But kudos to Logitech's superb service. I got a new one in the mail only 3 days after contacting them about it.

Logitech has excellent service...... so excellent that you can get a free mouse by calling their support and telling them your "mouse" is broken.

The thing is, why buy it in the first place, when you can be certain, that it will fuck up, and you won't have a "mouse" for 3-5 days

ps: btw what do u do with ur mouse to get them broken, lol. ive had a wmo for alotof years, an abyssus for more than 2 years and a g400 for a few months now and all of them are working. never seen a wmo problem with working. abyssus is shit product quality, so i wouldnt be surprised if anything happens to it, infact it feels like it has some tracking problems lately and so i got a g400 which seems rock solid.

Before the G400, I have used only one MX 510 for approximately 4 yrs, and after that several MX 518; I just feel, that the manifacturing quality decreased from model to model; the G400 being the worst built. I remember using a mouse bungee for some time back then, so it's maybe me. But even without a Bungee a mouse cable should be able to last at least one year, shouldn't it?
EDIT: On the one hand production costs and products of high-tech value are decreasing the most, on the other hand I don't think the overall decrease of production costs covers the significant decrease in price. So there has to be a lack of quality, otherwise it wouldn't be so cheap. When the mx510 came out, you had to pay more than for a G400 now; although the G400 is more high-tech than the mx510 (f.e. several dpi settings), take into account inflation and you have to have a significant decrease in production cost, which is the cause for the loss of quality.
It may be very efficient for them since idiots like me are too lazy to bother with requesting new mices/refunds (living in different places so they can't just walk into the store they bought the product and request a new one) and too addicted to cope with a mouse loss of several days; so they just keep on buying this shitty product over and over again.

well, im gonna get rid of my g400 once we had our first true manufacturer "bst" gets things going :).

i was never in love with the shape (im more like a fingertip user, so with a heavy mouse like g400; i always get the problem to control the back part of the mouse) and yet i always liked lightest mice. but still, this has the best sensor/price ratio on the market afaik. if it didnt break that quick like u guys experienced, im sure u'd like it better especially guys that are ex MX 510/518 users.

I've had my newer g400 for 4 months now (one without the angle/snapping prediction) and it's been flawless so far. Honestly, it's the best mouse I've ever played quake with, though I think I may have had better aim with my razer mice (probably more so due to getting older and more alcoholic). I never tried the older g400 with the prediction shit built into the engine, but as for the newer model I can say I have absolutely no complaints thus far after 4 months.

I have my G400 since January (8 months). It's working fine without any issues.

logitech has a great replacement policy, if your mouse breaks email them about it and see what I mean.

i used logitech forever. MX518, G400, G5, G500... none of them ever went out on me EXCEPT the G5. Cable went screwy, but I took it apart and fixed the connection. It's still a beast. Sorry about your troubles.

I've had 2 g400's in the past year, each used for ~6months, both still perfectly working. The first one had the angle snapping and was provided free from logitech because it replaced my previous mouse, which started having the problems described in this thread.. after *4* years of use. (mx518-2)
The 2nd one I got from a local shop (no angle snapping, checked serial # at store) and have been using it for ~6 months now, and it still works flawlessly, as well.

The cable is small on the g400 you cant treat it like shit because it will be the first thing to go out if you do. I could see this being a higher than normal defect point, so I'm sure not everyone that has this happen will have treated their mouse like garbage either. The important thing is that you have good cs backing it up that will pretty much send you a replacement for any issue you have, within a short time frame. And they dont have any higher of a defect rate than many other mice out there. Look up any other popular mice and you will see threads about how defective they are, (usually) from a vocal minority.

It's the cord. The cord goes bad on the G400 very easily.

Mine started disconnecting and reconnecting. I've taped the cord to the side of the mouse, and that has temporarily fixed it.

I e-mailed Logitech and they're sending me a replacement.

Using mine since 3 months or so now with no problems. the only thing that can happen if you continously rape the mouse cable by not properly managing it to have enough lenght near your mouse pad, is that some of the contacts for the cable may break inside the mouse. then again this could also easily happen to an mx518.

Bought one few days ago. It seems that it's rev 1 so I was a little bit sad at the beginning because all of these bad reviews about angle snapping and prediction. Fortunately I don't have any problems with that and after switching from g500 I feel like an aimbot :D. Even if it will break after few months I will definately buy another one.

I got two, one with and one without angle snapping. Both are still working fine, super mouse!

my first g400 died about 2 weeks ago with the disconnect problem, but that mouse is 2 years old so i don't mind much since i got a new one for € 24,50. looking at what razer or steelseries ask for their mice which also break after a couple of years theres no need to complain.

if you still have gaurantee logitech will just send you a new g400 without even asking any questions and letting you keep your old one.

I've also got the issue where there is play in the LMB before it actually touches the switch. I don't know if some part of the outer shell is loose because sometimes I hear a random noise like something is popping out of place. Overall I'd say build quality is definitely down compared to the original mx518.

I've also recently had experience with their racing wheels and while I never owned one of their previous wheels, I have to say I'm disappointed in the build quality of the g27. I had to send the second one back last week because of weird internal noises that shouldn't be there. So I'll be getting my third in about 4 months, not good. The difference in feel between the two new wheels I've had so far is pretty drastic, they really need to step up their QA for their products.

Lastly, their support has gone to the shitter as well. It took 4 times trying to call (last week, about the wheel) without someone hanging up on me. When I finally did talk to someone, she took all the info and I thought the problem was in the process of being resolved. 3 days later and still no word from them (waiting for shipping label), I call back and for some reason the lady I talked to made no record of my call. For me, I don't think I'll be purchasing anymore Logitech products.

I have exactly the same problem with the left mouse button that you report here. The mouse is less than 6 months old, and not a lot of hours of use by FPS standards. I mainly play BF3 and it is unusable now and even getting bad for just surfing the net. Time to try Logitech support I think if I can find the receipt. I have always bought a lot of Logitech products in the past but they are getting noticeably worse, so not buying any more.

You needn't look further than the G400S to see that Logitech is quietly trying to sweep their defective product under the rug. There's a tiny bit of strain relief on the new mouse where the cord enters the body. There isn't any on the G400 and that's exactly where mine and my friend's G44 both failed.
