the map dimensions are totally different, making it considerably smaller as well as featuring many changes in local geometry (stairs, steps, crates, halls, ledges, doors, ramps, ceiling height, etc..) from room to room .. in fact it's hard to find an area which hasn't been modified in some way or another, even the elevator is different. Maybe I've just played so much winter's edge this just feels bad and uncomfortable to move around, but to be honest it should feel bad because winter's edge had an awesome gameflow going on with the map dimensions just perfect for QL, while now it just feels like you're playing in a doll-house in some areas. Sure, it's probably a "better" duel map now, but I think every other gamemode will suffer from the changes.

No offense to cityy, he did a good job as always (although this time round he was following specific orders), but I just don't understand the decision by Syncerror to modify the map geometry and item layout so intensely in the first place when the original winters edge was just supremely perfect (and afaik an almost exact replica of the q2 version).

ql's the edge is closer to its q4 version than the original one, or to good remakes. Sincerely there's absolutely no way syncerror played it on q2 with a mouse.
It's simply bad to the point I don't want to see how much syncerror will destroy ztn, dm6 and other classic maps on doom4/quake5 if they happen.

Good solutions would be releasing winters edge as it is (pretty good) or finally ospdm1 (perfect).

Would be nice if ID would open up the servers to .ru so they wouldn't be filtered out. Would surely benefit the Russian scene and there's lots of good players most haven't heard of. Best part is that I ping 2nd lowest ping to Russian servers and it's no in my vicinity :P
