I wouldn't say the t7 ending was awesome. Surprising, yes, as nobody would have thought backsteen would do that, but not awesome.
I would have expected aero's ending to be there though.

...one more spam thought about Silence before returning to stream: although i do love watching czm play, he's going to find out that Silence strat&play has progressed considerably since his win over dem0n when the map was new.

The stream is totaly unwatchable. It lags on every quality i set it too... It was the same thing at the first faceitcup ....:/

480p doesn't lag for me but is still unwatchable, due to compression artifacts (blockiness). It's coming down with ~1kbit but apparently that just isn't enough given the stream looking that starved.

I'm guessing it's due to all the visual detail they chose to enable and which doesn't compress well. There's a reason for optimized streaming configs to exist after all I guess.

i mean they are kinda doing the same thing as quakecon did, except they might be pulling it off on their end. using crazy bitrate and fps wont work out well for people with more than 3 year old computers

I don't get why russian own3d stream doesn't lag at all while FACEiT Official Stream in Studio with Special Casters is absolutely unwatchable.

No. The gg.ru stream takes ~800kbit@360p while faceit takes around 1kbit@480p. And still the russian stream looks substantially better.

For a good looking stream ppl need to understand a little about video compression. Picmip 0 comes at a cost, and and that cost is huge in terms of streaming bandwidth.

To me it looks like the faceit ppl are beginning from scratch, ignoring all the lessons learned in the past. Seems to be happening all the time with quake, back to square one for everybody ...

I think you're living in the past.

I remember the same debate 4 years back. Back then it was finally settled on high picmip because all of Russia was on 512 Kbps and the rest of us had 1-2 Mbps, with Swedes laughing at us.

Even up till 2011, all Russian streams were 500 Kbps, with Force having additional "HQ" stream that was ~1500.

But times are changing. YouTube doesn't default to 360p anymore (it actually defaults to 720p 2 Mbps on high res screens), Russians stopped streaming LQ streams, we're all on 4+ Mbps even on our freaking phones!

So nowadays a proper HQ stream is nothing unusual and nothing that shouldn't work.


Now, the fact that own3d.tv can't send more than 1,5 Mbps to me is something entirely different. That's either their servers or networks or peerings. Stuff you have no idea about.

And twitch.tv has exactly the same problem, however with twitch.tv there's usually a working "720p" added to "best" (which I don't know - uses different CDN or something? Because it has much more bandwidth available).

Ye, it was pretty obvious though because dem0n saw you spawn on ra, spammed for a while and ran away with you still down there. Then saw you take rockets 7-8 secs laters. Casters didn't get it though.
