Safe mode loads up the most basic range of services, you might find that the software that comes with your mouse is bloated crap that adds all sort of junk that is not loaded in safe mode, but is loaded in "normal mode".

And that's not to mention all the other services that kick in under normal windows mode, all of which will have an impact on the mouse.

I always prefer the feel of safe mode, sadly it does not have video or audio support beyond the basics so its not viable to use for anything beyond basic or admin purposes.

If you're really desperate, you can make a note of the services loaded up in safe mode and try and get as close to that as possbile in normal mode via msconfig and powertools. But it will probably end in tears and the more obsessive you get, the less liekly you'll adapt when things change and they do.

IMO its the firmware or software that comes with your MOUSE, many pros use a MS mouse with nothing but native mouse support for the reason you talk about.

Thx for reply.Yes, i am already using msconfig to disable undesired services but actually i am using windows 7 which i really like for everything except gaming, so i am a lot desperate about it.I am thinking to use both OS.Windows 7 is accel free but floaty as hell.I am using MWO 1.1 and just bought Steelseries Kana for its similar shape but for some reason MWO 1.1 is faster then Kana and it has same dpi, probably there are some other factors influent mouse sensitivity.

I feel no difference mouse wise. Safe mode feels exactly the same here. Polling looks a bit less stable in safe mode, but it's only a visual phenomenon and feels the same for me.

FYI: It's impossible to improve the mouse movement by disabling official system services. This is not win98 anymore and disabling such services could only make windows boot a bit faster (in very extreme cases), or can free you up some little amount of memory. Idling services do nothing to system performance, let alone the mouse.

If you have problems with your mouse movement, it's the hardware/polling or its the driver of the chipset, the mouse or the driver of the video-card.

No one said official, and I doubt very much you've tested your theory under credible circumstances. You're basing a confident reply on something you could not possibly know for sure without trying it.

And I doubt you've tried it and I doubt there is a single thread on the net where someone has written an article on what you claim.

Which means either you have (in which case you would have posted your findings), or you're basing a strong opinion on something you don't really know if its true or not, especially as you do not have his setup.

I don't educate myself about computers with google, and I obviously tested it else I would not post about it (like an attention-whore), and I can't (and won't) post all the things I found out about the technology behind computers mice, nor I would really need to regarding a simple question like this one.

I just saw he posted that he is disabling services, so I thought that I will let him know that the official ones are mean no harm for sure.

The Internet is full of clueless system optimization sites where dumb people suggesting horrible things like disabling the "DNS Client Service" or the "Task Scheduler Service" would improve system performance, while the reality is the dead opposite and can be measured any time.

I really love Google and I obviously Google a lot and use it to obtain info when I don't know something, but I don't post solutions for others based only on googled info, and that's a huge difference.

well, i am using in_mouse 2 but its just because i want same sensitivity everytime i launch QL but i am more accurate with flick shots with in_mouse -1 because its simply more ressponsive...

yes but in_mouse -1 is heavily affected by framerate. I don't have experience with this on low sens, but it was made back, when there were only 400 DPI mice. I guess thats why most game use direct input after Quake3. But yea i used to like the feeling of in_mouse -1. I still remember anir/aion doing a mouse tool like "rinput" to combine the benefits from "-1" with the benefits from "1". So if on "-1" the mousepointer hits the screenedges and accel would occur, it immediatly would switch to "1" to compensate the "lag" .The thing was called mouseforce with mf_hybrid.dll, if im right.

I tryied play with mouseforce, rinput, i know how it feels like.Didnt know that in_mouse -1 is affected by framerate, that explain a lot.I am not playing just QL, iam interested about enemy territory too which is not using direct input and has just in_mouse -1.I allways got best results with cpl fix in ET and anirs fix in CSS, in CSS felt like an aimbot and got kicked many times, aiming and flickshots were so easy.After i bought LCD monitor and switch to win7 everything is gone.

With anirs fix u mean accelfix.exe for XP? i know theres a wcafix for windows 7. I even have it somewhere on my HDD. AFAIK it does the same like accelfix.exe just without restart. I didn't find much about it on google. Guess everyone is fine with MarkC's mousefix then.

Yes i mean accelfix.exe, i found that it works properly only with service pack 2, there can be problem with SP3.I really apreciate work of MarkC, but his fix are not necessary for me.Theres is another fix called wcafix for win XP and Win 7 64bit,, i tried it just for XP and it feels floaty for me.
