The Corsair doesnt seems so bad (ofc its laser so whatever), it would just annoy the fuck out of me if the cord not placed in the center.

Genius quality in my experience usually at least matches but often times exceeds a bit their prices so dont wanna throw shit on that mice just yet, and its definitely not made for fps games anyway.

its people that don't know what makes a good gaming mouse, so they just buy whatever has the flashiest advertisement.

its quite fun to see the same parallel in football boots. old leather classics or slightly updated versions of those are the best, but people buy into the hype of super-lightweight "speed" boots that make no difference and in a lot of cases are much worse, just because ronaldo or messi wears them.

they known well how to make a good gaming mouse, but the problem is that with nowadays tachnologies the perfect, final mouse, would just cost no more than 20$.... unacceptable, when you can sell a Razer Mamba (lmao@) at 140 $ or so; so it's better to create false necessities and expectatives.

ESR should put together a full-on gimmick mouse. Use every lame gimmick we've ever seen in these 'new mice', especially the built-in fan if we can use that tech.

Then with all the sales we get from this mouse we can R&D + manufacture a perfect wmo remake or w/e, sell for <$20. Winning.

Heh, I've thought about that before actually as an idea for a frictionless mouse. One that works like the puck on an air hockey table.

Problems are:

A. You'd need a noisy, expensive, and power consuming machine under your mouse.

B. It would either have to be wireless, or have a really good cord and plenty of thought put to how the cord would behave. With such low friction+light mouse the cord becomes a big influence.

C. The sensor would have to be happy with a very high lod, not a big problem but something worth noting.

D. The player would have to train themselves not to press down on the mouse as touching the surface would increase the friction tremendously.

E. Thought would have to be put to how sensitive the buttons are. The actuation pressure on them could easily be made to be too great, such that pressing a mouse button inevitably influences mouse movement.

F. I'm not sure what sort of maintenance an air hockey table requires, but it would also be required for this device.

G. The portability of such a device is a concern. I suppose it could have wheels on it, but it's hardly as portable as a mouse/mousepad.

If I was rich I might try building one to see what the idea is worth.

I have a feeling that it simply won't work since a good balance between the force of the upwards air on the device/weight of the device/actuation pressure of the buttons probably can't be achieved.
