Quakenet spamvertising (22 comments)

Well, I guess a friend was using my laptop and he started spamming links to something. Now I cannot connect to Quakenet in MIRC or QuakeNet Webchat IRC.... And I really need to connect to play some pickups or just join other channels such as defrag. I'm guessing this might be an IP ban but as soon as I try connecting to QuakeNet then it just disconnects and says 'spamvertising isn't welcome in Quakenet'. I haven't tried other servers as Quakenet is the only one I use.

Can anyone help me please? -___-

what error msg do you get when trying to connect?

maybe your stuck in a dead server try connecting with /server irc.quakenet.org

Youve been had by an automatic spamban from the S bot.

"#help will not provide you with any info regarding the g-line such as duration, nor will it be removed upon request."
"All G-lines will last for however long they have been set, and you have to just wait for it to expire."

So you have two options, wait it out or try http://antifirewall.en.softonic.com/
I used that a while 8 years ago or so, its not that complicated to use.

Just in your irc client, you should be able to set it up.
This is just a proposition. The only time I was IP banned was when I moved into a new flat and after few months I discovered that someone living there before me got banned from 4chan :)

I don't know. I've never done it before and I've heard that it's harder to do with IRC because they ban public proxy servers. You need to do the research yourself.

Also I don't quite believe your story ;)
