I actually upgraded to said Ł1000 pc just so i could play bf3 in all its glory and whist it is fun, it just isnt quake :-)

My previous PC which i used to play quakelive on was the same pc i'd had since 2005 in quake3 or thereabouts, it was pretty shit. So to enjoy battlefield i decided i was due an upgrade and got to be honest it was worth every penny! It does let me play bf3 in max settings :-D

the same scenario happened with me about the time crysis came out, but getting a new PC was the primary reason, although crysis was the immediate secondary reason I was looking forward to the most :D That and replaying HL2.

Practically unrelated, but among other issues, those F18's could not fly that slow without stalling :-)

the reason i know the two posters who said only the sound is better are full of it.....is because the graphics in bf3 are absolutely mind blowing and nothing looks like it. I've played all the latest games....nothing compares in lighting textures visuals and even performance.

its optimized well because its actually designed for the pc.

And there is no exaggeration to what i say either....bf3 on high settings and a decent resolution are amazing.

and unlike most other games....Bf3 on the pc......looks 10 times better then bf3 on the console.

BF3 is shit... period.

The GFX are good but not that good. The sound is great. But gameplay (the most important part in a pc-shooter) sucks dick. The story sucks pretty badly too.

I had a much greater experience playing Crysis with DX10 on max. Details than I had playing BF3 in DX11 and Max. Details. Crytech made a really new and fresh game while Dice only recycled a cash-cow again with a bit better gfx and good sound. Same was done with CoD over and over again. CoD 1 and 2 were great PC-Shooters, from there on the franchise got thorn trough the mud over and over again untill we finally got "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3".

EA Games is probably the shittiest publisher out there. They are only out for profit, even more than Activision or Blizzard are/were.

Getting a 1000€ PC is never worth it since you can play every game on 24" Monitor in decent details with even 500€ budget. 1000€ could be worth it if you do heavy video-editing or gfx-design, but then you probably won't get along with 1000€. The only more stupid idea than buying a 1000€ PC solely for playing BF3/gaming in general is buying a Macbook Air.

BF3 is meh. BF2 was better IMO. Although the graphics are outstanding in bf3, I cba to play it seriously.

BF2 was a better game. I agree....it still had many more features and options and gameplay not available in bf3. But the console world is just getting a first taste.

But the only reason to build a new pc is for graphics. and lemme tell you...unlike any other game....including crysis 2. The pc version of bf3 looks nothing like the console version.. Even some gameplay is diff. itsjust a totally diff game.


and lets face it not only do the graphics blow away bf2...and any other game out there.....it even blows away bc2. I mean blows it out of the water while running even better.

the reason why is because games designed and optimized for the new dx10/11 actually run better then games like crysis that are just super imposed dx 10 on a game based around blurry dx9. and not optimized at all...

just for the fact alone that ea dice is designing games specifically for the pc....which no other commercial company is doing......they deserve support.

crysis with dx10? hahaha...not only looks horrible...but runs horrible. Its a scam...its only dx10 on paper but doesn't look like it in reality when playing the game I'm sorry. Its not really dx10 imo. It looks more similar to rage.

and my point is if you are gonna build a 1000 dollar pc for gaming......the only game worth it is bf3. Its the only game in existence taking advantage of the new pc hardware technology. And imo its noticeable when comparing it to any other game. I've played them all.

You don't play a game because it has awesome graphics. It only works the other way around when you really appreciate if a good game has some outstanding visuals. The two scenario is like night and day.

why buy a graphics card with dx11...if no game uses the technology. Why spend all that money for nothing...thats my point. Its not like anybody really built a game for dx10. Even EA DICE went from dx9 to dx11. so there really is no guarantee dx11 will even be used much in the future.


actually no game BUT bf3 truly uses dx11... which is my point. its optimized for new hardware and software...where i can't think of a single other game that is.

I am disappointed with today's graphics, with bf3 as an exception. I was expecting photo-realistic graphics about now, but it looks like that will take another 5 to 10 years. apparently it is too hard to just copy reality as every second game fucks it up so bad

Since console development is still the main focus, development is restricted by their hardware. I'm sure we'd be there already, if PC was the only platform. Then again, graphics improvements are suffering diminishing returns.

ql's gameplay is just 9thou times better than bf3...

There are only 2 games I respect, ql and sc2.

SC2 is more a strategy game to me.... but ya ql has better gameplay then bf3.


what is it you like about sc2 compared to quake?

I like the way they skill match and ban abusive alts. But besides that its not my type of game. I prefer fps multiplayers.
