tried to play 2v2 ca, most maps where forfiets due to impossible map

It reminds me of COD every time a match ends, and it disgusts me.

It (the development of ql lately) reminds me of mengele experimenting on people, meaning doesn't matter if the game will live or not, lets just stick some rusty pieces of iron into its skull and laugh at what will happen

you can vote what you want but the end game voting is also there

What I don't like about it is that it adds 20 seconds or so of forced waiting between each game, even on premium servers. Even more if the map one wants to play is not among the 3 that can be voted for. This shit is retarded. People don't like waiting, don't the people at id understand that?

it would be great for ca/ffa/ctf imo, i always hated the vote map-shuffle-someone leaves-shuffle again-someone votes another map crap before every pubgame, but it just makes duel/2v2 modes pretty much unplayable unless you have pro.

I must say that it ruined duells for me.
My premium just ended and i wont renew it this month.

My question is, does PREM servers also have this option and nothing else? Because i would like to vote to the map of my liking.

Duel is almost the only thing i enjoy playing, and i just hope they didnt ruin that for me.

You can vote maps normally on premium servers.

What the fuck is this - you wait until the duel is over to be the next opponent. Map vote takes place - map changes - and you are still in line. Really?

It wouldn't be nearly as bad if they actually made maplists for each gametype and this vote system chose 3 random maps from that list. But they keep thinking that just about any map is good for just about any gametype. The night of the update I played about a dozen games, there was only one time this new map vote offered decent maps to vote on.

I really have no issue whatsoever with the post-game voting. my only issue is non-prem servers not being able to vote normally

edit: oh also I thought that, if they aren't going to remove this new non-prem server voting, they should at least allow is to vote im-game form the 3 maps that would normally be shown only after the game is done.

The only reason they are going bankrupt is because they insist on running servers themselves which is the most retarded thing EVER. People played Q3 and it was irrelevant to id going bankrupt or not. The game as it is is a solid platform that doesn't need much updates anymore. They should let people rent servers from private companies and servers run by the people like it always has been. Other than that they are not investing a lot of money in QL (they only thing they would need is to maintain the main quakelive.com domain and that isn't a lot of money for a company like id+bethesa

as far as I know that's only the case in the US. All the rest are hosted by the community (therefore "we" lose money on servers not them)

People *returned* to play with Quakelive, easily 5 times the amount of players in my region from the last 1.32 days. The game is good, problem is most quakers whine whine whine but show no money.

Here's my take on the new mapvoting system.

If it wasn't for the lastest update, I would have probably never played Gothic Rage, Wargrounds and other unknown maps.
It almost seems like the general demographic changed. People actually want to try out new maps.

Gothic rage ain't that bad for duel, it's missing an RA but other than that, mega room offers nice fights, lots of vertical action etc

Only played wargrounds on FFA but it seemed to me that I'd rather play a lot more of it then any other standard FFA map, just because it's "new" and offers a variety of different methods in order to take the first place.

There are some drawbacks though, one being the fact that there are only 3 maps to choose from after the match has ended.

Sometimes you're stuck with beyond reality, shitmap and shitmap, by increasing the number of maps at your disposal, you would increase a chance of players sticking to the same server and possibly voting a map they actually want to play (read: not beyond reality).

4 could do, maybe 5 if it's not too much.

My second grudge is server restart if you vote a map that is currently being played.
As someone stated before me, people don't like waiting, especially not in between the games.

If I'm currently playing let's say ZTN and next map me and my opponent both vote ZTN, don't restart the server, just do a quick map_restart. This used to happen before the update, why haven't they kept it that way?

Third, if both me and my opponent vote for a map in the first 2 seconds, don't let us stare like idiots into scoreboard, just stop the countdown and start the map.


Another idea I had:

Spawn training/competition duel servers, which doesn't have the same map voting system.

OR

Allow pro users to spawn training/competition servers.

Although it has some interesting features, Wargrounds in general is just shit imo, too many voids and tiny rooms, and that green/brown theme just makes me want to sleep. Gothic rage seems okayish but I think the item placement could be better.

after i already cancelled my premium membership after the last update this one makes me rage even more. since i cannot do more than not paying + using adblock ill just refuse to ever buy an id software product again. in hopes this joke of a company dies.
oh and the next time i see carmac in one of his technotes i might literally spit at the screen. all that blabla about how awesome they are and the result are heartless products without any story/atmosphere/gameplay and such bad technology that in 2012 you still have to navigate through thin tube levels that wont let you ever leave the path because the shitengine cannot handle it.
