but if you're upgrading from a shit mouse or shit config (ie: if you are an absolute beginner) it will certainly make a difference... there is a minimum level of quality required to play quake when it comes to mouse and config, but yes, most people's expectations of that minimum are way higher than what is actually real, hence the ongoing avalanche of scripting and mouse threads by people who already have a more than adequate mouse and config

I disagree, a comfortable setup allows you to focus on brain stuff better. Like when your mouse keeps skipping it can throw you off your concentration and destroy your mind games.
