I watched all the vq3 and cpm 2012 defrag world cup runs posted on youtube and as always cpm was jaw dropping and vq3 sort of meh, like if you defrag why would you focus on vq3 instead of cpm.

I disagree, even though I do agree with the fact that CPM runs look more pleasing, if you've done some VQ3, then you'd know how difficult some of those stunts are given the linearity of the movement.

I mean all angles need to be executed perfectly in order to get a world record since there are no possible adjustments (just minor ones) to be made once you're in the air... so the room for error is much smaller I believe, whilst CPM gives you a lot more freedom, which is exactly why you get such "jaw dropping" runs. To be honest I just think that a VQ3 master deserves as much respect as a CPM one.

Only criticism I have about this DFWC was that some the maps really really sucked, like I mean I was just standing there with this feeling of:

"Damn cool run but wow that map fucking sucked"

In comparison to 2008's dfwc maps at least... I don't give a fuck though, I really enjoyed it and hope they continue to make them every year.

didn't say vq3 is easy nor easier than cpm. It's that if I played defrag I'd go with the jaw dropping movement that gives you more possibilities.

also from watching youtube 2012 dfwc maps came alive with cpm, with different routes and omgwtfbbq moments, though it's true there were better ones including the eye candy aspect.

Some aspects of vq3 give you more possibilities and/or options than CPM (halfbeat & inverted SJ, more subtle control on plasmaclimbing etc.).

That still dwindles in comparison to cpm though. Almost everything that's possible in vq3 is possible in cpm but it doesn't cut both ways.

Those stunts sure don't seem that difficult considering he took 1st place in all the maps. And for which year in a row? Yes, vq3 requires all the angles to be done perfectly, but it's because there isn't anything else to do - vq3 has peaked. Getting first in vq3 means doing what everyone else does but a little bit better. CPM is not there yet. Because how many people did the obvious(and yet bordering impossibility) route on the fourth round? Only glm did. But by doing that he turned every other route into a "mistake".

Obviously dex is a beast but he needs to start playing with the other beasts because like I said - first on every single map. He's not proving anything, just reaffirming(as long as shio doesn't take part).

Awesome. I always love me some nice defrag, I've watched this dude's runs on dfwc's... it definitely takes some ridiculous skills and dedication to pull some of those.

Very interesting to know that he plays without sound, I couldn't have guessed that at all.

Instead of being blunt with his true thoughts he makes a sarcastic remark stating two irrelevant facts to merely marginalize dex' accomplishments. Semantics aside, It's a thinly veiled attack with no intent other than to be inflammatory. If he stated his underlying premise clearly he would be ridiculed by most everyone without atleast trying to provide some substance for his claim. I would not have said anything had he posted in such a fashion because it would atleast promote healthy debate and discussion. Either way I invite him to step out of his ignorance and install defrag, then we can see how long it takes to beat dex if he believes that the runs are easy.
