Yeah I've tried it before, but I don't use it. I didn't bother setting it for each weapon though, I just set the zoom % for all guns, since it only really works when you hold attack down.

I used it before the alias command was enabled in QL, it was the only way to do it. But now I'd probably just make a new alias, because it keeps the zoom function. Actually got it here from when I was messing around with it (it changes the crosshair too):

I have tried this before too, after awhile I felt that the diverging sensitivities messed with you too much and the disadvantages were worse than the advantages. I hit a lot anyway now a days, so I'm not worried about increasing my aim.

Don't forget to put dpi on 3500, driver sens 2 :))

On a serious note: IMO having different sensitivities per weapon is a bad thing, especially if you use accel too. If you need more smoothness for certain weapons try playing around with m_filter instead.

Why don't you simply use zoom with these weapons? I have +zoom bound to space and use very often with every weapon in certain situations. (Although you wrote smth about ca and it's risky to use zoom against more than 1/2 enemies at the time).

yea, i used to do this back in q3 and some of my teammates tried it out aswell, not one of us liked it though.

Pretty neat. Clever usage of zoomsense and makes it functional cvar in a round-about way. I played with it a little bit and agree it feels pretty nice.

fau: thread has nothing to do with zoom. It's about using a second sensitivity modifying cvar (zoomsense) to minorly increase precision when firing hitscan weapons while approximately retaining the relationship of all your other mouse input settings without spending hours of trial and error. When you set your zoomfov to your fov you get a pretty awesome and easy way to modify your precision by simply changing your zoomsense. It's a zoom cvar being used for a different purpose than zoom. It's pretty elegant actually and takes the multitude of mouse settings out of the equation and makes it easy to be "When I LG/MG/PG/hitscan...I want x percent of what I normally play with shaved off".

My point was that with zoom you get the same advantage of lowered sens (relative to enemy size/speed) and biger enemy model (makes it easier for your eyes to pinpoit it). Cons are reduced enemy awareness (doesn't matter in duel) and harder dodging. I mentioned it as an better alternative to this method.

I used a script years ago that zoomed in and fired with shaft all in one click ....seems good on paper but gets really weird in close combat :) Got it from the "real" shaft-mastor Lukrek :D Ofc this was in OSP when shafting was about skill and prediction.

I experienced some script and finaly, the best for my LG aim is to set the same zoomfov as my fov and lower the zoomsensitivity.
I don't like to change fov while LGing.

for exemple i use cg_fov 100
cg_zoomfov 100; cg_zoomsensitivity 0.8

This way i keep my usual sens for close LG fight, and can lower a bit my sens when needed while zooming.

I was using something similar a few months ago but instead of zoomsensitivity I used the m_yaw and m_pitch commands. It feels really nice but for me it doesn't give any advantage in game if it comes to aiming... Maybe because my sens is more like low/mid than high... don't know. Anyways this script should be really usefull for high sens players.
