Gaming, esport? Forget, it is past. It is only about drinking and casemod contest and some supermom nowadays. I see myself as a big fan of Quake but I wouldn't go there even if i could teleport ;/
No game devekoper is about e-sports. They are afraid of getting hacked by people who fkn hack american banks.
unfortunately fps games are easier to affect with hacks then rpg e-sport games. And they attract less civilized an less honorable players by default, simply because its brains vs brawn.

I thought QuakeCon was about sitting in a room with a bunch of sweaty nerds then getting blazed and drunk as fuck in a hotel room, where they may or may not occur explorations of sexuality?
It was never about esport to begin with. Tournament was always just one extra thing in all bunch of stuff happening at QCon.
However, this is of course no excuse to repeatedly fail one of the biggest Quake esport events.
its mostly about lame kids trying to grab all the free swag they can get, maybe preview a few shitty AAA games coming out at a booth, and then trading some porn or playing shit like cod/tf2/minecraft/qlca in the byoc.
It most definitely isn't about Quake. Couldn't tell you when it stopped being about it, but a 20 person LAN in 1997 with people who love Quake sounds a shit ton more appealing than what it has become.
the self congratulation mixed with paying whores to be on stage mixed with the audience of fat spotty pricks that would bend over and get fucked in the arse for a free T-shirt is one of the most sickening things ive ever seen.
