Zowie AM

If you are a clawgripper you should definitely give the Abyssus and the Zowie AM a try. The g400 works surprisingly well too (at least if you got big hands) and is a great mouse overall. Best thing you can do is to visit your local megastore and try them all.

Sensei is expensive crap.

Get Zowie AM or Steelseries Kana if shape similar to WMO is deciding factor.

I have steelseries Kana and WMO.WMO is much better, i dont know if its caused by FPS, WMO has 9000 and Kana 3600 or something, but WMO is with 400DPI faster and more accurate.I am gonna try Zowie AM now.

Kana shape just isn't anywhere close to the WMO awesomeness. Front lip is too low, ruins my fingertip grip as I like my fingertips a bit higher off the mousemat. And the sides are pretty low too.

Maybe he is just expressing his bad experience of the shape, and passing it off as the sensor?

the front is the sensei is lower than on the wmo, and the dpi functions are kinda wacky. the scrollwheel is much better and the mouse itself feels solid. just my thoughts on my sensei

Zowie AM has a low LOD, it's different compared to the WMO. Other than that it's pretty similar.

Zowie AM also has kinda odd shaped sides. Instead of \_/ they are /_\. It could cause problems with mouse lifting, I know it would bother me.

I'm leaning towards the sensei atm.

sensei is a LOT heavier than the WMO, the Sensei RAW will be lighter though.

The sensei has a shape the same as the Xai. I have both the Xai and the wmo and the xai feels substantially larger to me (and heavier of course). So much so that it is not a comfortable mouse to use.

That's the reason I threw mine away after 20 minutes..

How are they dieing on you is a valid question I think. I've used a WMO for years in the past and it's still rock solid. Are you hard on it like slamming on your desk or mashing the buttons too hard or is you cable in some awkward position where it's pulling too much? The build quality on the newer versions is even higher than the older ones I believe. But I think the Kana might be most similar shape wise and the AM (non-GS) is very hard to lift because of the rubber coating. Whatever coating they use makes it super slick.

sooner or later, they are just at the end of their lifes after long usage.

But then you can replace them with japanese Omron's for about 2-3 $ or so.

I owned both WMO and Abyssus and they're pretty similar.

NOT identical, but VERY similar, it took me very little time to adapt (and in the end, Abyssus is even a little better ;)

I moved from the WMO to the Abyssus and never looked back. Takes a couple of hours to get used to and then its just great!

But my hopes are that a mouse just as good (size/weight/tracking/grip etc) can eventually have side buttons, so keep your eye on:

Also beware of the Zowie AM, it is a great mouse, but the super low LOD results in poor tracking on some surfaces. And since it wouldn't track on my favorite pad I had to bench it. I have numerous pads and it only tracked properly on 1 out of 6 pads.

Too bad I use QCK heavy so the Abyssus sucks on it. i don't get how a 10 year old mouse has no problems on any mousepad but these new mouses have so many problems.

Can't the low LOD be improved to higher LOD? Isn't there some l337 fix?

I'm no expert but from the user end I think it can only be done the otherway round e.g. the tape fix to lower LOD - but can't see how you could raise it with user end manual tweaks.

avago lens - modified avago lens to fit in - custom Kingsis lens which is default for AM/EC
depending on how much you cut the light prism part of the lens that increases LOD to any desired value.
Also the lens swap lowers DPI, for example from 450 value to around 360-400 since kingsis lens got x1.25 magnifying factor which btw lowers perfect control speed up to x1.25 times aswell. So lens swap could help the ultralowsens players who can make non-modified AM skip.

yes, standart zowie AM lens aka custom kingsis lens has a x1.25 lower maximum tracking speed than standart avago lens

mx518 and g400 don't have standart avago lens either, but they aren't magnified unlike the one in AM. But logitech/zowie mice are somewhat exceptions, you can find the avago lens in all other mice using adns 3060/3070/3080(e)/3088/3090/3668/3688/3888/etc
I'm not saying that g400/mx518 lens wouldn't fit though, I only tried avago lens.

Alright, I have a CM Spawn mouse that should have that Avago lens(?), so I might try that that.

Shape is identical, but due to smaller size it fits into hand quite differently.

And of course, Pro version is slippery as fuck.

I have yet to find a mouse I like better than a WMO for quake. I have tried a Kana, mx510, mx518, and still think the WMO is better. I may try a g400 or maybe a DA in the future. But WMO with Puretrak HD glides are awesome!

I got the Kinzu v2 pro black. And you know what? I love it.
Love the shape and it's accurate.
Took a couple of days to get used to it, but now I cant think of a better mouse really.

Just didnt feel right. Maybe a combination of shape and grip. Can't explain it.

Does it malfunction past 1.6 m/s? Like does it just have neg accel like the wmo, or does it go all crazy? What I'm getting at is, has the crazy freakout thing it had been fixed? Firmware?

I upgraded the firmware before I started using it, and I never experienced any of the things you mentioned.

I use 400dpi and a sensitivity setting of 4 in quake live. Cant say I noticed any negative accel during gameplay.

Might be fixed afaik.
