i guess you meant, that yourself "moves a lot less fluid" in the view of the opponent, when YOU set maxpackets 63?

If your com_maxfps is 125, maxpackets 120 are really 63.

just set it to 125 and leave it like that..

with packets 63 the other players sees u bumpy, and because of that a lot harder to hit
knowin that to get an advantage u should use always packets 63 online, even more if ur opponent is using it putting u in a considerable disadvantage

He means that if you set maxpackets to "63", you warp, and therefore the enemy has a harder time hitting you.

I dont't think any serious player go with "63" instead of "120", as you get technical disadvantages by using "63".

this. i also highly doubt people start warping with 63 vs. 125, that was possible in q3 with mp 20 to 30, but there's a reason id removed the option to go this low. afaik maxpackets is client upstream bandwith btw.

just tried the other day with a friend in a server
packets 120 dont warp
packets 63 a lot of warp
moving walking straight
maybe it doesnt happends in all the servers
maybe that day those servers where working wrong
dunno because now they are down so i cant try it again
but i will explore this some more when servers get back

Not that I want to confirm exactly what he's saying is true, but maybe add another voice to the matter.

The other day I was playing CA and noticed a player warping. Asked him about his netconfig; first I asked what his rate was, which he said was 25000. Then I asked what his maxpackets was set to and it was 63. Had him change it to 125 of voila, no more warping.

I don't want to encourage unfair play, however. You should be able to win in Zotac cups based on your skill, not on your settings.

Most people use 125 because it simply makes the game a lot more accurate and smoother for all players (if they have 125fps too that is). It's not just how much they can hit you, but also how much you can hit them since it's the setting controlling how many times per second you send your position to the server. If you set it very low you will be hard to hit but you will also find it hard to hit others with rail/lg in particular.

People with a not so good net can look warpy with 63 packets while others with a good net will look smooth. At 125 packets the majority of people should look smooth.
People with a shit pc and good net will also look unsmooth/warpy because the framerate and packets are linked together (that's easy to verify with process explorer or whatever) so if their fps fluctuate, so will the number of updates per second they send to the server.
