First off the kinzu sensor has positive acceleration. So that's kind of shit depending on your personal sensitivity styles.

And yes, I remember there was a game with him vs someone else on stream where he said he could aim better with the mx518, I thought it was funny since he's using a kinzu and it kind of defeats the purpose of the sponsorship if everyone knows his aim is worse with that product.

I'm glad he switched though. Personally I hate those kind of sponsorships, because there are many Quake players who hate the Steelseries mice. Honestly, they've yet to make a good mouse. Kinzu had accel, Xai had tracking issues, Kinzu v2 and Kana use pixart sensors which has a false dpi, tracking issues, and a cursor bug that is prominent while playing games.

There were players at Quakecon who were complaining about the mice, and wanted to use their mice. They knew there was barely any spectators around so they thought it wouldn't matter.

At least Razer has SOME mice that are deemed pretty good, DA 3.5, abyssus, etc. Sure some have problems, but they're miles ahead of Steelseries in regards to a proper performing mouse.

I honestly feel bad for a lot of those players. Nothing worse than being amazing at a game, landing on a sponsored team, and forced to use a shitty mouse from a "professional gaming peripheral" company. If their products were that good, you wouldn't see top players having to switch from wmo's, mx300's, mx518s, ms 3.0s, and other good mice, to something else.

Yeah there are exceptions to players, but I think this is true for the most part.

It's pretty hilarious, I've seen it a few times -- when a player has to use the sponsor's equipment, and not only do they admit that they're only using it because they're paid to, but they complain about how much it sucks compared to the alternatives. Either the sponsors are throwing money down the drain, or we the consumers are ever stupider than I thought :)

the consumer is fooled, yes. idk why but a few decades ago we all went from "we need stuff that is rocksolid" to "we need the newest stuff" in just every aspect of life.

get a mechanical keyboard, get a nonbuggy mice - stick to both forever and you are fine. the only milestone that has ever happened was optical sensors for mice. apart from that the input devices of the late 80's work just as well lol.

If strenx will win a lan now with mx518, it'll be my next mouse. :D

Dunno how true is that, but strenx told me he's planning to give up Quake soon. Also he said he intends to share his knowledge as much as he can (like he did on stermy stream etc.).
