Fly to DFW

Do a google maps around that hotel for other ones. I stayed at the Hyatt nearby, it was something like $90 a night and rooms were actually twice the size as the Hilton ones, and better.

Dallas Love Field is a tiny airport, mostly just used by Southwest. Especially internationally, I would recommend going into Dallas Ft. Worth.

Hilton is top of the line in the brand. Hunt around for Hampton Inns if you like the Hilton chain but don't want to spend lots of $.

Many people could agree that it was awesome to see you at DH and hear your well balanced opinions on various subjects. Maybe you could actually make some 'behind the doors' conversations with devs and achieve some progress for this game. Not like it should be your goal but imho you is the one of few people who can reason them with perfect logic and sense.

doubt he will have time for that, he is going for the title.

The possibility of meeting with the devs is definitely one of the interesting points for me to travel there.

Don't get your hopes up, most likely scenario is they will be eager to get to their coke & hookers so unless you can provide them with such facilities yourself, prepare to be brushed aside.

dfw is a hub for a lot of airlines. so if u look at flight websites the cheaper ones (and the majority really) will fly you into dfw.

anyway this is going to be my first qcon as well, wondering how far the hotel is from the airport and travelling to and fro. pretty sure i can find the info online but never hurts to ask here i guess.

ps: might be looking for someone to share a room with too.

It's not too bad, there's tons of shuttles going from the airports to downtown and to major hotels. They run like every five minutes so you can always catch one, they are usually vans that fit about seven other people in them.

definitely use DFW, there are lots of cheap motels/hotels around the area (lower rates than quakecon hotel). Supershuttle goes to and from the airport and almost every motel/hotel in the area. (http://www.supershuttle.com/).

I think the issue is prize money. They want to include the information in the announcement, but money is not fixed until late.

only 8-10 people are going to be showing up for "prize money"... why not take care of the majority of the attendees?

I would go to Dallas Ft Worth (international). Taxi from there to the Hilton is acceptable.
If recall correctly there were a few hotels just outside the Hilton where the room prize /night was a lot lower. I have no personal experience of those, but they were walking distance from the event when I was there.

I remember(see google maps) there're a hotels/motels right next door 2-3 min walking distance and it's not as luxurious as Anatole. Half of quakecon stayed there . I imagine as a single guy willing to cross borders all you need is bed/shower, which is covered there i'm sure.

See if there's a shuttle to this area, or even jump on Hilton one from the airport if there's one. Taxis in US charge by miles and cities are very spread out.

There are several hotels around the Hilton. I stayed at a hotel just a short distance from the Hilton and the room was quite nice...fortunately I have noidea how much the room cost (thanks CSN).

If you are going with a lot of people, there is no reason to not get a room at the Hilton though imo. If you all chip in you can get a decent room for a little bit of cash.

I would love to go this year but doubt I'll be able too...
