The TF Speed is comfy around edges, it certainly have more friction then the 9hd, but still one of the quickest cloth pad, compared to the original it is thinner making it feel more like a hard surface but it is still cloth, the Speed is ofc faster then the old one but not dramatically.

Both pads have crap rubber base.

Grab youself a CorePad Cerro - its basically the same as G-TF Speed but with alot better rubber base.

G-TF Speed definitely has a weird, slightly annoying base...but only because it death-grips the surface it is on. I dunno, maybe because my desktop being glass has something to do with it. I imagine it would stick as well to laminate. It occurs to me it might not stick well or at all to a rough wooden/unfinished/unlaquered desktop. What is your desk made out of? I can take this mouse pad and slap it on my window and it will stay there. I can't really see the base being an issue. G-TF Speed is an awesome pad, the only caveat that it is NOT a cloth pad as it is advertised. While it is technically MADE of cloth, it feels and plays like a hard-pad ie no cushioning or give or depth to the pad.

The only thing I miss from my Talent is the lack of cushioning in the G-TF Speed. I mean, the G-TF Speed wouldn't really work with cushioning, but at the same time, as a long time Soft Padder, losing that ability to push into the cushioning for additional control when you need it is disappointing.
