G400 is quite similar too (if you used to palm the IE 3.0, less if you were able to claw it)

Why not stick with the IME 3.0? One of the best mice ever.

Replacing the microswitches with japanese Omron's would be even much more cheaper, than a new 3.0.

but they are going to run out sooner or later. maybe he is just facing the inevitable and trying to get accustomed to a new mouse earlier. i wouldn't tho. thinking about buying 2-3 ime's while i have a chance ;)

Trysing to spray WD40 on the switches would be cheap too.

I've fixed my IE3 double clicking, but shortly after switched to DA for the no-hassle polling rate increase in the razor drivers. Anyway, it's quite easy. Take apart the mouse, pry/lift the switch black boxes, and you will see the metal plate that goes up and down when pressed by the white plastic between two contacts. Take the time to understand how it's being held in place, take a picture, it will save you the frustration of figuring it out later. Now, whats happening is that it goes down too easily, so what you want to do is either take it off and flatten it, or bend it up in-place. If it falls off, and you're having trouble putting it on, that's the most annoying part, just keep trying, and short of breaking it, you'll be able to put it back on and it will work like new.

EC1 is closer to the IME3.0 in term of shape and weight than the DeathAdder, but not as great sensor wise.

Its better now, the EC1 EVO has the same sensor as the Zowie AM. (Don't know why I'm advertising for them lol ;)).

Doubt it good as Deathadder/G400.

sensei imo. the ec1/2 are great once u get over the prediction but both of mine broke after a couple of months (m1 on both occasions). The sensei is pretty flawless in my experience so far, weight, shape and sensor all feel really good. The only negative I have to say about it is that it jitters like once a week on my cloth pad but really it doesnt matter, shake it once and its fine again.

EC1 Evo. Great sensor and shape/weight matches IME 3.0 much better than DA. DA weighs a ton.

I've played with DA for a year and never got used to the sensor. The grip / feel of the mouse is very nice but the sensor is just not accurate enough with flick shots for me when being used to the optical sensor in 3.0, which is the best one I've tried. Never tried the zowie EC series though..

You can still order the 3.0 from a re-seller from Hong Kong (link here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130590265431 ) with free shipping, and I ordered 3 of them. It took 3 weeks to get them(to NL / Europe), but they arrived nicely and you can trust this if you are willing to wait a few weeks. Also a nice price if you ask me! :)

Ehm... what?? DA doesn't have laser sensor, it optical, and it's one of the best (if not the best) sensors out there, with much higher DPI (not that DPI matters, but still) and perfect control speed than IME 3.0.

I guess you were having problems with DA's weight (IME 3.0 is much lighter) or you just got a faulty one.

I could track and aim very well overall with the DA. Just not flick at same accuracies even after 1 year. So when I was not forced to use that mouse anymore(not obliged by sponsors), I then switched back to 3.0 and all back to normal again :)

I own the first version of the Deathadder and I have experienced the exact same thing. The perfect control speed of the mouse was MUCH lower than the IME 3.0. Some claim this has been fixed - the mouse test 2007. And then the DA also has side buttons that are positioned very badly - not so for the 3.0.

Interesting. I did not know this as you are correct, I did use a DA most likely produced in the beginning.

When my current stock of 3.0's run out, I will then check what mouse to get :)

Have you tried updating firmware on your DA? Supposedly those flaws were corrected in newer firmware.

1.40 Firmware definitely needed for DA v1. However, I still would choose 3.0.

The DA v1 was the first DeathAdder with the Avago ADNS-S3668 (aka 3G infra). Though the sensor was nearly flawless, the firmware had its own issues and that's what 1.40 release solved - well, most of them.

Later came the DA v2, which has the Avago ADNS-S3888 inside (aka 3.5G infra).


Besides the sensor, there're only slight differencies:

DA v1 (3G): max. 1800 cpi, lower LOD (with update), no prediction by default - firmware-update makes it changeable.
DA v2 (3.5G): max. 3500 cpi, +2g weight, no prediction, older firmware can cause slight jitter on cloth mats, slightly better cord.

A DA v1@ 1.40 IMHO better choice than a DA v2.

DA v1 wasn't released commercially. the 3G deathadder was the DA v2. The 3.5G deathadder was DA v3. From what I remember..

no, DA 3G rev.1, 2 and 3 all with 1800DPI(more or less, because that differs too between the revisions, like rev.3 is slower than rev.2).

I tried to go for something else entirely, bought a steelseries xai and used it for a few months. But could never really get used to the grip. Sensor felt very good though.
But now im back on ms3.0

now is the perfect time to stock up on wmo's and ime's ;) i just did lol
