You might reconsider that. I don't know Jo0f. So its hard for me to judge how fast he improved. But you cannot have 1900 elo without hours and hours of practise. Especially if you don't have a quake-background.

Learning maps, timing, weapon skill, battle skill..Come on. Most of the players here played q2/q3 so they know the basics. But players popping out of nowhere and getting 1900 elo on tdm/duel and topping high tdm with just 5 or 6 months practise is just bullshit.

No it's not. First of all you don't need a quake2/3 background to be good at ql. There are a lot of players who started with ql and can compete on a fairly high lvl. Burned, twister, fire_bot, bukster, jewro and alphaomega come to mind.
Take my buddy as an example. He has not even 3k duels and played prolly 60-70 percent vs me (I'm not rly the best practice partner :D) and a noob friend of us and yet he was able to beat a lot of 1,9k-2k+ guys after 1 month of dedicated practice. He literally jumped from 1,5k elo to 1,8+ in that period. There were a lot accusing him of using cheats. There are two things which helped him severely. 120hz monitor (I'm not joking. His lg went from his worst to one of his best weapons. It's a fucking tractor beam now -,- ) and watching demos/streams practice his timing.

So seeing jo0f having 4k duels I think he could have done it easily without hacks. Keeping in mind that I never specced him so I don't know what he improved to jump to that elo.

I'm pretty sure fire_bot is a q3 player.

It does in certain cases, e.g. the player isn't talented or hasn't played much. If he's both he could be legit but he doesn't fit neither of those. Maybe if he has q3 background he might just might be legit but I don't think so. I know him from ET, very mediocre. Also cheaters share specific mentality which he has aswell. I just know when something isn't right and I've noticed it's something very rare people have/can do. When you see and play ten thousand legit players and then play dozen cheaters you just can spot them. And I can relate him to myself, how I was better and later on he was, although I had more time played and surely practiced 'better'. kthxbaineedtoeat :F

actually raping everyone with 65lg 90rg can get boring pretty quickly i assume except for that autist kkk. however gaining a slight advantage (that either +10%acces, wallhack or just item timer) and holding up against someone who would otherwise beat you with a high margin probably can get the game much exiting...

also who didnt seen a modern cheat program yet i advice to fire up youtube, dont really want to share the exact names but a bit of creativity youll get there, videos dating from 2011-12 are actually shocked me for the first time ive seen them, how detailed and sophisticated are these programs are (for example rocket-plasma aimbot that works etc).

another misconception id like to add is that cheaters play with cheats 100% of the time, while in the reality probably most only cheats in _some_ games, not in all they play.

This is weird, he played Enemy Territory for years and also CPM/QL for loooooong time, Don't rly think he's cheating. Though there were some accusations when he played ET, but he perfomed the same at LAN and never got busted.

You can get banned for nothing at all.

If you have played on someone else's machine or a public machine you are at risk to be banned. Your account can be banned if ANYONE cheats on that machine in the future. To use the exact words of the id support team "Your account seems to have been caught in the crossfire."

at that time id didn't have the new anticheat. In case u didn't notice, he was failing in the last zotacs (where id started using their new anticheat) and then he stopped participating.

it is much safer now and there are less cheaters online. I give credit for that to id. About 6 months ago and around Christmas time, cheating in ql had reached its peak, now it is very low. Ppl either getting caught or afraid that they will and they don’t cheat.

what it didn't change is that cheaters are still in denial, which is kind of funny and I actually enjoy reading bs threads about denying cheating.

Is q3 background obligatory to become good at QL? I've seen jo0f playing a lot and also playing people who were allready good at quake... Maybe, just maybe he really did get to such a high-skill level without cheating. However it doesn't remove the fact that he did cheat at least once.

Would let him play in the Adroits LAN. Like this he could prove that he actually got his "skills" trough the normal way, if he doesn't deliver the same games on LAN, keep him banned. If he does, I wouldn't mind unbanning him. He even now wants to go, so he must be sure of his skills, even if he cheated.

Not naive, just not as negative and bitter as you. I don't really care weather he aquired his skills by really learning the game and playing a lot or by cheating.

Just saying that if he admits it and even offers to go to a LAN (spend money, show up in person) he should be given a chance to do so. Noone in his right mind would do such a thing if he really only can be good via cheating. Give him an account and let him play there. If he denies the offer he only was good because of cheats, if he plays utterly bad it's the same. But if he manages to play at a decent level there is nothing to say against him.

Ban for cheat's shouldn't expire after a set period of time as far as I'm concerned. Such a ban should only be lifted if the cheater admits it, shows regret and proves on LAN(s) that he can play without cheats aswell.
