What is this anyway? It appears to be some sort of ladder, but the scoring system makes it rather odd way to function as such.

If nothing else, it's a good way to find players to play that don't insist on playing ZTN or DM6.

Versus is like a ladder but you play against random players and you don't have to make all this organizing stuff like setting up the dates, etc..

It's a alternative to a normal ladder but much easier and faster!

Versus is a faster and easier alternative for the Ladders. With only a few clicks you bring you and your friends to a match against other ESL players. Enjoy features such as skill balancing, very simple rules and the chance to gain XP in Quake Live.

I actually prefer it than the 1on1 Ladder because it's really simple and fast as long there are enough players at the same time ;)

damn this community only whines.. as it seems we are given a 2nd chance, people whine about not enough lan quake dying etc but this sort of things help..

if we want more quake, more lans etc we just need to play as community in this sort of things right?

I honestly think this is a nice initiative for a competitive game like Quakelive.

The only thing I can say is that the mappool of TDM is rather small. I would like to see dm14, ... in it. Teamplay would not be a problem cuz you can share a comms server on VERSUS. :)

I hope people start using this with all the other irc channel alternatives that are already available.

Concept is simple:
You click on the "Play vs." button, take Quake Live, choose the mode you want to play, it automatically starts searching. After a match is generated, you can vote between 2 maps. You paste the link in the chat, play your match and report after. If an other guy fakes his result, you can use the VETO system, which means you need to upload a ss of the score and an admin will check and approve.

TDM map pool can easily be enlarged. Just a matter of activity... we could for example do special nights on those new maps made by akm.

CA will be added soon as well.

Last but not least, I think we had a great EMS final between strenx & k1llsen and it is sad to see a game like QL being removed from EMS, but if we (ESL QL) and the community work together, we surely can reach EMS XI.

How about id allows free lan support so netcafe owners can host QL servers for people to come and play locally like in the old days (with your real friends) instead of spending your time at home.
