1) Streamer must be a very trustable person. He (or she) must using streaming soft with delays.

2) Since we haven't an "official" cup' server it will be a problem to streamer to find a match. Any player can prohibit stream also.

QL has a few trustworthy streamers.

Finding a server is easy, streamers/casters and players always sticking around IRC channels.

The majority of QL online tournaments have been running on this system for years without major flaws.

Simple rule. If both players want to be streamed - ok, they can do it. If anyone don't want stream - stream isn't allowed. So streamers must contact to participants directly, not with me.

Might be a full year now that I havent seen a prem. or pro subscription rule in any tournament out there. Can you tell us why you need a pro and only a pro subscription? Whats the problem with premium? And how's that gonna help to get lots of players to join your cup? Or maybe you dont want that? But that doesnt make any sense at all. I dont get it...

The majority of duellers are either premium or standard, since only having prem is just fine for duelling. I'm not even sure how many pro players have pro sub.

It's your cup and your rules, I understand that.
This cup starts in 2 months, more than enough time to change some rules. You'll get a lot more players if you don't limit yourself to exclusively pro members.


I just did a quick check and a lot of players ranging from 1700 to 2400 don't have pro - seeing those players is crucial for this tournament.

At least make it premium and require all matches to be played on pvt servers - as for the stream - I have never met a player that wouldn't want his match streamed.

Also, if you're concerned with security - 700 viewers on stream surely are a good enough reason not to turn on cheats.

I'm afraid that streamers can cast without delay. It gives an advantage to unfair players.

edit: some1, please, make an analyze of 1/8 FaceIt Cup #1. How many players have Pro there? And we'll decide about Prem.

I remember that rule back from the cs days - it does not apply for quake.

Streams don't have delay and so far no one ever complained about it. It's been like that for years.

Obviously, I use this feature for spawning servers at cups for beginners (#1 and #2) since that cups haven't subscription restrictions. In cup #3 I can spawn servers for Prem/Prem matches on demand.

After discussion with strenx as mentioned above. He gave a good arguments to do it. Also, I've carefully read all big discussion about maps for FaceIt on this forum.

The map pool will never be perfect - some players like tox, others like hektik, some despise aero, others play only ztn.

I've yet to see a map pool that people would agree on.
Let's just say that anything involving "official" maps is ok, then it all comes down to individuals not liking a map.

I think the map pool is great, along with the comeback of dm6, I miss the action it delivered and ztn games are becoming real snoozefests.

Wow i read all those comments and sure, i agree on most of the objections: No reason to only let pro accounts play especially since admins can spawn servers for the cupmatches (allready changed i know). If players can decide wether they want to be streamed or not potentially many cool games won't be streamed and this big event may flop totaly for the "viewing comunity", even if i can't imagine too many players will regret to have a streamer on their server. And of course like in each other tourney before there is an endless discussion about single maps in the pool.
BUT i could hardly find anybody saying how cool it is to have another online event with a - for quake conditions - respectable price money. Someone who reinforces the organizer in his work. If there's reversal for quake immidiately houndrets of people whining that quake is dead but if something new and cool happens to the game the euphoria is very curbed. If i would put a lot of effort in something to support the community and everybody just tells me what i do wrong i'd think twice if i'll do this again. Don't be so negative! :)

We just need to sort out the date/time, currently faceit is one of the major and possibly only reputable online duel cups for Quake Live - clashing the schedule isn't beneficial to any party involved.

I suggest either merging or somehow changing the dates.
The QL community really appreciates what you're doing - the more cups we have, the better. It's just that putting both on sunday makes it impossible for people to participate in both events.

I appreciate the effort but maybe teaming up with faceit would have been better. Put up a bigger prize pot for faceit and in exchange for their stream and casting, they will promote esports heaven and zynaps.
