I am going to recommend Metro 2033 again. I liked the story and gameplay. The shooting felt always brutal, like a fight for survival. Its very linear, but exploring is still rewarded as you can find secret weapons and ammo.

The graphics are still topnotch , the sequel is coming later this year and you can get it for low money... so get it now!

Are these games worth trying?
GTA4 - Only played it on the console, but I heard you can mod the shit out of the pc version, so you should try it!

Crysis - Only played for 15 minutes and then stopped because it was so boring.

COD clones - The single player of the first Modern Warfare was a blast when it came out. Didnt enjoy the sp of MW2 because I thought the story of Russia invading the U.S. was so stupid. Was too over-the-top for my liking.
If you want to check one of the COD games, I would suggest Cod:Blops, because I think the way in which you can level up is the best in the series. Cant say anything for sp, but I think things blow up spectacularly.

BF3 - From what I have seen of the sp, it seemed boring. Get it for mp and graphics if you like.

MoH - Waste of time.

If you like military simulator stuff, I'd recommend to you the following games:

ArmA 2 (plus it's expansions): Military infantry simulator, with emphasis 60% on infantry stuff, and the last percentage on vehicles, as they are sim'y to steer, but don't at all require any overly time consuming operations to light them up etc.
Overall an awesome game/sim if you like huge scale multiplayer battles (either player versus player, which admittedly is dull, compared to cooperative play. Find 20 friends and fire up a communiy-made mission for a minimum of 21 players and you'll find yourself having more fun than you could possibly imagine.)
Youtube some videos of it if it sounds interesting. Furthermore its a resource hog, so it is definately good that you're getting upgrades for that dinosaur you have. :P

Also, you can try it out for free at www.arma2.com/free - A very good taste-of-whats-to-come, however playing the free version means you get less detailed textures and graphics - though still very awesome looking, and you can't use any modifications that are made by the community, and might I add: This game has a fuckload of mods. An ACTUAL fuckload.


Lock On Flaming Cliffs 2: Combat flying simulator. Semi-realistic start-up mechanisms, best described as mid-fidelity simulation. Very, very awesome to fly if you dig that stuff too.

Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark 1 and 2 - (same game but 2nd edition got LOOOOADS of new and improved stuff in it). A gunship helicopter simulator; abbreviated DCS: Black Shark, it is of the high fidelity simulation category, made by the same company that made the previous flying sim. This sim is compatible with Lock On, so that you can join multiplayer games with players playing Lock On.

DCS: A-10C Warthog: A true to life combat simulator, giving you full control over an A-10C. You won't find anything more realistic than this, in regards to that plane. If you haven't already seen or heard the gun on this beast, go youtube it immediately. Best way I can describe the gun as to how it looks is that it is scary. How it sounds? Well.. How about "PPPRRRRRRRFFTTT" :D
If you learn all of what you are taught in this sim, you could theoretically go and steal a goddamn A-10C because you know full well the complete methods of starting up and operating the thing. Good stuff to know! This game however is not yet compatible with Lock On and Black Shark, but eventually they will make it possible.

I realize you probably won't consider these games at all since, really, I don't immediately peg you as the type who wants ultimate realism. In fact I only started this post with the above mentions because I wanted to express my own love for them. A little optimism from my part would be to presume you'll look into them a bit.

I also enjoy racing simulators such as iRacing (crap name for an awesome game), rFactor and rFactor 2 (currently buy-to-get-into-beta), Race '07 and all its expansions and the likes, but I firmly believe that is entirely out of the question.

Anyhow, to the real arcadey shooters:
BF3 - Go get it, it works very well, and with the huge patch they just started getting out, it really has some kickass matches coming out.
CoD clones are generally a no go for me so I can't tell you anything but my experience which is that they are incredibly bad.
GTA 4 - Go for it. Seriously.
As for the Medal of Honor games, get em all except the very last one, because that sucked major ass imo.

Also: Torchlight, Diablo 3 (!), Mass Effect 1 and 2 (3rd one has a lolwut ending that makes it not worth the while for the time being imo) and ofcourse also Skyrim.

Also get Borderlands so as to get prepared for Borderlands 2 that arrives in september. First one was awesome, and second is even more awesome by the looks of it.

Oh fuck it, it's late and I spent too long sitting here and writing all this. Good luck finding games to have a fingerlicking good time with! :-D

With that setup, I'd really wanna play metro 2033, gta 4, since those two games are the most demanding and make my i3-2100 / hd6850 suffer at times.

Skyrim with mods is pretty fun

GTA4 is basically GTA3/VC/SA with +1 graphics, which is awesome. Basically you can copy-paste everything said about the previous 3D GTAs. Imo it's a little long (that's what he said) but all the sandbox epicness is there. It's awesome series so I think it's a masterpiece.

Crysis- It grants you lots of freedom how you approach the combat, the fighting is fun, but the story is a letdown. How about Farcry2? Farcry 2 has captivating world to it, the mere feeling of sneaking in the grass while sun sets on africa is intense. I'd pick it over crysis.

Cod- only played mw2. It's very linear, going from checkpoint to checkpoint. Mildly entertaining and not too taxing, but in overall it's basically the counter-strike of consoles, which is concept played to death and supported by bandwagon effect of school kids wanting to play something together.

The whole mainstream cs:ish shooter genre today is imo like microwave dinner of foods. It's boring and lacks taste, but updated graphics is the salt that keeps fat people eating it from year to year.
