In the nVidia settings ive got renderahead on 0 aswell for bf3.exe.

Gfx wise there are a few of them u want to have on low or disabled as they munch too much fps.

Now i dunno how much u care about how good the game looks (i dont really) but here are my settings:

Afaik, the post antialiasing is heavy on the framerate aswell as ambient occlusion, so leaving those OFF should help alot.

Why the renderahead 0? That only hurts performance, I think setting it to 0 is the same as "let the application decide" in the current nvidia drivers though.

I havent noticed any performance impacts by setting it to 0 instead of the default whatever it is (probably 3)

I just want minimal delay, and it only seems logical to put renderahead on zero.

put 1, it's the best setting

well since ur the 2nd guy advising to put it on 1 ill give it another try.

If you don't notice any performance difference then it's most likely not doing anything because the driver overrides it or something.

As h8m3 said, use 1 if you really want to reduce the input lag a bit (but it will slightly decrease the performance, though if you got a good rig it might be completely negligible).

I do care about graphics to some degree. But I prefer medium with everything set to off with higher framerate than having Ultra with about 30-40fps less.

My BF3 settings are like yours except everything on Medium and AF on 8x.
Will try your settings. Maybe I should try lowering FOV from 90 some too..

Do you have vsync forced to off and no fps limit?

tho there is a way to limit fps but so far i dont see a point in it for me personally. i get 45-120 fps so limiting it to lets say 80 will make the game less smooth anyway if i can get more than 80 :)

I didnt mean to limit fps to 80 or something, I meant 120.

I got the game running pretty good without the user.cfg.

I had trouble finding the perfect smoothness/respons. But I turned vsync off and limited the fps to 120fps while turning lots of things off/low to get 120fps as much of the time as possible, and now it feels good.

The problem before was that I wasnt hitting 120 as stable as I wanted too. Still not 120fps all the time so maybe I should use that user.cfg after all. But im happy that it can feel completely smooth much of the time now. :)

See this is why I prefer the xbox for cross platform games-

You don't have to spend hours looking through forums and on google trying to find the solution for smooth fps or whatever else it is

Everything on low/off in game and that's it for me.

Smooth, and still probably the prettiest multiplayer game out there with those settings.

make sure to set mesh quality to high or ultra. it affects draw distance, so if you set it to low you won't see far away targets, which is very bad e.g. when you're flying in helis or jets

It doesn't affect how far you see targets but how far you see the trees and shit.
