Before fatal1ty and D9'Tesh, there was The Wizard. The messed up thing is, the bad kid in this movie actually looks like fatal. Oh, and the powerglove sucked.
I had this idea of making a Snape picture that captions, "10 Points From Gryffindor," as a response. That's when I realized it was a colossal undertaking, especially considering my nationality. I wrote this instead.
I have to say they've dumbed down the game for the masses like they did with Star Craft 2, I mean it's a perfectly legitimate business decision and well thought out but I miss the grittiness and darker style of the older blizzard games. Plus why no choose your stats when you level up!
You really cared about choosing stats when leveling in d2? It was such a limited decision that there was no point keeping it, you only ever needed enough strength to equip your gear, 0 dexterity or X amount for gear/max block, 0 energy unless ES sorc and then everything else in vitality. There was no room for experimentation, you either did it right or wrong.
Well... no. It was not limitied decision: max block or no block means very different gamestyle (especially PvP), ES vs no-ES is also big difference, etc.
I'm not saying D3 will necessarily be bad game because it lacks stat point distribution, but it was a big deal in D2.
But now you got to level solely with your items instead. Which while it makes for some interesting meta around if you want to go with DMG or Health ends up making the white stuff completely irrelevant to the point where there's no reason to even keep them in the game.
In what way would you say they dumbed down SC2? Most of the changes seem to be related to pathing and UI; you just can't release a game in 2010 that artificially limits things like how many units you can have in a control group. When people say its 'dumbed down' I wonder if they actually mean its 'different from Broodwar'.
Witch Doctor. His soul harvest ability is basically double damage which you can constantly have up unless they nerf it since he has already been nerfed several times in the closed beta.
Tried diablo 2 a few months ago, I still am confused how I could waste more than 2 hours on it. Slaying monsters in caverns for hours. Made my head in :D
It's not like you aren't slaying green robots on arenas for few hours without any purpose... oh wait it's fun. So is Diablo :) especially with friends.
same here, when d2 came out i played through the first act with a friend, it was the most boring gaming experience i've ever had in my life. even cs was better when i tried it a couple of times, and this means a lot.
that said, i think it's like those basketball cards or football stickers or whatever when we were kids. it's all about collecting items, it gives you some kind of "accomplishment" when some boss finally drops the Demon Sword of Darkness And Despair Over How Boring This Game Is +10 To Need To Finally Take A Shit After 10 Days +1000 To WTF Is This and you're all like "AWW SHINY SWORDZZZZ YES I TAEK!"
When I will immerse myself into this game I will probably take the wizard, but the demon hunter or witch doctor might also be an option ... I had Barbarian in Diablo 1 and also a warrior in Ultima Online, also in torchlight I had some warrior, but in World of Warcraft I had an undead witch, which I liked most to play, in diablo 2 I tried the mage, but somehow I failed heavily against the boss in the 7 portals world ...
the magician class is pretty funny, and I played the warrior a bit too much lately, I hope this time playing the magician will be a more playerfriendly experience than in diablo 2, more like in WoW =)
yeah, exactly duriel was too strong ...
what do you mean by almost everything does? almost anything makes you beat him or almost everyone fails against him? :-)
that thing was in 2-3 seconds close to me and hit me 2-3 times and I was dead ... also my companion was killed with his high level ...
and I couldn't resurrect him and only buy a new companion that starts from some low level ... I then tried some times again to fight that boss, but always the same, in 2-3 seconds he was close and killed me ... at some point I just gave up :-(
Low lvl casters (and amazons) have issues with Duriel on first play through game (=normal difficulty) but that was also more more pronounced in the past when game lagged for few seconds while Duriel and his lair were loading. When game finally loaded most chars with low hit points found themselves already dead.
thanks for the info ...
probably I could go back or something and level my character up or something by mindless monster farming ... and finally beat him ...
but I don't have any savegames anymore ... so I would have to restart from the beginning ... and I just don't deem it worth it to do this mindless monster farming ... imho something fundamentally went wrong in the game design, when something like this happens with a certain player class ...
I don't understand the point of this game. You can't compete against other people. Its like playing WoW PvE or torchlight online? That gets boring after 20 minutes.
Obviously. Doesn't change that diablo 3 has no story and the gameplay is boring. So there's no appeal for me. But by all means, enjoy putting in the pot towards giving Blizzard millions of dollars for providing trivial entertainment.
There will be PvP arenas, so people will compete against each other in teams/duels.
Fun part about Diablo is mainly items/randomness/exploring map/having different builds + slaying monsters with friends, it's just fun. The gameplay might be boring for some, but I've played D1 and D2 for months and I totally buy that h&s shit.
when I am look after a story ... I read a book ...
I don't watch films or play games because of their so-called "story" ...
try to read a book from dostojewski, beats any story from films/games by great margin ...
Personally, I play games for gameplay. But if its SP, I play for the story a bit as well. Unfortunately, diablo 3 has neither. And your reading abilities are poor.
Even with low expectations, the story is worse than I thought it would be. Everything else in the game is well designed, but the story is just infantile.
I started playing last night.... there is like no customization in your character except your items. What? So far seems a bit flat but will play some more.
Make sure you turn on Elective Mode in the options menu, it gives you way more freedom with respect to character builds. There are many options once you unlock all 6 skill slots.
