i think you can buy computers nowdays in special computershops. they sell you the computer AND a monitor device in bundles. if you ARE lucky you get a printer and a ton of paper with it too. its great.
with it you can run quake in 30+ frames (eyes can't handle more) and you can also start and stop quake videos in 1080x720 points i guess.
i shouldn't have to know everything or anything about computer specs if i just want to know if it has the capacity to run quake well and edit montages.
but you do know that today's cars are much fater than those 30 years ago without knowing anything about specs and mechanics.
same goes for pc. anything you buy today or even a year or two old will be more than fine to run both especially if its a desktop.

so just get the PC to play comfortably with stable 125fps
