What are your views on playing with ryu as I always seemed quite partial to the balanced fighting style with him or rather how can somebody get good with ryu?

I never bonded with ryu, I always found him too boring, probably because everyone picked him and screens are filled with shotos.
plus most people know how to play vs him.

I will say a good ryu is constantly aware of their distance in relation to you, and becuse they have so few gimmicks to win with, they tend to become very good by understanding the real aspects of what wins them games.

yeah I recently started playing sf again after not playing it since I was 10-12 and I always did fierce special attacks and never varied much mainly because I always played cpu but almost instantly as I started playing I started seeing the benefits of varying your jab straight and fierce specials like gauging when the enemy is gonna drop so you can make sure a hadouken is right below his feet and such.
also would you consider dhalsim (pokey) gimmicky?

Sim is pokey, but requires a LOT of skill to play well these days becuase there are SO MANY matchups, you would get overwhelmed. His whole game is long distance so mistakes cost you games more than others, the upside is you have the advantage from the time the round starts. But one mistake and its GG.

If you want a quick way in, buy SSf4:Ae pc, pick akuma (similar to ryu) and go through the training mode, he's a top character at a pro level and its not even funny how effective you can be with him with little skill due to his air fireballs and teleport escapes.

He's for failed Ryu players :)

Luckily the SSF4 game bridges the gap between good and newer players, so you'll still be able to have games that feel a lot closer than you would vs the old versions.

I play ryu a ton better than akuma.

Akuma's execution is harder.

Losing by that much to player like that is better than winning against lesser players IMO.

It's pretty simple in these games, you either win or you lose and there's nothing in between.

Losing by two pixels vs the world champ is better than winning against a lesser player.

Not true, youtube caches the initial image or the one you specified in the embedded preview, so you still get to see it before you click it, assuming no alternative scripts/flashblock etc.

That's the thing, more often than not I don't want to see the images people upload, it would be better if you had an option, so maybe you have a standard image icon like a red cross or a small preview, then do some modal window thing like lighbox if you click on it-it zooms, it'll could bandwidth for the user and server and useful for people who view via mobile devices.

On big threads which lots of images you kinda HAVE to view the images just to read the threads.
