Would any one mind seeing assists in TDM? I don't mean assists as in doing partial damage, I mean assists as in if you pass a weapon off every kill that person gets with the weapon gives you an assist. It might help pub games some what but, I think it would be nice to see assists in matches. It shows a different skill within the game being capable of getting away with weapons for your teammates.

I think they would be just distracting. I mean an Impressive and Excellent is somehow expected, but Assists randomly popping up on a screen could distract you. Also it's not really your achievement. If you pass of a weapon to a quad guy, he can get 10 kills with it, or die in an instant. You did the same amount of work in both cases, but in the first one, you got 10 Assists, and in the second 0.
Edit: But I like the aspect of motivating players on public with a reward to share weapons.
It would just show on the scoreboard not a pop up type thing. Assists work the same way in sports you can make the great pass but the guy still has to be able to hit the shot to get the assist.
Player A) Has poor LG aim but moves around knows maps well
Player B) Has great LG aim but moves around maps poorly
Player A) actually gets some glory with this system for passing off the LG. Player B) can see (Player A's) assist total and contribution to the team more clearly. Both players will respect each others talents.
That would be messy, and also unlogical, because they are not really related. Like why would you gain ammo to your other guns by dropping one? However, a small hp increase could be explained like this:
- You give weapon to your teammate.
- Your teammate thanks the weapon by blowing you a kiss.
- A kiss on the wounds has healing power: BAMM, +10 hp.

I can't see the point but I suppose it would be nice, might even add the value to dropping guns in pickups so the stat whores can get "teamplay" stats and not scoop all the guns like a bunch of bellends all game!!!! :)
I think some kind of leveling system would be better based on gaining xp, isn't that what kids like nowadays?
You could gain xp every time you get a frag, more xp for powerup frags and ctf caps, assists and winning games ect and big xp bonuses for getting awards. They would still need a reason to want to level up though, not sure what that could be. Maybe remove all colours from names and every 10 levels you gain an extra colour :D
stats page in the end should have weapons dropped to enemies and friends tab, aswell as a damage done by the weapons you have dropped (both enemy and friendly) so you have weapon drop net and weapon drop damage net stats aswell... or maybe not 8)
btw am i the only person who doesnt like drop weapon in ql tdm? i like them in cpm. but i dont think theyre very good in vq3/ql. weapon control is in essence the basis of ql tdm strategy (mainly cos armors are so pointless mostly). so being able to share weapons kinda takes away from the gameplay imo.
totally dont understand why we still play tdm with weak armors btw, since we've had the ability to play it with strong armors since what a year now? sad.
Current armors are definitely too weak from my point of view. Armor really needs to be more feared in TDM, but with the current system the yellow is so ineffective and even the red disappears quickly just from machine gun spam. I'd rather see a game where at least the red armor gives significant protection and allows you to take a far more aggressive approach when you have it.
I believe stronger armors would improve TDM by further increasing the emphasis on controlling important items and enabling more impressive runs of frags from the armored players. It's something we could potentially think about testing in a showmatch some time in the future.
No, but also yes. If you're comparing to duel the armor offers the same protection, but, there's far more sources of damage to be concerned about and far less armor available.
The idea has been proposed a few times, and isn't a bad one. It is a bit tricky to implement it in a manner that couldn't be heavily abused by padders -- but beyond that it is a good idea.
In the past we hadn't implemented it because it gave dual-purpose to what an 'assist' meant... as at that time it was purely a CTF award. But we've already broken that rule by introducing them in FT and the new gametypes. I was always for the idea myself, we just had some internal opposition from other team members.
I'm all for it, if other team members agree we'll consider adding it in the near future.
I don't mind to have more stats regarding this for sure. I think in general this would increase and motivate new players to share weapons (or remind them) and in particular with public/pickup games. Stats, rewards and achievements do indeed affect or increase the will for many players to achieve them.
When it comes to 'assist' for sharing weapon, I'm also for this as long as you don't get a reward on your screen while playing :).
Since 'assist' already exists in ctf, you could rename one of them or call them 'Flag assist / Weapon assist' or something in those lines.
