switched from 60hz lcd. general aim is suffering, but lg and rail are most pronounced. been playing on it for a week and no complaints. resolution changed from 1440x900 to 1920x1080. playing at 120hz, 125fps stead, and native resolution.

people i've talked to who swtiched to 120hz have stated there was no acclimation period. one guy says that maybe by playing for a long time on lcd i've learned to aim to compensate for the 60hz? that seems likely. maybe i'll just have to play for a long time and readjust? i don't know if my aging brain can handle that.

What is the aspect ratio of your 60Hz LCD?

your not using your lg at the right time now, your so excited about using your lg you spamming it at everything. Just play how you normally play and forget you have 120hz now. You do notice how everything is smoother looking right? It will help aim in an lg fight, however using your lg when you should be using rockets or backing off can lower accuracy. You will also notice once you hit someone real good with an lg they learn to avoid fighting you and will take pop shots or gang up on you. Once they see you get that thing out they will dance and run. Maybe try some 1v1 eyetoeye or thunderstruck to see if its improved.

You really do notice the smoothness of the models right? You go into monitors menu and make sure your at 120hz. You could have your video set to that mode still at 60 hz. What os you using?

thanks for the input. i don't doubt that i'm enthusiastic to use lg and rail, so you may be right. however, as you suggested, i have tried ts, and even in lg to lg fights i have noticed a distinct difference, though games on ts can vary greatly depending on a player's dodging.

i'll keep what you've said in mind as i play more. the monitor is very smooth, it's definitely set to 120hz (and i've switched a few times back to 60hz just to reminisce).

Probably your old monitor formed bad habits. It took me awhile to get used to 120Hz. I didn't experience a dramatic drop in accuracy, but I did have to change the way I aimed. I know that the VG236HE had a maximum of 17 milliseconds of input lag. I would be surprised if this didn't have a similar amount. Give it some time and you'll get used to it. Best LCDs for gaming are the ones that have THRU mode capability.

Maybe it's your resolution. try your old resolution, still with 120hz and see how you play then.

i don't disagree with you that the size of the monitor could be an issue. my shots are close. missed rails sometimes leave me standing still with my mouth open, wondering how it didn't hit. with lg, i notice distinct overcorrection, though my sensitivity is extremely low (and lowered since i got the monitor).

i've wondered if maybe because the monitor is so large, that i am slightly overestimating the distance i need to move the mouse to accurately target something, if that makes sense?

if so, what could be a solution? change the view size or possibly some mouse setting?

if you sit at the same length from the screen and it's larger you need a larger fov to get the same feeling, you viewangle when you're focused on the enemy should be the same, aka higher fov since your eyes haven't changed but the screen estate has. Not my words, fould an extensive guide on fov once, when i read of 90deg on pc games and sometimes 50deg on consol games.

1000hz vs 125hz usb results in 14ms lower input lag (iirc), 60hz vs 120hz results in way, way lower output lag. not the same shit, not just "smoother".

not sure if trolling but, i can tell the difference between 125 and 500/1000 on windows desktop by moving the cursor. it has nothing to do with 'theory', it's very basic math: 125hz polling rate means it sends data every 8 milliseconds, 500/1000hz sends every 2/1ms, respectively. it's easy to tell in game also, 125 looks choppy when looking around.
