it is indeed soldered, but i replaced it with the cable from a DA anyways.
cut the whole connector off with some pliers, cut of the plug from the replacement cable and so on and solder it in.

hmm I thought so. I'm not really up for soldering etc to get it to work tbh. After I couldn't get the cable out, I wanted to just replace the entire insides from a WMO/IE3.0 but they are different and that would be even more work. I also considered cutting off the part of the cable that was faulty and rejoining the cable but it's exactly at the part where the cable comes out so putting it back together would be a bitch because it'll get thicker after taping it.

I have this IO1.1 and a broken IE3.0 and was really hoping I could make use of the 3.0 especially since it's got a nicer cable compared to the 1.1/WMO. I haven't opened the 3.0 so do you know if it's cable is soldered the same way?

-take some sharp pliers and cut off the whole white connector with the old cable, but remember which wire goes where.
-then get the holes free with a desoldering pump.
-take the new cable and cut of the plug, get the wires free and get rid of the isolation by cutting a bit in, and pulling it off while you bite on it.
-put the wires in the holes and solder them back in
