Odd, I have read several users having the same problems. Did you get the Abyssus while its still young and when its in its teens it starts going against you?

Ps. I suppose you know that lol edition is supposed to be jitter free? I dont use mine really, but I didnt notice any jitter on it.

Mine was an LoL edition. It was "jitter-free" for around the first two weeks and out of the blue it started jittering at vertical angles w/ my raindrop.

My only guess is that it took some time for the new pad/feet to break in... ah well..

It does 500hz hz default it seems, no need to tweak it your self. At least that what happened to me. I couldn't get it to work at 1000hz tho :(

think about side-button that you could lock. so all the ppl that want side buttons can enable them mechanically! all the others can just 'fix' them and it should feel like they are not even there. that would be neat! I have no idea how that look like but I, for one, always welcome side buttons! Even though I do not use them ingame, they are pretty useful for windows.

rjumps, maybe? i tend to fuck them up every now and then and in tdm that's kind of a big deal. i hate to concentrate on something trivial like this, i don't like that a stupid jump can mess with an otherwise fine game.

you can fix that with the angle you hit the "shot", most of the time atleast.
i only use it to do the "big jumps" anyway, like on dm14 to go to rail or up the window.

If its trivial then there should be no need for it, if you screw it up from time to time then you've publically admitted you cheat, because that script stops you from making mistakes that could otherwise hinder your performance and allow someone else to capitalise on it.

you don't happen to have played qw and remember a player who went by the nick of "dag" or someone called "def"?
they both used to use this http://wiki.quakeworld.nu/Strafescript which is now banned in the newer ezquake versions.

my point is, i'm not playing "who can do 10 perfect rjumps in a row", i'm playing tdm and i don't want a game potentially be ruined by a failed rjump (with bs on dm14 for example).

you have to realize that all this script does is "+/-attack,+/-moveup", i like it and will continue to use it because, while i think i got the timing down for this on my home server, rjumping becomes more difficult to time perfectly when lag is introduced.
most tdm league games do not take place on my 10ms server but will have me hopping around, therefore running into retarded "i have to delay my jumping by xx ms to not fuck this up" situations which shouldn't matter in tdm (imo).

what about the clock? people should be able to time items by feel, it's a real skill! people shouldn't be playing with picmip 6, it's far too easy to see anything! people shouldn't be playing with brightskins, lol it's almost aimbot!

in a game were your teammates are visible through walls with that stupid triangle your reasoning falls flat on its face, sorry.

it's a question about what kind of rules you are used to, there is nothing else to fall back to.

Yes, I understand, but it's like in swimming (or in sprint), there could be a machine what pushes all the athletes at the same time to give them a perfect start.

i think it's a question about what you want to be important for the outcome of a game and we've obviously different opinions on that.
i personally liked +ninja, but since it's banned i'm not going to use it, same thing if id or the leagues would outlaw rjump scripts.
as long as they don't, i will keep using it because it makes quake more enjoyable to me.

Eh, I guess I could just deal with it. I used to use a couple different 800dpi mice. WMO is just awesome though.

I guess I just don't understand why you wouldn't have a setting lower than 1000dpi on a mouse without having to use software. Seems kinda dumb to me.

Perhaps I'm not expressing myself correctly. It's not the in-game feel that I'm worried about. I know how to calculate sensitivity to give myself the same feel at 1000dpi that I have with 400dpi. It's the sensitivity in Windows on the desktop that will throw me off. It's not a huge deal really. It would just be nice if 400dpi was supported without the use of software.

You get negative accel after 1m/s. It doesn't malfunction until 2.1 m/s.

That said, I use a WMO and I NEVER skip it while I'm gaming. One of those mice that you listed I could skip at least somewhat easily I would think. It's been a while since I've handled them.

"negative accel" is just a term coined by sujoy, it's up to everyone what he/she classifies as malfunction.
in my eyes a mouse that stops being able to represent what i do with my hand in terms of input (neg accel means, above 1m/s no additional speed can be achieved no matter how fast you move your hand) is actually malfunctioning, but w/e :)

The Abyssus jitter is real and has nothing to do with how dirty anyone's house is. I purchased a total of three of them over the course of a little over a year (last one was the new LoL edition) and they all jittered on my cloth pads.

The Xai, G500, PTE mice, MX518, DA 3.5G, DA 3G, Mico, G5, Salmosa, Spawn@1800 and others don't jitter on the same pads that cause the abyssus to jitter.

In the case of the Xai jittering, you might have a point because out of the three a9500 mice I have used none of them jittered on any surface.

Ordered the mouse early last week from taobao and just got it today.

Here's my mini review. The shape is a little different than the MS mice i'm used to but it's still very comfortable. It's a little wider in the middle than the front or back and a little smaller in overall size compared to the 1.1.

My initial impression of the sensor is very good. Very little to no prediction, fairly low liftoff distance on my talent, didn't notice any jitter, and a high perfect control speed. I normally use about 13" 360 with no accel and I can't see any possible way I would go above the perfect control speed. Even using lower sens and flicking a lot I never noticed it unless I purposefully tried to hit it.

I've tried the DA, abyssus, G500, valor, etc and I always end up using MS mice, but this one looks like it may take over.

Don't want to destroy peoples hopes but as a mx300,G1/G3 lover im a little disapointed. The G100 jitters alot in paint and the cursor feels like it has smoothing or jitter correction (which obviously doesn't work to well in that case) Im very sure the liftoff will be to high for most peoples taste (not measured - just by the feel of it.) The only good thing about this mouse is that it feels perfectly accelfree in game. (And the shape is a 10/10 of course.)
Needs more testing but i already don't feel like open paint anymore.

Does someone know if the firmware is upgradable?

btw,
I was able to change the polling rate of the G100 to 250hz with hidusb. However after changing rate to 1000, i measured only 500hz after restarting.

Try using it at 1000DPI as its native the native DPI-step.
(u need setpoint drivers to change the DPI)

It really doesn't seems to be a scalling prob as its not gone even on 1000 DPI.
I already tried lowering rate, changing feeds height, almost all possible dpi values, Setpoint / OS inplementation of the driver and tried other pads (dark hardpads).

not sure if i understand ur question. This mouse doesn't have noticable prediction. The jittering is very easy to notice when u move the mouse up or down, the cursor suddenly jumps about 2 maybe 3 pixels left/right (not just 1px- im not confusing this with prediction.) i switched back to my old mouse after 2 days bcs the mouse didn't feel good to me (like playing with 200hz althougt mouserate checker says 500hz. )

Put your sensi up to 60cm+/360 and do huge swipes on your mousepad and see if you have any problems. it looks a little wide.. how do you grip your mouse? If you use claw grip, is it more comfortable than your abyssus, wmo, ime1.1?

Trying to decide between those 3 I just mentioned and possibly the ss kana or kinzu v2. I play 60cm+/360, that's why I'm asking.

Mine has the same issue, when moving it slowly it jitters. I'm using a Puretrak Talent. However it doesn't jitter if I use a white piece of paper.

I'm using 400 atm, and it doesn't seem to show the same jitter.

It seems to happen at 1000 dpi if you move the mouse really slowly. When you do for some reason it seems to guess and randomly move about (jitter). With 400 dpi obviously moving it slower means its barely moving but it doesn't seem noticeable

Messed about in quake for a bit and it didn't hinder me once. .

yes totally true. but i also never said u can't play with the mouse. im hitting targets just as fine in source games (cba trying this mouse in quake) even with higher dpi 1000+. Its just that its doesn't feel good compared to what im used to. (G9 or zowie mico were the latest mice.) As a med/high senser there is no point in getting this mouse, as there are better low dpi mice with the pilot optical/mx300/g1 shape. I ordered a faked G1 from ebay which can switch between 1000 and 1400 dpi without drivers and feels much more responsive. no accel, 1cd liftoff, but heavier prediction as the old orginal 800dpi "G1". (but yea, as we aready know every mouse has to have at least 1 flaw)

Ordered a G100 from eBay, will report my findings once I get it.

Have been using an MX300 since 2003, with brief tries with other mice along the way. Still using an MX300 today but I'm worried it'll break soon.

Will be using it on a black cloth pad (Ulti-Mat Breathe x4), unfortunately I don't have other pads available.

Can and will at least determine if the perfect control and malfunction speeds are lower than on MX300 (3.9 m/s). Factory specs say 4+ m/s, that remains to be seen.

OK after preliminary tests on G100 I can safely say that it is as fast as an MX300. I was able to do a few random skips but not consistently, so I think I will chuck that as an anomaly.

The drivers allowed me to set the dpi switch button to back, as it is in mx300.

The feet are really nice, sliding absolutely perfectly on my Ulti-Mat Breathe X4 (black cloth pad).

The wheel is very silent and smooth, no crazy noise or slack. The top button is slightly more in front of the mouse, which will take some getting used to but is fine IMO.

I play on a 360� / 55cm sensitivity, so I do some really fast flicks from time to time and I was not able to skip this mouse consistently, so I think I found my new mouse. Gonna have to order another one to keep on the shelf just in case this one breaks down.

I do not notice anything wrong with it. I tried drawing in paint so that I would start at a point, draw directly down and then back up without letting go, aiming to draw two straight lines on top of eachother.

I am pretty bad at vertical lines, always have been, but I succeeded a few times quite perfectly, mostly slightly wavy tho.

There is no prediction or jitter that I can notice. In-game in CPMA with raw mouse input the smoothness is superb.

Actually, allow me to correct myself a little.

I just tried to crank up the sensitivity to maximum in terms of DPI and the speed and I noticed quite a bit of that "micro-jittering". However, at this point my mouse speed was so that I went across my whole desktop within about 1 cm.

Also, I noticed that the micro-jittering went almost completely away when I tried the mouse on my wooden desk, indicating that a black cloth surface is probably not ideal for the mouse.

However, since my mouse sensitivity is so low I have never noticed the jittering even on my cloth pad when gaming or browsing etc.

wait lemme correct that all the mice I've tried that supposedly have no prediction still felt like they had a small amount of it and also could draw semi-straight lines.

Also I don't get this dumb obsession with have a mouse with no prediction , the only time I can comprehend that it would effect anybody is with 4cm/360~ or that the prediction is so heavy it can't curve at all ( newest kinzu firmware ).

I would suspect that what you're talking about is simply a case of poor pixel accuracy.

You know how you can set up the mouse so that if you move it extremely slowly, the cursor will stay still and then move one pixel, even tho you're constantly moving it.

Now apply that effect into a horizontal line. You're constantly moving the mouse sideways but only very slightly vertically. Even tho you're moving it vertically, it hasn't gone past the point where the cursor would move a single pixel vertically, hence the illusion of prediction.

Not sure if that was coherent or not.

Well the only way I think you can do that is through the windows sens multiplier and I never took it away from default 6 and did the same in linux and got the same effect by keeping my hand steady where I would get a few vertical notches but not enough to just that it doesn't have prediction since I can feel my hand move slightly up or down and not see it register on the screen.

Well I have tried two mice that don't have prediction. The Steelseries XAI and this G100. To me it is very clear that neither of them has prediction, since I get slight waves in lines constantly.

I guess the best test would be to get something like a book on your mousepad that has a very straight edge and then move it along the edge to be sure that it's level and moves straight. And then just move it in a very small angle.

It might of course be that it's just the contrast between for example mx300 which has extremely clear prediction and G100 which seems like it has none. Maybe they have some very small amounts of it, but I personally can't notice it.

Better tests are needed I guess. :)

i also ordered a korean g1. i will probably end up just using the g1 if i notice this jitter issue.

I noticed that on a lower DPI the micro jitter is far less noticeable. On a 400 DPI I pretty much didn't notice it at all, even on a very high sensitivity. Of course on 400 DPI the pixel skipping is already ridiculous, but at least the jitter is gone.

On a low sensi player like me 400 DPI is already enough, so even tho I never noticed the jittering on high DPI I think I'll stick to 400 just in case. :)

I'm not sure if you are really aware of the way a mouse behaves in correlation between dpi and your actual hand movement, isn't the 'micro-jitter' just your hand's fault? set it to sth. reasonable (1600 dpi) and check if there's jitter

If you're a low sensi player I am quite certain you won't notice any jitter.

However, if you're a very high sensi player and have a cloth pad (or some other pad it doesn't agree with) you might notice it.

i see u updated the first post. Any news if theres even a Avago 3053 version of it? Did someone already opened the black/red version? All i see is ppl uploading white version of it. I forgot to choose which version to order and got the white version too. I wonder whats th deal with the black/red version. Why did logitech even bother making 2 versions at the same time. (they never cared to do that with other mice)

I think you're being a bit dramatic when you say it has pretty bad prediction. It's clearly there but it doesn't seem so bad.

take a look at his vertical lines on the G100. That make it very clear whats the issue. It looks like he moves down the mouse and then suddenly moves like 2-3 pixels to the left, where it should be like 1 pixel according to physical moved distance. Thats the whole problem of the sensor. Real prediction is much better than this.

Received the Korean version today (http://www.logitech.com/ko-kr/mice-pointers/mice/devices/8397) and it clearly has the jitter issue. Didn't notice it at all with the white one though.

I received the Korean glossy version today and there is no jitter on either the Puretrak Talent or Razer Goliathus Control. Glad I bought 2 :)

Just got mine today - I am happy to report that the latest SetPoint software lets you set the DPI to any value between 250 and 2500.

Heres a graph of various shapes, done both with the G100 and the MX300 for comparison. I have no clue what jitter is, and I have never been bothered by prediction in the past, but I figure other people will find this of interest.

Did this on a black cloth mat at 400DPI.

Of course u can change the DPI with setpoint. And prediction hasn't been the issue. Maybe try DPI 600+ to make it more obvious.

Thought I'd report this unfortunate event here:
After approximately 2 months of use, my G100 is starting to fail. The sensor somehow fails to register movements to the right properly.

I noticed this ingame when turns to the right got weird. First I thought it was just some shit in the sensor eye so I tried cleaning it, but that didn't work.

It is a bit subtle, and an average user most likely wouldn't even notice it. I measure my sensitivity by turning a full 360� on my mousepad, which is 55cm wide. That makes it the ideal way to determine if the sensor is consistent.

Well I took a spot on a wall ingame and did a full circle turn to the left, a perfect 360. Then the same thing to the right, about 45 degrees short. I repeated this process dozens of times and the right hand turn was always a little short.

I tried my MX300 just in case the problem was somewhere else, but MX300 worked perfectly, which leads me to believe that the G100 sensor is nearing it's end.

Fortunately I have a new G100 waiting in the post office and I'll get it tomorrow. Let's hope I won't have to make a similar post about that one anytime soon.

I thought I'd update my situation with some happy news. I've used the second G100 I got back in december 16th extensively since then and it is still working flawlessly. So apparently the first one was just a faulty individual, hopefully.

The mouse really is the dream mouse for all mx300 shape lovers. High dpi if you're into that and keeps up with the craziest moves. Also the top button (dpi switch by default) seems to be a lot more resilient. I use it a lot in games for weapon selection and it shows no signs of wear and tear unlike the mx300 button. The wheel also doesn't seem to do the mx300 style squeaking and rattling.

All in all 10/10 for us small mouse lovers.

Note: I have only used it on a black cloth pad (Ulti-Mat Breathe x4) so I cannot vouch for it on other surfaces.

Yes, and I can honestly say G100 is better. The shape is 99%identical, and in the spots you hold it IS identical.

The feet are also better.

Don't get me wrong. I know it works for u with low DPI style. Thats fine. I didn't even want to even talk abut the G100 anymore. But if u write its a good mouse for high DPI, even more people will waste money on this "mouse". The mouse doesn't even have an upgradable firmeware, nor is it supported by LGS. (Logitech tried to improve the bad DPI scalling or how u want to call it with the G300, which uses the same sensor, but it didn't work out. They don't even bother with the G100 since its only supported by setpoint.

Its like the mouse starts to jitter, when it tries to curve. example: When i do a vertical line in paint and it starts to curve, it draws more pixel to the left or right than it does with an other no-prediction mouse (eg. Abyssus or G9x). Its not very obvious, if at all, with lower DPI due to less pyhsical movement.

Well if 400 DPI is enough, give it a try. Its just sad to see how they finally do a relaunch of this epic shape and can't even use a proper sensor. The G3 is 200% better than this and people say its sensor suck. Im using a G3 myself and im fine with it. It has 50 DPI steps (most sensors have only 100 or 200 DPI steps) + It has more pollingrate presets than most other mice (125,200,250,333,500,1000). Theres only one mousepad where i can make it skip, when doing 180's (Razer eXactMat control side). Prediction is very low aswell. I mean this mouse is from 2006. How hard can it be?

Hm, if you say G3 is 200% better than G100 then I guess there's no need to ask you how would you compare G100 vs G1. :)

Korean G1 and G100 are my prime candidates for dying MX300 replacement, but I just CBA to wait G100 few weeks and then get piece of crap. :/ I should just probably go with known quality aka G1, no risk with than. That is, unless they managed to fuck it up when they upgraded sensor to 1000 DPI.

Anyone tried 'new' Korean G1?

Abit sad about the prediction but the shape works well above that.
And that you need to go through the hassle with patching hidusb on w7 64, which is annoying.

No jitter @ 1000dpi.

Im at 12cm/360 and prefer a fairly low DPI for todays standards. 800-1000 DPI are perfect imo. Coming from an old G9 (started with mx300 and G1 aswell) i have a somewhat high standard in terms of sensorfeeling. I have to admit, my sensitivity is probably to high to really care about lift off, or malfunction speeds. I have 2 new G1's awell (800&1000DPI) but i prefer the G3 over them bcs it has much lower prediction and stable 500/1000hz (G1 has only 415hz). I only use one DPI setting for everything. Obviously im not 100% satisfied with the G3 and "200%" was just to show how i dislike the G100. I think the G100 is to expensive for 400DPI mouse. Then again i understand that a G1 isn't really a replacement for a mx300 (500,1000 vs 415hz). Guess if u really want a low DPI mouse coming from a mx300/500hz, the G100 might be ok. I know with hidusb 250hz works aswell. (1000 has no effect)

Well, I had to try G100 for myself, I was somehow hoping you are slightly exaggerating this whole jitter issue. You weren't.

Can you take photo of G100 next to MX300? Some sites list its length as 13 cm. MX300/G1 are 11.5 cm, that 1.5 extra cm would make G100 alot bulkier than MX300/G1.

I thought I'd update my experience with this mouse again. I bought my first G100 in October last year if I remember correctly, and as I've posted here earlier it started to break after 2 months. I got my second G100 in december that year and it started to break last night.

The first one had a problem with the sensor where it would randomly not work when moved, but for some reason only when moved to the left. Peculiar stuff. (Time after malfunctions started: 2 months)

The second one started to throw double clicks on the left button. Note that I don't use mouse1 as fire in games, it is my least used mouse button in gaming, but it's of course used normally in every day use. (Time after malfunctions started: 7 months)

Let's see if the 3rd one lasts even longer. :P

I've a G300 from almost 6 months and it looks very solid still.
Price wise, they should be on the same level.
Same sensor if I remember correctly.

G100 has a more "standard" shape that definitely makes it more popular.

I hate the shape. The < > angled sides dig into my finger when I grip it on the right. The top right/left mouse buttons are also too large and shouldn't angle and extend out.

its great that it works on 500hz by default, i couldnt get more than 125hz in win8 with the mx300

so far im very happy, couldnt think of a better mouse, well maybe the g100s, but for now this one is working flawlessly
