what's your take on that? from what you posted over the years you did not experience that at all.

Rare was an exceptional dev studio in the the 90's, so its exempt from such a run of the mill article. In fact, there are still people working there now that were there in th early to mid 90's.
Most of the people running rare today started in testing. I shit you not.

I was earning more in testing than most programmers were, simply becuase we tested EVERY game and got royalties for that, whereas some of the coders spent up to 4-6 years on a single game and got little more than a basic salary and royalties related to that game only.

Its not like that anymore, the prices of games stay the same, the team sizes go up, the expectations go through the roof and dev times are increasing and piracy is increasing and all this while control is taken away from the devs and put into the publishers.

The 90's were the best time to be working in games and to be a gamer.

did you really write that you got royalties by being a beta tester? Your lies are getting to a whole different level.
