ec1/2 evo and AM don't have prediction, track on qck and have omron switches. cable and overall build is higher quality than wmo as well. too bad, i used to value your opinion. what changed that made you decide to become a troll?
I was talking about ALL modern mouses, like as a whole including the razer ones.
These Zowie mouses I hate because of the shape and side buttons alone. Do not compute on my hand
Im ignoring you not the truth (now this is trolling, you got trolled into me ignoring you with that reply, and not with me statying the fact modern mouses suck compared to WMO if you only care about Quake)
I was talking about ALL modern mouses, like as a whole including the razer ones.

played a bit with zowie EC1 second version EVO, I liked it. Problem was a bit different clicks and diff weight (becose I removed a lot weight from my ie3). I borrowed it from friend, gave it back, I will order it soon, becose I like 1000hz input, very good sensor , size, shape, mouse texture, cord better then ie3. so it's time to move on I guess after 10 years with ie3 :DDD
The main plus coming from wmo I will test is plug and play on win7, no usb fix/test mode and no neg accell on huge monitors, not that i have one really.
you're right, the wmo does have its problems (autojump+autoshoot when lifted mostly) , and i'm plenty of artisan mouse feet i could replace those with, but 60 euros for an unfinished product just doesn't feel allright
plenty of new good mice lately (kana, am), can't understand why they all decide to use this kind of feet tho
Goog job, but I'm fine with the /\ shape of the AM. Since the FK is only about shape (or mostly) I'll wait for the Aurora. I don't need double side buttons. Plus the Aurora looks to perform even better than the AM / FK.
But still - Zowie may be overpriced (like all gaming mice) but at least they focus on the important stuff. They do not offer any of those 8k DPI things yet. And that says something.
Hey, I was just wondering, is there specific reason why you'd like to ditch kana for a zowie? I got a kana as well and I like it a lot, but I always like to experience with new mice. Have you got a zowie yet? if yes, what's your comparison to kana? thanks :)
I've had three Zowie EC1/2 mices and two Zowie eVo EC 1/2 mices.
4 out 5 didnt work. Two had very bad jitter problems and the other one had really weird issue with tracking. With low sens sensor went ape shit throwing crosshair up and down.
EVO series black coatting has serious grip issues too. Its almost impossible to hold firmly in ur hand.
Dont know about AM or this new mouse, but my experiences are overall really bad. Only good thing is, Zowie replaced all the mices so far and sent also some mouse mats.
Sounds like it could be a surface issue and not a mouse issue. The AM and the ECs aren't exactly known for having shitty sensors, they are overall quite good. (if you don't mind the prediction on the EC that is)
Actually it is a mouse issue. Due to their quest for lowest liftoff distance possible, the original EC2 jittered like crazy on rough plastic pads. If the mosue had 1mm higher liftoff distance, then it would most likely have worked fine.
It worked good on clothpads, which afaik are the most used pads. It was also fine on fine grained plastic pads, but when the peaks and valleys on the pad were large (Steelseries S&S etc.) then it became difficult to draw a straight line without there being some jagged edges along the line.
If this really was the result of them going for a very low LOD, I think it was acceptable to them. Lower LOD > bad performance on 1-2 specific pads. It's a trade off.
Can't stand cloth pads due to their high static friction. Cloth feels OK for 1-2 weeks before they are broken in, after that the friction on the initial movement is too high for me to track properly with LG etc.
Anyways there are plenty of other mice that work well on plastic pads like G400 (the version without driftcontrol/angle snapping) which I am using.
Check out the Razer Goliathus Control, I've been using it more a few months, so far it hasn't revealed this flaw that the QCK and Goliathus Speed edition had.
The Zowie G-RF has a fantastically small amount of static friction, I've found anyway. I've been using this for about 8 months and its held together pretty well.

I have a Zowie AM and the changes they have made for the FK are needed:
The \/ shape should be better than the /\ shape.
It needs to be lighter, but 3g is not alot really but better than nothing.
Slightly smaller and lower would also be ideal.
But:
The buttons on the AM require too much pressure, the switches need to be changed to something more sensitive and the button covers of the mouse need to be seperate from the rest of the mouse shell - like the WMO. Nothing on the Zowie site suggests they've changed the switches and they clearly haven't changed the mouse shell structure.
The LOD of the AM is so low it causes tracking issues with 6 of my 8 mousepads - no mention on the Zowie site whether this is fixed in the FK...
Nevertheless, when the AM is working well on a surface it likes, the tracking is phenomenal and although I don't normally like large mouse feet, these give it a stable feeling which is great for LG and RG. But the fact that the buttons reduced my firing reaction time and I couldn't use my preferred mousepad made me ditch it.
The day zowie fix the buttons and the LOD I will buy 10 of them and never need another mouse. But I expect the Ninox mice will meet these requirements before Zowie does :D
I assume absolutely everything is the same as the evo and AM except the shell. And you really wanted a thinner AM? Really? The FK is almost the thinnest mouse on the market.

last time i checked the ninox thread, there was a discussion about the buttons hardness... it came out they are just lightly less hard to click than the zowie one....hence, another 10 years of wmo :(
They are lighter now, the first samples were a bit of a mixed bag. The last Aurora sample I had the buttons were too light ;D (kept jumping and firing by mistake). So don't worry about the button stiffness ;) When I do the main order, I can order a lot of Omrons in bulk, so I can be more demanding with the accuracy of the switch operating forces.
I hope that's just the switches... the fact that the AM doesn't have button covers seperate from the rest of the shell adds to the pressure required to press them, so hopefully the Ninox mice will be ok in that regard. I'm using a WMO at the moment and the buttons are sooo sensitive that some times I fire just if I move my mouse quickly :D
4m/s is insanely high, i kinda doubt i've ever seen a quake player with a setup that hits that in game. of course you can make any mouse skip at a certain point, but that's not what gamers are concerned with and neither should you.
what's your quake setup to hit 3+ in quake then, dpi/sens/accel/etc.?
A bit of properly configured A9500/A9800 and PTE mice.
Believe anything related to 3060 architecture runs into framerate limitation around 4.4~ without factoring in alternative hardware. Thats if you want to use enotus as a reference. (I still disagree with it as a benchmark due to probable error).
And sorry if I didn't clarify, but It would be possible to use an alternative magnification to gain speed, but I was under the impression they ditched 3060 with newer models and swapped to PAW3305 to embrace their new V-track/holeless design.
And yes, that Sidewinder x8 Bluetrack was quite beast in terms of tracking speed. 13000 fps @ 24x24 image if im not mistaken.
slightly unrelated, but i don't have an account with which to post new topics:
i ordered the zowie ec-2 from the zowie web site, but never received confirmation for my order, nor an estimated shipping date or any sort of receipt. i have contacted zowie support on their web site, but after 1 week have yet to receive a response. i live in the states.
has anybody had an experience with purchasing from the zowie web site, or know how i can get some information from them about my purchase? thanks.
for whatever it's worth, i made a simple collage with images found online for both the AM and FK.
i know it's not perfect, but i tried to scale both images so that the colored indents in the bottom would fit as good as possible. i think the outcome might contribute to this discussion
All online places are sold out IIRC, but this retailer is the only one who ships conveniently overseas (mine arrived in 6 days to Australia - postage is also cheap) so you may have to wait. The official Zowie store doesn't even sell it yet.
I like ,but beware it is slippery as hell. Im trying to find somekind of grip tape to apply to counteract this issue. I need to hold it tighter than any other mosue i used which is ironic since the side were aligned inwards to alliviate that proble from the am.
Rubber coating is not the miracle solution for the grip.
If you have dry hand (or does not become a bit sweaty after a period of gaming), yes the rubber coating is useless.
For that I hope Zowie will come with a glossy version of the FK like the AM.
Mouse refresh and sensitivity are completely unrelated. Anyway, these days I'm at 6/11 with 450DPI. I lowered my in-game sens from 33cm/360 to 45cm/360.
Just got an FK and I'm impressed so far. The sensor feels nice. Was using a WMO but fancied giving it a try. It is a similar shape except that it is slightly longer and flatter.
It will be interesting to compare it to BST's mouse. I seem to be a collector of computer mice these days. I should probably buy an anorak next instead.
My Qck was looking crap and smelt strongly of coffee so I bought the Taito at PC world as an impulse buy. Probably wouldn't choose it again but it works fine.
The coating doesn't bother me. I would go as far as saying I like it. I just love the shape and sensor though. It's the best mouse I've ever bought quite honestly.
The price is quite steep but I'm hoping that it will last for a while. I would prefer if I didn't have to pay a premium to some counter strike players that I don't know. But maybe counter strike has contributed something good to the gaming community after all!
whats the aurora? never heard of it.
what would you guys recommend when someone uses claw grip with big hands? currently using g400 but not really satisfied with the shape and this shitty cable....
well i want to stick to something that actually has atleast a small chance of beeing released anytime soon.
aurora has no concrete dates or any facts. just some big talk with nothing behind does not help me or anybody else.
would you guys recommend a zowie fk/ec1/ec2 over a g400 shape and sensor wise?
How are we supposed to know what shape you would prefer? Find a way to try them. Keep in mind that the FK is more of a claw mouse than the ECs and the g400, so know your grip. G400 and EC eVo are both safe picks sensor-wise.
buy the g400 if you have big hands. its shape is vastly superior to the ec evos and fk for palm grippers and to an extend claw grippers.
I own both, I have big hands and I kind of use a mixture of palm and claw grip. The weight difference is not noticeable, the coating on the EC EVO is nice but the g400's is smartly designed to stcik perfectly to your hand once you warmed up and started sweating a little. the ergonomics are vastly superior on the g400 for everyday use.
the LOD is not even really noteworthy.. you lift the mouse either way, 1 mm wont make a fucking difference. tracking is exactly the same precision / prediction / jitter wise. malfunction speed differs slightly, but shouldnt be a prob on either of them.
the EC EVO and FK have retarded but working DPI steps, the g400 only 800 and 3600 to really choose from.
lastly the g400 is half the price of both zowies.
so I say just fucking buy the g400 already, bruder.
there is a long ass post of me inc that hasnt been added yet, but I forgot you already have the g400 while writing it.
since you are not happy I must ask:
which mice have you used prior to the g400?
secondly, I must recommend:
use the g400 for another 2 months excessively and then claim its shape isnt perfect again.
if nothing helps then, out of all mice, I recommend you to check out the EC1 EVO. it is almost as big as the g400, but the shape is overall completely different. maybe you will like it better. its fucking expensive though.
to be honest there is no other mouse I would recommend atm.. maybe a 3g deathadder and a cm storm spawn. MAYBE a thermaltake saphira or roccat savu.
thanks buddy.
finally some valid info.
i guess ill stick to the g400 for another 2 months like you said and if i still dont get the feeling. ill get a zowie.
You wont regret the decision. And a personal recommendation form someone who used an mx510 and later an mx518 of the first generation for 5 years:
replace the 3 big teflon feet with http://www.hyperglide.net/?hg=mx_skates_1
either the mx1 or mx2 feet. for the mx1 feet you could just replace the bottom of your mouse with the one of an old used mx510/518/500 whatever.
if you take the mx2 feet whcih are probably even better because a round form should technically glide the best in all directions, then you can just put them where the old big feet where.
been looking around to possible replace my good old deathadder that's been around for over four years now. so i was checking out zowie's website. can somebody explain to me what they're trying to say? i don't get it:
"The FK is an ambidextrous mouse with a \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\/ grip, contrary to the AM that has a /\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ gripping style"
Yes all of them use good sensors. Make sure to leave feedback on here if you do decide to buy all of them.
Personally I think I'm looking to the g100, Zowie EC2, and Zowie FK. My 3.0 is nice but after having it for a couple of years I just want a little bit of change.
I'm more of a claw gripper with the top of my palm resting slightly on the mouse. I thought I'd like the 1.1 when I bought it but I found a real lack of gripping area, the flat part (where I grip) on the sides were too small. Overall, the sides were a little too slanted as they went down. My fingers would slip upwards too easily.
The g100 or FK have straighter sides? If not, it seems like the EC2 might be my best bet since it's considerably smaller than the 3.0.
I ordered one yesterday directly from zowie. after throwing up a little about how expensive it was I noticed that it's out of stock on their store as well now.
I'll email them about when I can expect to get mine and when it'll be available again
found the FK on Amazon.de today and also available on a couple of online shops. It's gonna be hard to resist this one much longer even though i actually planned to go with the aurora.
shape :
AM is quite close to a WMO/kinzu/kana while the abyssus is closer to mx300/310
now that i'm used to the AM's shape i prefer it over the abyssus imho the AM is a bit more comfortable for your fingers
sensor :
there's isn't much difference there but from my own testing the AM sensor seems to be slightly more precise/reliable
atm the avago adns-3090 is probably the best sensor you can get inside a mouse
lift off distance:
once i tried to get back to my old abyssus, and to be honest, the lift off distance is way too high, at least compared to the AM. When you get used to the AM's LOD it's quite hard to go back to your preview mouse :D
build quality
there again the AM seems to be slightly more solid than the abyssus, altho i didn't try the full gloss version of the AM, so it's quite hard to compare actually. But as far as i can tell the build quality of the AM seems pretty much perfect, but that's what you get when you pay 60€ for a mouse ^^
scroll wheel:
The AM scroll wheel seems a tad too hard for my liking, it's hard to press it. I personally prefer the abyssus's scroll wheel over the AM's one. But there again the AM's scroll wheel seems to be slightly more solid/durable.
price
If you don't mind buying a 60€ mouse, then go for the AM, otherwise go for the abyssus which is cheaper.
side buttons
at first you will need some time to adapt to the AM. Why ? because it's not that rare that you will press the right-side's buttons accidentally, but thanks God you can disable them. After some weeks of use you know better how to position exactly your fingers on the mouse. But if you're a pure claw grip user (like cypher), then the side buttons isn't a problem, because you will probably never press them accidentally.
Also, some people NEED side buttons (unlike me), so the lack of them on the abyssus will prevent them from buying the mouse.
But overall the side buttons, even if you don't need them, are not really a problem, since, like i said, you can disable them easily.
weight and size
the AM is slightly longer than the abyssus, but also a bit thiner. The AM can also be compared to the kana/kinzu, still a bit longer than the kinzu. Its overall shape is probably quite close to the kana.
In term of weight, the AM and the abyssus are pretty close, altho i find the AM slightly heavier, which is personally not a problem for me at all. It's still a light mouse :)
Tbh after 1 week of usage, the difference of weight and size between the abyssus and the AM isn't a problem at all. It's fast and easy to get used to the change.
buttons
Overall it's easy to press them on the AM, aswell as on the abyssus. However i think that the AM's buttons will last longer, because of huanos/omron switches.
last but not least
Changing your dpi on the AM feels more natural than on the abyssus, because you just have to press a button, which will probably never break, unlike the dpi steps that you can find below the abyssus. I like the fact that you just have to press a combination of buttons before pluggin in the mouse to change the HZ, there again, unlike on the abyssus, these buttons will probably never break.
With any of these mice you can do very good ingame, doesn't really matter which one you are using. They're all very good mice. The best mice you can find on the market currently.
FK arrived. Coming from a xornet its kinda weird playing with a mouse of normal shape again. It does grip nicely just like advertised. Buttons click normally, scroller feels a tiny bit heavyer than im used to but its new, i expect it to loosen up a little over time. Some stats eventhough theyre not 100% accurate because the program used doesnt allow dpi1150.
FK grips perfectly fine. its got proper 'dents' on both sides, and even some on the mouse buttons. I played alot with it last night, while still trying to figure out the sensaccel. Got some pains in my thumb tho so i might be gripping it wrong, will have to figure that out as time goes on :>
I got mine yesterday and I really like it so far, very sexy.
Coming from a Intelli 1.1 it is notably more narrow than that. I find it very easy to grip and control, however my hand got a bit uncomfortable after playing for a while. I guess because my thumb and pinky are closer together, it felt like the muscles below my thumb are cramping up a little. I'll have to play more with it and see how it works out, it shouldn't be a big deal really. But I could see that being a deal breaker for some people with big hands.
:D
I'm also trying to figure out the perfect grip for it. it seems like there's a million different ways to hold this mouse.
another thing I noticed is that the plastic on the bottom scrapes on my puretrak talent in some spots, because the mousefeet are so thin, and I guess the mat is slightly uneven in some spots.
but it's not an issue for me because it doesn't disturb the mouse movements, it only seems to be barely touching it. I don't notice it when I have headphones on and don't hear the sound it makes.
I was surprised by the nice consistent glide though, better than my 1.1 with teflon feet
found something odd, when i tilt my mouse to the right (past 35-40 degrees), nose of it looking towards the top right side of my mousepad (black qck+), and then move in the right direction, it stops tracking properly. now im not saying i hold my mouse like that, but whenever i need a flick to the right/bottom-right, theres a chance it wont track properly i think.
anyone else who can replicate this? or is my sensor dirty? :P
depends on what you define by build quality
ALL zowie mice got thick plastic shells which generally make them weight 10-15g more than they should but that makes them really solid. On the other hand kana v2 aint really squeaky either. If you look at materials all these mice are kinda even, kana v2 has better coating at sides than v1 and zowie mice got fine coating aswell(although im not really a fan of it and prefer kana's one). Scroll should rattle on all these mice - zowie have a long-lasting optical rattling one while kana has a mechanical one which technically could break faster. Same for mouse buttons - kana got a weaker plastic inside which may get destroyed in a few months of usage(slightly better than abyssus) whereas zowie mice got way more long-lasting buttons.
Don't own a Kana v1, but I'll compare it to the Deathadder 2013, DA BE, G400s and CM Storm Spawn since I had a chance to use all of them.
In terms of build quality, for me personally, it's one of the best built mice even though it's pretty light. It's definitely better than Kana v1 in all aspects since it is an improved version of it. The clicks are really springy, the DA 2013 and BE has a bit more mushy clicks and the right click is always easier to click because of the chassis the DA uses. Both of the clicks in the Kana v2 are the same, the scroll wheel is excellent if you prefer something a bit lighter but you still have a good response when scrolling. The rest of the buttons are really solid as well, probably the most solid side and top buttons I've ever seen in a mouse in terms of responsiveness and the quality of the plastic. All in all it has high quality plastic materials and I don't see them getting broke in any way. I would recommend that you get the white edition if your hands don't sweat a lot. The mouse feet didn't seem like pure teflon to me at first, it felt like it had 90% of teflon and the rest was plastic but I had a ptfe set and placed them on top of the stock ones anyways. If I would have to rank these mice by quality/grip/usability in my personal opinion it would be something like this: Kana v2>DA 2013/G400S>CM Storm Spawn>DA BE.
Keep in mind that all of these mice are extremely good, I ranked them purely because of a few minor things that I liked more on some of them, so you probably can't go wrong with either one of them, just choose what kind of a grip you use and if you prefer heavier or lighter mice.
So build quality as light mouse seems to be good. I will stick to WMO for a while, but probably I will go for kana v2. I think a bit better shape for me and even lighter and cheaper than Zowie mice. ;]
only high lod could be annoying.

I just got this mouse and have had a few occasions where it has a tracking error and drifts up or down when i move it left or right. It's very noticeable and I'll have to switch to a new mouse if it doesn't go away because I've gotten it a few times in one day. I'm using a new g-tf speed for a pad. Has anyone else been getting this?
I've had an AM since May-June 2012. I figured I would give some feedback on it.
mousewheel has become very buggy. I like to press it to open links in a new tab, and for some reason the microswitch gets actuated multiples times. So very oftenly, the same link gets opened multiple times (I get up to 4 new tabs at once sometimes lol).
Even worse, when I want to close a tab, I also press mouse3 and sometimes other tabs will get closed as well. It's quite funny but has now become really irritating.
I've had this issue since last summer roughly. Also, the coating on the right side (where I rest my pinkie) has completely worn out. I guess my grip is very tight lol. I have the non GS version btw.
The new FK is typically labelled "FK14" and doesn't have the yellow-coloured bottom. Whole mouse is black bar the scroll wheel and the Zowie logo on the back.
The one I have right now seems to have an IR led. I'd prefer the nicer scroll wheel though. I have to RMA this anyway because of tracking errors so hopefully they give me the new one. I wonder if the IR light is causing my tracking errors since it seems to be a new addition.
