So either Sombra has always been a cheat (which I doubt because he would not be affiliated with people like akillies) or he just lost his way and cheated.

Top 3 finishers in the last tourney were all considered quake pros.
And arguably the best Quake 3 player in Europe finished 1st.

Seems a pretty big coincidence to me that a tourney with 80+ players in finished with Cypher winning it.

I played tons of pros in quake champs, not once did I think I was getting beaten due to abilities.

sombra was part of d&m the strongest spanish tdm team ever, he used to be akiles' main practice partner (that guy who won the wcg in 2002) and iirc even went to wcg (or a cpl?) for duel not to mention a bunch of high profile tdm lans. that it turns out that he has been cheating for a while now is hard to explain, really :C

It's impossible to cheat in Quake Live.
In 8 years of playing quake live i may have seen 1 or 1.5 cheaters, and they were only poor noobs with 110% shaft accuracy;
an hardcore player would never cheat, expecially if his skill are starting to decline or are not at an "enough" level, expecially if he is in a clan and his teammates cheats and provided advanced cheats (that doesn't exist) to him, expecially if he has a pro account, expecially in a game in which you cannot use several different kinds of cheats, like wallhacks, or radars, or sneaky light aimbot, or items timers, all cheats that probably doesn't even exist, and even if they would, they would be almost useless;
expecially if he has no reasons to cheat, and , i almost forgot, expecially if he has a premium/pro account.

ive seen it first-hand. was playing against hacker as sync joined game and kicked him, and finised the game. i asked him "how about his teammate?", because ive met him before and been cheated, sync answered "not atm". so there seems to some kind of system, seeing as he spent 5 sec in spectator before kicking, and guy wasnt very obvious with cheating.

I've been playing clanbase, esl and other international cups since the 2006 and every single cup someone tried to f*ck me with ping rules, admin friendship or insulted us calling africans and so other cool histories.
you can call it paranoid but, dude, trust me when I told you that it's not in our minds and i'll trust you for sure when you stated that not everyone think the same about spanish people. i've found hundred of lames and whinies but also good friends and people in where I can have some confidence.

P.S- without acrimony, In how many international cups you've participated? Just quriosity as I've never seen you before in the Q3 scene and just a bunch of times in Quakelive but you seem to know us better than us :)

I played enough QL to say that most of the people of the CTF community (Euro) are very nice and friendly.
But its true that some teams tried to trick us playing official games, to the point that in an official match between an english and a spanish team, they wanted to play on a icelandic server insulting us, just because we wanted fair pings... They even called a cup admin retard during the server search.
In QL is ok to play with high ping, but that happened in Q3 aswell, and it was very difficult to hit anything with above 80ms in OSP.

Syncerror and the QLST are ruining QL with all these bans without proofs IMO, many of them payed PRO accounts, and that's the best way to support this game wich is almost dead. Sooner or later we'll only see pub servers, and that's not profitable.

Well, i can understand him.... he wouldn't have cheated againg, but he heard that in Ql is enough to have a clan and a premium/pro subscription to be immune from ban, so i can't really blame him, he has been one of the few scapegoats that has to be clamorously banned just to say "there aren't cheaters in ql, but if there are, we ban them!!!!!1!11eleven!!!!"

Well... I don't understand why Syncerror didn't just say "we banned him because we don't want recognized cheaters by the community playing QL", just like Sombra's clanmates claim was the official reason stated in the email that Sombra recieved after the ban. Instead, syncerror is publically stating "we have proof he cheated in QL".

So, either Syncerror actually has valid proof Sombra cheated in QL and some of Sombra's teammates are in fact lying about the official reason stated in the email, or Syncerror is publically lying about having proof that he cheated in QL, and Sombra was really banned from QL for being a recognized cheater by the community and is consequently, as you say, a scapegoat.

It will remain a mystery for now until either party brings forth conclusive evidence to back up their claims (and Sombra should be technically considered innocent in QL until proven guitly), but one thing is for certain, Sombra cheated in Q3 and consequently is FAR FROM INNOCENT, technicalities aside, and I'm not going to let the fact that QL has different terms of service let him return to QL as if nothing ever happened, especially considering the shameless attitude he has shown regarding the whole matter.

It wouldn't be so bad if he had actually admitted to having cheated in the first place four years ago... but the fact that he has consistently denied it time and time again... how is ANYONE supposed to believe him when he says he didn't cheat in QL?

Why doesn't he make a public apology? He has proven himself enough on LAN to warrant the respect of the community, in much the same way many people wanted ZeroQL to be allowed to return to QL, although his acheivements were more to do with his movie-making prowess than his LAN achievements. Of course, it's actually TOO LATE for him to make a public apology, as he would continue to be the centre of ridicule, and he himself is the only one to blame for that.

In any case, people playing in CB's QL cups have the right to know they are playing against a Q3 cheater who never actually admitted or apologized to cheating in the first place, despite undeniable proof that he did.

The only mystery is why some spanish players are once again trying to defend him?

sombra won one eswc qualifier and went to atleast one cpl and played lots and lots of div1 tdm (eurocup/nationscup/whatever you can think of). akiles lost the wcg 2002 final against unkind, sl1p has done... what exactly? :p

yeah, that was the horrible part about sombra's case. as a tdm player, you felt kind of actually cheated. spain used to have one top tdm team (D&M) centered around their best duel players (akiles + sombra), which entered every main tdm competition - most of them online, of course.

not to mention the online duel tournaments + qualifiers for lan events, but i'm not into duel so it never bothered me as much ;)

sombra was akiles main practice partner and akiles was considered the best spanish duel player for literally an eternity.
