yup, wmo is known desktop mouse used for gaming, the sidewinder is MS official gaming hardware, it has the same kind of feel and better speed

the xwarcraft, feels the same, but with better thumb and palm support

Just LOL again. MS X-series suck great time. WMO over any of them, anytime.

STMicroelectronics OS MLT 04 is a very good sensor, especially with 500 Hz USB-rate (because with this, the perfect control is 1,5x of the original, due to the 8 bit data path), even nowadays. And prolly the best in any MS mice.

Again can someone explain me why 500hz is better than 250 for wmo? Is it because of this 2 ms latency? My ping is jumping by 4 all the time anyway.

250 is enough to get the cm/s to the max it's able to handle but yeah, it's to cut another 2ms of delay.

Prolly placebo though ( 1000hz sure is )

My point was that 250hz is enough for perfect control.

the sensor is only as good as the suface its on, cheap normal mouse pads are better, the surface is rougher then £10 pads, and the sensor will pick up more movement for every 0.000001 mm

Those units look good. You should be fine with them.

It's kinda boring because in all of these threads it's been stated that 1. and 1.1a are the same thing and that even if some of them are not marked, the original 1.0 has not been produced since the early 00s.

Yesterday I spent/lost 15 minutes getting that hideous cable not to drag, but it's the best "quake" mouse by far so I had to. Also I thought of cleaning the sensor (more like that piece of plastic in front of it) but it's unreachable.

If they are the same "hardware wise", why does that distinction exsist?


And is it true that the latest model had 450dpi instead of the original 400dpi? How do you know this?

How much does one last for? Im scared that mine may broke soon, i've had it for years. It's amazing how its still working and the sliders are glued on there like cement. With my Logitech MX518 and MX500 the sliders died so fast (or glider pads whatever you call that)

Just buy a black one and use it on 500hz.

WMOs (sadly) die because of the cable getting cut, which takes about 10 years and is fixable. And its materials aren't the greatest either but are miles better than razer mice for example, so if you can buy one new one get at least 2 before they finally go out of production. If they still sold them here I'd buy 3 or more rofl (looking to mod one but I'm not risking mine).

Okay, mine is done (how adequate, just after bumping this thread a couple days ago). I was tempted to get the Abyssus, since it seems similar in shape and players have transitioned from wmo-> abyssus (cypher or cooller, and I think other players too) but im scared that:

1) The sensor will be shit
2) I will not like the grip

For now I remembered I had a IME 3.0 lying around so im using it as a replacement. It doesn't seem like a mouse designed for finger grip but more like palm grip, but anyway, at least is the same sensor as the WMO. I will use this for now.

BTW, is there any difference in the sensor from the new edition? I have the "9000 fps" edition (Mine is grey-ish for some reason and not black but the box is the same)

The abyssus is pretty good....while it works, and you'll come back to the wmo anyway.

The new 3.0 is one of those mice that feels sexy and works flawlessly, but it is not my taste for quake (it'd be perfect for cs though) and the side buttons are absurdly cheap.

But what about the Abyssus? I've heard that 400dpi is not enough for resolutions higher than 1024, and I play at 1280x960 since I got my 2233rz. I am missing a lot of smoothness/accuarcy by playing at 400dpi with a WMO? Would more DPI make that much of a difference? Should I just stay with the WMO?

You are seriously overreacting, it's really simple - either you get a REALLY bad wmo or a working one, you should stop being paranoid.
