I don't see why that would be the case. Swapping old maps with new maps is quite refreshing. Swapping old maps with ancient maps (Toxicity -> DM6) isn't, especially because DM6 games are decided in the first minute or so of the match.

Well the cup lasted approximately 2 hours and I made 25$, doing what I enjoy.

It certainly felt more competitive and time worthy than 3 hours for 15$ next time around.

Also you gamble, if I played poker with a 2$ buyin and made 25$ two hours later I'd be happy because I enjoyed myself and made money :)

especially considering i'm currently in the middle of an exam session and I'd jump over a small 2 hours tourney rather than a longer one (hence why i did not play faceit this sunday, didnt really have 5 hours to 'waste')

It's a good idea to rotate the maps a bit, especially for this less important cups. Hope ztn will be back next week though.

Faceit website is pretty weak:

1) No page summarizes the tournaments on which you can play. You're forced to go on esr to find the signup links. If it's somewhere on the faceit website, then it's really not easy to find it.

2) The website is apparently unable to fetch my infos from QLRANKS. It's not written that it works with QLRANKS, but I assumed it since your rank cups are based on that system and that there's an "elo" box on my stats. Again, it's either a bug or a lack of information on the site.

3) I coulnd't find anywhere on the website a place where the ranks are explained. I had to search for past news on esr in order to retrieve the news where the match rank<>elo was stated.

4) I can't signup for rank 8 cup although my elo is currently 1829 and that I found out on the old esr news that rank 8 is limited to 1850 or lower. It's even quite weird since the website seems unable to fetch my elo (as stated in paragraph 2).


EDIT : I finally found the page to signup. Still not that easy to understand once you get to that page though.

Beside, the website is not trash as I find it visually nice, it's just functionnally flawed (like many websites, actually).

1) All you have to do is click the QL logo with "Play" on it.

2) It's a bug which should be fixed soon

We don't judge a map on one or two matches. I actually enjoyed it overall during the last 14 cups. I agree, strenx' matches on it weren't very interesting on Hektik (nor DM6), but we aren't removing a map because only strenx' matches on that specific maps were once sided.

top rl spawn (next to that top corridor), like lets say 7 minutes into the game. I'm on a higher stack and come from that corridor, opponent is on the stairs. Instead of changing to lg I chose sg, died and lost the map soely because of that.

There was an idea that I really liked on the chat on sunday - cast an oldschool demo before the live games. I think this would be a great addition to the show and the new players would know the history of quake a little bit better, as well as learn some new tricks or ways to control the map (I really think theres something to it - even Evil admits he was learning from 10 year old demos of Unkind).

Theres plenty of classic matches that deserve to be reminded and casted, as they didnt get the chance back in the day. Wheat couldnt do that all by himself...

That requires a caster that is an expert dueler both on q3 and ql. While zoot is pretty good on ql he won't be spraying cum everywhere nor giving us insight of the game for people that played little to no q3 (me included)

Oh and Dm6 - I really like the map and Im happy to have it back in the mappool. But.

In OSP, it was much more of a tactical map, due to OSPs rail/rocket power. In vq3, it was more of an aimfest, but at least it was easier to come back thanks to the strenght of shaft.
In QL, once a player locks the map, it feels like its over if the players are on similar level.
The solution could be rearranging the item spawns (tdm style) and/or making the mega spawn every 120s, so the dominant player wouldnt keep quicky restacking after each fight.

Maybe add an extra 25 armor or so and break the big rooms with some crates/small pillars to hide behind while moving so one can force more rl fights. Nothing big.

I'd put a teleport in the corridor from RL to YA in such a way that enables the player from the YA side to go to RL, but which doesn't allow to go the other way. RJumping after grabbing RA and rushing through that corridor to rail the other guy on YA is what makes the in-control game quite easy on dm6.

It's just too simple/open to be played nowadays, that worked 10 years ago, but not today. The skill level(mostly technical abilities and the speed of the game) increased too much since early 2000s. It lacks positional play which is essential for modern maps to be successful which makes it too onesided even contrary to smaller 'arcade' maps such as aero/toxicity where having lower stack you're able to kill enemy simply by having better position or catching off guard

You guys remember the CQ3 layout for dm6 that came with cpma 1.47?

All they did was add a GA near SG, replace the shards with another GA (not as important) and tweaked the spawns a little bit.

Would suit QL so much better...

I see these money matches doesnt have the biggest success, which is understandable since the reality of these for 95% of the players are to drop 1-2$ to evil / strenx etc and play a few maps vs. random dudes. Even if its a meaningless amount people dont like throwing money away...

I'd like to propose a few tournament ideas that would involve a higher percentage of players playing for money (that hopefully would help populating the money buyin tournaments).

Double and Triple up tournaments: These tournies would reward 33-50% of the players with money and also wouldnt require long time commitment so could run on weekdays or any time aswell. This type of tournament would guarantee almost every player wins money sometimes

Knockout tournaments: Lets say the buyin is $1+$1, while $1 being contributed to the prizepool (and the final winner) while the second dollar is a bounty on every players head. This way every won round would guarantee the players winning money.

Progressive bounty tournaments: This type of tournament would involve a different buyin for each player (say its ranging between $1+$1 and $1+$5) based on their previous performances.

I think this 3 type of tournaments would increase the popularity of money matches since almost every player who plays them could experience playing for actual money opposed to the current type of tournaments where you buyin knowing at the end you will end up with $0 and it will come down to 2-3 guys to win the whole prizepool.

Its just an idea but hope the players / organizers will like it.

This is exactly why we introduced the Levels. Obviously guys like evil and strenx are top favorites for the Level 10 cups (even though they are yet to attend one, afaik), but the top echelon of players can easier spend $1 because they already have cash on their FACEIT accounts. The winners for the Level 4, 6 and 8 cups vary a lot. You cannot say who will win it in advance. You can have an idea, but it's a big insecurity.

Next to that we also have Quick Matches where you can challenge someone of your level for a match, either for no cash or for cash, whatever you like, and Series tournaments.

I really like that bounty idea. It's not like I'd participate anyway, though.

watching the same handfull of players is cool.. but giving lesser players a tourney to compete against eachother would greatly benefit the community I think.

There are Elo cups, some are just not streamed.
Monday = Max. Level 4 (1250 Elo)
Tuesday = Max. Level 6 (1550 Elo)
Wednesday = Max Level 8 (1850 Elo)
Thursday = level 10 cup (unlimited)

well i dont see silence as a fast map and i see t7 as a slow map. ive seen games which ended 1:0 on a top level. thats usually a sign that this maps is slow. and thats a matter of judgement. not you n or me are right, thats just interpretation.
and I agree that a 5 maps mappool would be better. allthough are your choicec not mine. i prefere silence over ztn. the rest would be fine for me.

i played it bullshit tbh. played the opening sequence wrong so had no rail for second red and then when i spawned right infront of him i just tilted bad. it's playable but it's really hard.

Anybody knows how to fix 720p+ stream issues? Sound is fine, but picture is lagging regularly.. On 720p it's ok. ISP and PC are both fine.

its not seen that much in tournament games, since its actually not that efficiant. since there is seldomly a possibility to even do that, and you gain like 30-40 seconds till your opponent starts to think "where is he" and there really only one spot possible
