there is nothing more solid than a fractal case, i got myself the R3 well over a year ago, and it still looks awesomesauce ^^

infact, you could call them lian-li cases with a proper pricetag :P

I have both a lian li pc x2000 and a fractal design r3 for my server and the fractal design contruction, material and design quality is way better for a fraction of lian li prices. Don't know what changes they've made for the r4 version but i'm sure you can't go wrong with it.

Seriously this company makes the best fucking cases ever. I have an R3 XL (giant version of the define r3) and it's amazing. I spent way too much money on it back when it was new, but I seriously won't ever need to buy another case unless mobo form factors go through some kind of violent change.

What hardware do you have and what kind of case are you looking for? Silence vs Cooling?

I've tried about 7 cases personally and know about a lot more, would definitely recommend a quiet case (Fractal R4, Corsair 550D etc). The main reason I want to ascertain your hardware is to see if a silent case is worth it. Quiet cases only work out so well if they have quiet stuff inside them.

Imagine walking past your pc and not being able to tell if it's on or not as it's so quiet...

just normal stuff like amd 6850 gpu, a 750w psu, a blu-ray reader and two HD's, one normal one ssd. Got one of those huge cpu coolers stuck on my mobo like the size of the mobo lol. I don't really care about noise or w.e.. cooling is more important to me!

I'm heavily leaning towards the fractal r4 right now.

EDIT: actually airflow is a very important factor for me. I got a cat and dog that I never brush ever and I'm a slob and my PC is ground level D:

Fractal R4 and P180 are very silence focused, not primarily airflow cases and the cooling suffers as a result.

You want a Silverstone Raven series, RV02 or RV03. Them things have stupendous cooling with the rotated motherboard design.

Or failing that a standard high airflow case, CM Storm Trooper, Antec 1200 that sort of thing.

Silentmaxx ST-11 Pro all the way.

Two months ago i still used an athlon 64 3200, 2 gbram and a nvidia 7600gt agp in a silentmaxx st-11 big tower :] It was time to get something new hehe

It's a nice little config though.

Antec cases rock! Best case I ever had.

I'm thinking of selling my Antec 1200 as I'm DIY-ing something in the new couple of weeks. It's a monster case.

I have the Corsair 600T, it's:

- very easy to open/close, it doesn't use screws on the back like regular cases, uses handles on the side.
- loads of space inside
- removing cards is easy, large thumb screws secure them.
- good cable management with all psu cables being fed behind the floor panel.
- easily removable hdd bays (I removed one since 1 was enough for 3 hdd's), again with good cable management
- 2 large fans, front and top
- all hdd bays have holes for 2.5" ssd's

Mine doesn't have that grid on the side.

SSD can be taped onto the chassi's interior. Won't need any brackets or anything. If you want to get a new chassi only because you cant fit your SSD, you should reconsider getting a new chassi.

For the record, in English we use a silent 's' on the end of 'chassis'.

If you want to pluralize it or show possession you just tack the apostrophe onto the end (The chassis' interior). Not trying to be a nazi about it, just the way you wrote it made me twitch a bit. :)

Fractal Design. For real.

define R3/xl or whatever the newer version is now. R4 I guess. I've done 4 or 5 builds in this case and it is my favorite ever. Not necessarily the easiest to work in (CPU power in particular is really fucking hard to attach if you don't do it before the mobo goes in (I suggest extensions)), but the build quality is amazing. These things are sturdy as fuck and weigh a ton, and they're visually subtle so you can leave it out in your apartment without all of your friends thinking your some kind of ricer douchebag.

I have antec one case, was recommended by german c't magazine once for build up of a computer, well what to say everything fits fine, easy to use

I'm also looking into some cases lately, and my current favorites are:

- Fractal Design Define R4, very clean and stylish look, great features inside, very silent

- Corsair Obsidian 650D, nice polished clean look, better airflow than other Corsair cases, also pretty silent as far as I know, great features inside. Maybe better options for a watercooling radiator on the top than the Fractal Design case

I'm sure there are some more. Watch some reviews from TimeToLiveCustoms on YouTube. He has quite lengthy reviews (usually longer than 30 minutes) going through many details often overlooked by other reviews.

SSD are super light and not fragile at all, plus they don't vibrate or get hot so you can do whatever you want with them but don't change your case just because of that :)

Of course if you have other motivations then consider getting a Fractal or Antec case (two brands I know & trust). To get something very sturdy and quiet I'd go Fractal and to get something with a great airflow I'd go Antec (902, 1200 etc). I'm sure there are other good brands but I can't say I know them.
