lens)

The older 1.1s and 3.0s are actually very loose compared to the 07 1088 models due to a larger screws and how they set. (Wish I could show you a pic) The hardware itself looks identical and there isn't any external change I'm aware of besides the smaller screw holes on the PCB.

it varies depending on surface/distance by up to 20%. You can find in in sensor's tech specifications.
