This map need to be rebalanced. It is very easy to control all items and denie it from out of control players. And punish out of control players. The rail spawn spot is very bad and the spawnfrags are very easy. Map could benefit from a second YA or more armor splited btw shards and GA? Map could also benefit from bars at rail spot and biger wall somewhere near GA.

You just watched 1 map of Hektik in finals and it's totally unbalanced? Sure, if it could be even more balanced that's cool - but there have been plenty of extremely tight matches as well. As far as I know, there have been rape games in every map.

8 frag sapwnrun vs 9 frag spawnrun is not the most interesting thing to watch or play.

Watched the games again for the sake of entertainment and i have to say rapha played it almost to the perfection. But i still think there could be one thing or two to change to make it more enjoyable. It's just a simple guess as my experience in that matter is quite laking. I do have watched a good amount of games on it tho and i realy think the spawning player should have a easier time getting a weapon to fight back, currently it seems very easy to deny weapon (and items ofc).

I think the map is "semi-good". It has a few close games. But mostly its about who aims the best and therefore a rape more often than not. Should just put in some other map in place of it, only reason i wanna see hektik is that spart1e is strong on it. :P

imo the map isn't all that bad, rapha is just very good at it. he dominated every game on it in the playofs, vs pavel, avek and evil.

The only negative thing I can come up with atm is that there's too much spawns in the YA room.

On aero from any spawn u can get a weapon very fast, on hektitk the couple of YA spawns are just fucking shit, you have to take jump pad to get RL, you have to go through a corridor to take RG and the rail spot is even more opened than on aero, and im not even talking about the LG spot. So what?

When was the last time that one big quake final had two consecutive maps with rape to 0's changing from one side to the other? (rapha 25-0 2nd map:hektik, ev1l 11-0 3rd map:furious)

The map pool is great, i would just add dm6 and t9 and would be perfect. Its so cool to have players with specific map advantages playing bo5, more maps, more drama.

The amount of overtimes also proves something - latest Faceit cups have been so exciting due to the balanced map pool we have lately.

Changing RA and MH places will complitely change this map.Player in control will be facing difficulties when going for RA as that area is perfect for RL and RG ambush. My oppinion

This is an interesting idea.. Not sure if it wouldnt make the map a total back and forth aimfest though.
However, I would not alter the map that heavily after such a long time since it was released, quite a few people like it. Rather alter sinister RG and put it into pools.

I think it should be more maps like T7/Dm6 kinda maps long ranges which makes nade and rocket spam less effective and more speed to the game.

I think that arguably the best strat player like rapha dedicating to the map and dominating actually speaks very well of the map, i dont understand the hektik hate its fun and has many interesting angles and whatsnot.

Hektik has a lot of potential but people won't give it the time of day.
It plays a lot differently from the other "fast" maps like aerowalk and toxicity. It is a very difficult challenge to come back on...there are more ways to come back on it than just hitting 4 rails in a row.

The same way you could come back on any other map...

Let's assume you know the item timings very well (mega and RA at least). Your opponent of course has control and you're getting fucked up.

You can try to do the following:

Stack up.
There is a GA, YA, and 4 shards on the map (all on the bottom level thankfully). I understand grabbing all of these without taking damage is extremely difficult, but it requires a lot of patience and awareness of your enemy's position. If you successfully grab all these items without taking damage you will 100h/95a and you should have at least rail and rl. The weapon you desperately want though is LG.

Your priority (as always) is to take as little damage as you can. Assuming you know the item timings, your plan of action is to deal as much damage as possible to your opponent after they have picked up the major items.

This will allow you to die after having dealt a significant amount of damage and (hopefully) taking away all of their stack so that you can rush them off the spawn and kill them. Hopefully you can survive long enough to do damage when they spawn and prevent them from doing the same to you.

Hektik is a very small map and as such people feel pressured to play a fast game and don't have the patience to slow the map down. You need to create breathing room and just because your opponent has full control doesn't mean you need to rush them all the time...make them come to YOU to get the frag. They will always feel pressured to do damage to you no matter how much control they have otherwise you will be stacking up on the GA/YA/shards and will be able to contest for a major item.

They changed the spawns and they are even worse than the old ones. Dm6 is the biggest shit map there is.

I played the map a week ago. I have never ever seen such shitty spawns compared to other maps. Some people hate on hektik or w/e and I strictly hate on dm6 because playing out of control vs and aim heavy player is the most boring thing on dm6. Getting railed and again 2 min of collecting ya and shards :O

playing def on dm6 its tricky, but its possible, unlike hektik

DM6 is also unbalanced in QL because the RG, LG nerf make it harder to take back control.

Notice how there's not a single map besides DM6 that features only 2 armors in the current mappool although that was pretty standard during Q3 and Q4 and the fact that timelimit has been reduced by a third is also a problem for DM6

10 minutes is a problem on all maps, not only dm6...

and armours are not the problem, as you can stack up to 150 armour in 25 seconds, being out of control.... its enough to make a trap

I find it a bit hilarious that you are too stupid too understand but that doesn't matter.

Try seeing the whole picture for once, the RG and RL are the easier weapon to deal unanswered damage with. Now look at how they are positionied at DM6 it's pretty hard for the out of control player to get to.

Also I disagree that tl 10 is a problem on all maps. You usually have enough swings in control on all maps to be balanced out quite nicely, most arguments I heard on the subject were a matter of taste.

looking on whole picture it seems ppl here have problems with timing items, so they would know when they can push for certain areas of map :S

How do you describe balance? because the map is the same for both players. If you are talking about the fact that u get so many easy spawn kills in control then it just means you have to put more emphasis in getting into good situations out of control to win back that control. But you also have 10 minutes to do that in.

Starting spawn doesn't make it balanced, and the main items are all in sight prety much in center you just need to stay inbetween MH tele and RL and you can win the map, lower ground is too week. Its not like on other maps where you have something to work with when out of control by the spawns at start.

They should do a fast paced map pool for a one day comp with maps like hektik, toxicity, t9, phrantic and t4 haha

I honestly don't understand, why noone rages at aerowalk, because it's the same situation and rail angles over and over again. You are out of control and get the gl spawn over and over again. All the rail angles are the same everytime. Any game is the same - it's so boring. With Hektik it's a bit different, because it is not as overplayed as aerowalk, but basically the problem with all the little maps, is that there are some spots to deal easy rail damage (so that same situation happens again and again, because the map is tiny and you don't have many other possibilities to do dmg out of control) and you're movement is very limited if you're out of control, and and you can not set up any traps at all (also because you know where your opponent is like all the time, which makes it even more boring to watch and play). It's only rushing at some points and hoping to do enough damage, before a major item spawns. The good thing with Hektik is, that the movement of the player out of control is not as limited as on aerowalk with the gl dead-end. Toxicity is the best example of a well done fast-paced map, because you can force spawns easy and spawn rape very hard, but at the same time the movement of the player out of control is not as limited as it is with hektik or aero, which makes it more enjoyable to play. But then again I'm a bad player and the worst on aerowalk, so probably I just don't understand how to play the map.

i agree on tox part... map is small and full of corridors, allowing fast gameplay, yet you can do "proper" defensive game...


also: aero is better because of item placement... as i said to some1: on hub you get 75 armour stack, decent defensive weapon, and you are close to 2 most important weapons on map.

but overall i belive most of q3 maps got broken in ql because of 10mins timelimit, and nerfed mg

most of times in ql you get maybe 1-2 chances to retake control... if u fuck it up, you will lose... another 5 minutes gives you more time to build up stack, and make proper plan...

getting proper stack, finding out major item respawn times, dealing some minor dmg... it takes time... ofc if u menage to deal dmg without losing stack then you got more openings, but its rare...

so basically you can't force stuff to happen even if you are better than your opponent? then it looks like ql needs to make small adjustments in its gameplay rather than just switching tl. 15 mins per map it's a real bore, playing or spectating, imo.

depends how much better you are :D playing worse players is always easy, because the will do stupid things, like over commiting, or jumping on items...

im not sure if tl15 would fix ql gameplay, but more time to comeback would prolly allow more aggresive moves

Regarding timelimit, now out of the gameplay, I think tl 10 is cooler cos you can get to see different maps faster and tl 15 in one day cups like faceit would take a lot more time covering the cup and so on... I think it was a positive change.

regarding gameplay, Aggressive moves are punished most of the times, that gives a negative feedback to every player on his learning and everybody ends up +backing lots on later stages of their 'career', that's why tl 10 sucks in your opinion, you just need more time so the other guy will be more likely to make a mistake and take advantage from them. So, why not tl 30 or 45? : D

I like tl10 however i have never understood the argument that tl15 would take too long. Compare with sc2 for example which has no limit at all.

I used to play bf42 where a match consisted of 10 vs 10 players on two maps. Each map was played on both sides with tl30. Yes, 2 hours for 20 people(plus additional substitutes on each side depending on the maps).

Sometimes duel doesn't feel like a real game mode ;)
