Wow, no way. I was in a server with him a day or two ago and said he should stream every once in awhile for the community. Looks like he took it to heart. GLHF!

Here you'll get a chance to see him play the games he loves to play and get to see what he goes through on a daily basis to improve his game.Play it to the Bone with Fatal1ty!
Wendel wants gaming to be considered a true sport and considers himself an “E-Sportsman”. Like any other professional athlete, he trains for hours a day and analyzes his performances by watching videos of himself in action – all with the goal of being the best in the world.
than you see him playing ffa and leage of legends. just can u be a bigger fake?
Well they are obviously the best he can find, what's the matter, can't you read?

It is clearly implied that he will be training against skilled players like a true professional athlete. He will also be analyzing these FFA matches afterwards. These FFAs will make him the best in the world....
I was watching the stream and stopped to post just that :P. I mean u can'f find a tier 4 server with so low level, at least not in EU... how the fuck does he do it?
I saw him get beat by Fat_Ass on DM6... The guy must have supersized his gaming food to do it :D Fatal1ty was doing his usual nade spam from pillars to LG - zZz But on other maps I got to say he makes FFA look good.
"THE FIRST OF HIS KIND; Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel is the most accomplished, professional Gamer in history and the breakthrough name and face of the sport. As the world’s most famous gamer he spreads interest in gaming wherever he goes and, in the process, has become the sport’s worldwide ambassador. It is retarded to have those expectations from fat as most of the people here do. He is obviously not a pro gamer now, and the texts are written for him by some marketing guy, so obviously it can be ignored.
He still does good thing, as it's some promotion for QL and also for community he shows that even now when he's a "businessman", he still has affection for quake and still spends time playing it.
Your exact arguments ("it's retarded to point out expected behaviour") can be used to "criticise" ANYONE doing ANYTHING... including ESR users having a laugh at Fatal1ty.
Learn to read better maybe?
My exact argument is expectations themselves are retarded, not the act of pointing them out.
It is retarded to expect casual businessman (fatal1ty) to play anything other than a casual game. It is retarted to expect that if someone was a pro player 10 years ago, his goal must always be to forever provide proof for community that he is worthy of all his titles and he's never allowed to revert to normal pub casual games for fun. It is retarded to expect any sort of adequacy from a marketing text, especially in gaming business targeted for retarded kids. Etc, etc, etc.
If you just turn on your brain for a minute, you will understand that it's just fat having some appreciation of what a fun game Quake always was and sharing it with people via stream. WHAT A RIDICULOUS THING, RIGHT?
What I'm trying to say is, if expectations themselves are retarded, your expectations of ESR's behaviour are retarded too. You can't criticise people for acting in an expected manner (esr having a laugh at fatal1ty) and defend someone else for acting in an expected manner (fatal1ty trying to promote himselfquake LoL )... it just doesn't make sense regardless of what specific actions each party is actually doing.
- Fatal1ty is ridiculous, this is to be expected.
- Anyone pointing out this expected behaviour of Fatal1ty is a retard.
- ESR users are retards because they are pointing out this expected behaviour of Fatal1ty.
Can be applied to anything, including this:
- ESR users make fun of Fatal1ty, this is to be expected.
- Anyone pointing out this expected behaviour of ESR users is a retard.
- p4r4 is a retard because he is pointing out this expected behaviour of ESR users.
Anyway, I won't be talking about the matter any further, you either can't or don't want to understand that you have included yourself in your "retarded pattern expectation" in the process of explaining it.
Dude, how can you read my words and not understand absolutely anything of it, multiple times in a row?
All I say is that people make fun of fatality because he doesn't meet their retarded expectations. And you manage to ignore everything I say, invent your own "argument", attribute it to me, and use to to "prove" that I am retarded too and do it not even with special evil intent but honestly believing that your logic is completely correct.
What are my expectations and why are they retarded and where I am making fun of people and where is said that it's because they don't meet some expectations?
If you expect ESR users to not laugh at Fatal1ty, you have retarded expectations. Simply pointing out that ESR users expectations are retarded regarding this, according to you, would also be retarded.
My exact argument is expectations themselves are retarded
You expect ESR users to not laugh at Fatal1ty... that's pretty retarded.
Even if you did expect them to laugh at Fatal1ty, and were simply "pointing it out", either way, you're retarded.
How the hell you ALWAYS manage to completely miss my point and imagine in your head that I say completely opposite thing to what I say?
I expect retarded ESR users to laugh at fatal1ty. I give reason why I consider them retarded. Is this retarded? Having retarded expectations is retarded, not pointing it out.
Can you explain, why you think that pointing out that someone is a retard is retarded by itself? (And if it is, then you're retarded because you said I have retarded expectations).
watched and talked with him last nite
cool guy, honest when it came to personal questions, but he gave a quite a few prepackaged rehearsed answers when it came to his business.
as for his gaming ability
he's killer at FFA, but he doesn't seem to understand CA at all, lol.
i'll still watch his stream from time to time if he continues to do it tho.
#team fat
he plays it exactly like he does ffa
camps bottom and pillars
tosses all his grenades while camping
he doesnt engage in fighting, he lets it come to him
that works in ffa, but doesn't work at all in CA
you have to be extremely proactive to score points in CA especially when playing against good players
Edited by Musicofmelkor at 20:04 CDT, 27 August 2012
camping doesnt work in pubs against good players
all it does is screws your teammates over and makes it harder on you at the end of the round
the best strat on pub is to meet up, gang bang people at the start of the round and then chip away damage on the remaining people alive, that's it.
Fat camped every beginning round that i saw and towards the end of each round he'd get curb stomped by multiple people rjing off him and railing him to shreds
it doesn't matter how good you are at duel, you are not going to make many last man standing comebacks in CA against good people, the odds are too stacked against you

That's strange. From what I've seen playing with pros to brand new players is quite different. It's the "good" players sitting at pillars or RG jump pad waiting until they're last. These guys don't care about win/loss, they're worried about their own score. Which if you can aim like some of them can, you can make out pretty good being last and full every round. Even if you don't win the round. That's why you see those guys with monster scores even when their team gets stomped. It's not because they're awesome, it's because they're playing for themselves.
if you're the best player on the server, kicking back and railing everybody isn't a bad strat, you're going to get a lot of easy damage on the newbs
what i'm talking about is how to play on a server with only top tier aimers,
which is what fat had to do last nite
here's some evidence to back up my claim
It's from a championship game between the top NA ca teams in 09(i think this was before the the lg and enemy model increases, too)
tell me what you see working better here
railing from afar or being aggressive
Edited by Musicofmelkor at 05:26 CDT, 28 August 2012
Man, you're preaching to the choir here. Believe me, I'm quite aware what wins games and it isn't sitting back and camping. I'm telling you what I see game after game over several thousand games. It doesn't matter if every person in the server is a high level player or not, the so called "good" players are going to be sitting back round after round so they can try to hero it.
Eh, sorry. Not all of us get off on being a snob. I have noticed a few things though about the people most vocal with the whole "lolca" business. They're always at least one of the following:
a) One of the kinds of players that make CA shit in the first place. Always playing for themselves only and trying to be a pubstar.
b) CA is their most played gametype. (this one really cracks me up)
See how people treat FFA? It's fun and people enjoy it, yet no one talks about advanced tactics.
Same goes for CA, it doesn't have any depth as opposed to let's say TDM (area control, timing, weapon sharing, rushing PU) or CTF.
No one takes CA too seriously, and those who do are pretentious faggots.
I used to play on the west coast and winning meant everything there.
dmg and aim percentages didn't mean squat
winning meant so much to the pubstars there that A LOT of them would quit during the last round, so they wouldn't get the loss on their record. sometimes, you'd see the entire losing team just vanish on the last round, lol. people would even harrass campers/heroes, i recall seeing a lot of people being threatened and some even getting kicked for repeated fail camping. don't phuck with people's chances at a W when you play on the west coast ;p
personally, i enjoyed it cause it made for an ultra competitive environment. I've always found it more fun when everybody is going at their hardest to win.
anyways, i haven't played in years, so i don't know if things have changed or if different areas of the country play CA differently, i'm just going by with what i saw.

but these people don't even care about winning the match in pubs. all they want to do is finish 1st on the scoreboard. If they lose, it's easy, just blame it on the team and come off as King 1337. If they win, then they're Superking 1337.
I feel that overall czm is a way smarter player, more methodical less prone to emotions. Fat imho (not that I can prove it) followed the practise hard, become good philosophy. To a certain extent, this is not working in QL anymore.
yea but you know you can't become pro in anything if you start it at the age of 20++ :F every professional athlete (also e-sports athletes!) has started way earlier at the age of 5-15 or something
if you have previous quake experience you can also play at an 1337 level at 30 plus ...
there are many runners from distances of 1000/3000/5000/10000 m who switch to marathon in their thirties and can compete with the elite ... or take lance armstrong, he started triathlon at 39 or something (he was a triathlete on short distance for a short time in his teens though, but at 17 plus or something he did only cycling) ... and he won the ironman 70.3 hawaii in a record time of 3:50 ... this guy could have won the world championship in kona, if this doping controversials from his time as a cyclist in the tour didn't stop him ...
problem in gaming is there is no money in it ... it takes a lot of time to be good ... you don't have so many benefits from playing the game ...
it's also about motivation ... it's not so easy to motivate yourself for an online only game at 30 plus ... I am 29 and somehow I find quake interesting, and played it previously and was very good at it ... but it's hard right now to find motivation to really play it ... I think I have not accumulated 10 hours yet on my account, but won some ffa's already ... it's a cool game, but problem is to find the time and motivation to play it, there are so many other things in life ...
take some elite player from the q1 and q2 era and give him motivation to play ql, voila another elite player in ql ...
in your 30s you are not so likely to invest a lot of time and energy into an onlinegame, especially when you already know what the experience is like and you cannot experience much new stuff ...
if there was serious money in ql, you could expect some pro's to do a comeback ... in table tennis even there are some 40 year olds playing in national team, etc. ...
yeah of course, the 30+ plus must have had some experience in a similar game, that's why fat still can become elite in ql, but not in sc2 for example ...
anyway ... take some random 12-14 year old ... you think he automatically he has what it takes to become elite in ql? you can train as much of these teens as you want, chances are slim one of them gets to be elite just because they are young ... talent is there or it isn't ...
in many sports players get bad at later age due to injuries, like in most team ball games like football, basketball, etc. ... it's a matter of fact most of these players go into a game completely drugged with painkillers ...
but in sports like table tennis or endurance sports in general you can also be very good at a later age ...
imho table tennis can be compared to quake, since it also relies on a lot of handeye coordination ... so if you can still be very good in table tennis at 30+, why shouldn't it be possible in quake?
no q1/q2 "elite player" will be elite in ql if they started now, just like cooller never really won anything in ql
and it's not possible in quake because you need (atleast needed) to have some special talent to be number one, then again that's what cooller/strenx lacked, something which you cannot get if you're old enough
do the three letters c z m ring a bell? and this guy is not training as much as rapha/cypher ...
and cooler is also not really known to take ql very seriously afaik
that is true that this is important ...
you need a solid good base to start from, that was built up in your youth in that activity or a very similar one ...
yeah he won one event = really never won anything to me :( nothing against him just used him as an example, somebody said he's the best 3-8th finisher ever
imo strenx easily could have been there if it wasnt for his mental issues and cooller was already somewhat withdrawn in ql period...
from what i rather see is that there isnt enough money/events to sustain a healthy top10. there is a lot of players who easily could be up there, esp. older ones its just when you used to be making good money from progaming a yearly 2-3 events with a combined prizepool of ~20k$ doesnt seems so appealing i guess, especially if 1 or 2 maps going rule out if you make 10k or 2k a year, there is very few (if any) sponsors who willing to give more than maybe pay your flight tickets, that adds up too. also most of them past 20yr old or even 25, its just not ok to say "ill play a couple of years and see what happens than" especially as competitive quake practically ended last year.
on the contrary we see a rise of many "new" players that everyone complained about (carmac), somewhat it didnt helped tho =/
strenx WOULD have been there if he COULD. Don't know about cooller, maybe it's the same with him don't know.
What we actually need imo is ql to be a better game, and yeah it's the best between hf and gg but a lot of other things suck. And the thing is, id software doesn't aim to make ql a better game, more like shut it down asap with the least losses possible...
reaction time stays stable for a long period you know, it probably declines between 40 and 50, depends on people. fatal1ty is what ? 28/29 yo? you just need to practice with the best players if you want to be among the best.
its hard to get back into the game once u been out for a while imo. maybe if he re-invented the way its played he fine, but catching up and learning the tricks is just hella hard
http://www.sendspace.com/file/88es3d here is the demo of that night. Dude had infinite ammo and fire with weapons was insane fast :D Shotgun was like using chaingun "boom-boom-boom'' in a milli seconds :D Also he made machinegun bullet strong as 1BFG blast.
